designed to be noticed

this is just a random little question; I was just wondering what you think of ouma's purple highlights!! personally I love it and feel like it tells a lot about his personality in a way

I love the highlights on his hair! He has such a cute design overall and the little purple highlights in particular are really cute.

There are actually one or two sprites of his where I think they forgot to include the highlights and it’s super jarring, because the purple-ness of his whole design goes down so drastically.

I agree that it really does fit with his personality! There’s so much too about the color purple being related to lies in ndrv3–Momota, Kaede, and Ouma are all liars in some way or another, and the three of them are the most associated with the color. It’s fun to notice these little design tendencies along the way, too.

Someone sent me a really cute headcanon a while back about the highlights being a result of someone in DICE dyeing his hair as a prank while he was asleep and I still think that’s the most adorable thing. It’d be perfectly in-character for him to keep the highlights just because he liked them and thought they were fun-looking.

Ok but imagine a soulmate AU where the other persons name is written on your arm so Shiros upset ‘cause he lost his arm before the mark showed up and therefore thinks he’ll never find anyone but then one day when he’s looking at his new prosthetic he notices the logo of the engineer that designed it

Is your former teacher aware that you live off of art now?

nope! not sure she would care, either. BUT i did get a kind of petty sort of “IN YOUR FACE” moment my senior year @ this teacher, though

she actually retired when i was entering my senior year, and she was replaced with a teacher that was coming in from another school. this teacher was really nervous, and couldn’t quite find a footing. she was afraid she would make the art department look bad

i was one of, i think, 3 advanced art students??? and she told us “do whatever you want, pick a subject from this, interpret it, it’s fine” because she was just stressed with the workload

at the end of that year, our school was placed into something called the “art conference show” which showcased and rewarded students in the visual arts from 8 different schools. in that show i won best in painting, students’ choice, and best of show. i had to get interviewed. it was absolutely terrifying

but the new teacher was so relieved, she thanked me. and that teacher that told me i had absolutely no future in this field stayed in town so i know her hearing about it wasn’t something she could avoid

AND YOU ASPIRING ARTISTS CAN LEARN FROM THAT, TOO!!

if you have an art teacher that’s supportive right up until you mention you’re serious, take no shit. go behind this teacher’s back, and work. and work and work. there comes a point where you can learn faster than what’s being taught. do the assignments, get work done, and then advance yourself. if you’re in high school, you don’t have to rely on their blessing to advance.

Can I just say that I just LOVE BD's character design? The balance between the design's likability and interesting characteristics is so perfect. Some people think that her design is a step down but I think it's a gigantic step up. Her sillouette is stronger, her facial complexion gives her more personality, the various sources of inspiration! One of the best in the show imo

i agree with what you said, and let me elaborate!

look at the diamonds we’ve met so far, and how their design says everything about their personalities

first look at the leading lines here. everything about bd’s design seems to be pulling her down, giving her overall posture a very droopy feeling. and what do you know- Blue diamond lives with the ever existing burden of grief, and she allows it to pull her down. literally. she doesnt have many straight lines, or corners for that matter.

in Yellow’s case- many corners. many straights. every time two lines meet it creates an angle. she’s super pointy. she doesnt seem very approachable… well, she isn’t. she’s harsh. and the design tells you that before she even speaks.

this is made super clear when u look at their silhouettes

and the most amazing thing? they have the exact same body type!

it’s the same proportions, but YD is slightly taller b\c heels+hair. (maybe BD is wearing heels too but i doubt it)

you just don’t notice it, because the people who designed them were professionals who clearly knew what they were doing.

can we just talk about how viktor and yuuri’s designs compliment each other so well?

yuuri’s pitch black hair contrasting viktor’s platinum silver

viktor’s clear blue eyes compared to yuuri’s chocolate brown with that hint of red

plus I love seeing artwork that shows viktor as so lean and bony with his soft and curvy fiancé

idk I just feel that they compliment each other so well on a design aspect I love it
