TalesFromThePizzaGuy: Protip: When they try to scam you out of your pizza, lie about where it's going
I delivered for Domino’s through college, and I came up with a trick for dealing with people trying to scam you out of your pizza during busy festivals and events.
Each year, we’d have motorcycle rallies that would flood all the hotels with bikers, and we’d be balls-to-the-wall busy all day. Hotel deliveries all day. $200+ a night in tips, easy.
The problem is around dinner time, traffic is stalled, people are drunk and hungry, deliveries are running behind… I’d be walking up to a hotel with a bag of pizzas and people down in the parking lot would LEGIT walk up to me with cash in hand and pretend to be the people who ordered.
So I started lying to test them. Dude walks up to me with cash, so I peek in my bag and say, Oh, you’re Econolodge room 334? (there’s not even a room 334 lol). With a straight face, he says, “Yep, that’s me!” and extends his money to me. Oh, this one’s going to room 201 (the actual room), yours will be here soon. (Bye Felicia.)
