Each bespoke order begins by talking through the design with the client and learning about the style, fit, and fabrication they desire. The fabrics are chosen from a selection in my atelier or in some cases materials may be specially sourced for the client. From there a personalized pattern is drafted and the fabrics are pressed and marked. Once the fabric is cut the base of the chemise is constructed. With some tweaking along the way, the fit is perfected before the appliquéing can begin.
Appliquéing is a long process of zigzag stitching along every edge of the lace to attach it to the chemise. Crosshatching the pins keep the lace from slipping out of place, and the garment is pressed after each section is stitched. With the appliquéing complete the straps and binding are attached and the finishing touches are added.
The chemise is pressed with a piece of organza cloth over the garment using a low setting on the iron. It is then carefully packaged with tissue paper and black ribbon, and a little handwritten note inside. Finally the package is ready to be shipped! If it doesn’t fit when it arrives I am happy to offer a complimentary alteration.
