is the fourth studio album by band Anthrax. It was released on September 19.
The song “Misery Loves Company” was based on the Stephen King novel Misery, while “Now It’s Dark” was inspired by the David Lynch film Blue Velvet, specifically the behavior of the sexually depraved, self-asphyxiating, murderous sociopath Frank Booth, as played by Dennis Hopper. The song was years later made into simlish for the radio on the The Sims PC game. The song “Make Me Laugh” is critical of Televangelism, a popular target of thrash metal bands of that period. The majority of the album’s music was composed by drummer Charlie Benante while lyrics were composed by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian.
Although the album contains some of what would become Anthrax’s best known songs such as “Antisocial” and “Be All, End All”, critical reception was lukewarm. The album failed to live up to the expectations, commercial and otherwise, set by the band’s previous releases, Spreading the Disease, Among the Living.
State Of Euphoria is unfairly forgotten among these guys rich discography, even though it has some of their most fresh exciting tunes. Maybe it doesn’t have the brilliance and power of its predecessor, yet it is still plenty of fine riffs and delightful melody. By 1988, they already found their distinctive identity and sound, but they had to improve it even more, making it complex and intricate in their own way, something they’d do on album Persistence Of Time.

Requested by Anon: One-Shot in which Sherlock has a sister for whom he loves and cares about more than he does for anyone else… Thanks! :)
Sorry for the wait!!
Sherlock walked down the street of London in a brighter mood
than usual. With flowers in his hand and a new case to discuss he briskly
headed over to his sisters flat, hoping she would provide some insight.
He reached the door and raised his hand to knock but you
opened the door before he could. You were surprised at Sherlock’s sudden visit
and stopped suddenly, Dennis bumping into the back of you. “Oh Sherlock!” you
said in surprise.
Sherlock automatically made eye contact with Dennis, sending
him a dead glare. You looked between the two men to see Dennis staring at the
flowers in Sherlock’s hand. “Uh-oh,” you thought. “Sherlock, this is my
boyfriend… Dennis. Dennis this is my brother
Sherlock,” you told them.
A flash of relief swept over Dennis face and was quickly
replaced by a happy smile as he extended his hand to greet Sherlock. Sherlock
on the other hand didn’t removed his glare from Dennis which seemed to increase
in intensity after you said he was your boyfriend.
“Sherlock why don’t you come inside?” you offered. Sherlock
swept into your flat, never looking away from Dennis. The awkwardness seemed to
radiate and the flat was filled with an uncomfortable silence. “Ummm… Sherlock,
would you like some tea?” you asked.
“It’d be lovely,” he said, still staring at Dennis.
“Okay…” you said shortly and retreated into your kitchen
leaving Sherlock and Dennis alone.
“So your Y/N’s brother?” he asked.
“That I am,” he said simply. Dennis re-extended his hand to
try to make peace with Sherlock who placed the flowers carefully on your table.
“Being Y/N’s brother I think it is only far for me to say that I’m not taking
quite a liking to you. I find myself rather protective of her and trust me… Was
it Dennis?… I can make your death look like an accident. Do not, under any
circumstances, hurt my sister. I will find you.”
Dennis was taken aback by this but wasn’t going to be scared
away so easily. “Look… Was it Sherlock?… I really like Y/N and I’m not going
to be frightened so easily. The thought of doing something to hurt her had
never crossed my mind and it never shall. Y/N is the best thing in my life
right now and I’m not going to be scared off by her sociopathic brother.”
Sherlock widened his eyes at Dennis’ retort. “None of Y/N’s
other boyfriends had lasted till the end of Sherlock’s speech, let alone not
back down after,” Sherlock said, a smile gracing the detective’s face. “Maybe you’re
the right man for Y/N,” he told Dennis, extending his hand.
Dennis smiled at the gesture and gladly took it. You walked
back into the room to see the two boys getting along great. “Did something
happen while I was in the other room?” you asked.
The two both looked up and you and back at each other. “No,
of course not Y/N,” Sherlock said before returning to his conversation.

“Dear God, thank you for the salty pig meat we are about to eat, along with the rest of the indigestible swill. And thank you for our new charade of our family. My father ran away when I was only six. If I’d have known any better, I would have joined him,. And, also, because she’s been trying to get back into this house ever since she lost it, Lord, a big thank you for blinding the asshole that’s doing my mother, so that he can’t see what everybody knows. She doesn’t really love him.”
