Fic 515: Fire Keeper
A little Heavy/Pyro, where Pyro’s a bit exhausted.
Oh, just a quick note. I’m doing National Novel Writing Month again this year, so my output might be a little slow for the rest of October and November as I finish up my prep and participate in the challenge. I’ll still be writing, but it might be a bit longer between fics. We’ll be back on a regular posting schedule in December.
The sun scowled down upon the parched desert earth and, for the first time in their life, Pyro wondered if perhaps there was such a thing as too hot. Beads of sweat rolled down the back of their neck and had started to pool where the rubber hugged snuggly around their collar bone. Despite the heat, they shivered as the sound of their sweat squelched close to their ears. Down in their boots was a similar feeling. Thick wool socks seemed to cling to them like a second skin and each step felt as if they were walking through a marsh. Their suit, which normally was their protective shield against the world, now felt like the bag that they’d be boiled alive in. Cooked like a sausage under the New Mexico sun.
How much longer was the match going to be?
