I know what you’re thinking, “That song with the guys acting like babies?” Yes it was 90s pop and for a brief moment in time it was everywhere, but it also was the only introduction I could have had to the amazing singer/songwriter Justin Currie.
Previous releases from this British band didn’t register anywhere around me, and at the ripe age of 11, and newly introduced to VH1, this song made me happy. And I’m lucky that the song was catchy enough to take with me through my teens and twenties. Every year I hear something new or find a new layer of the album, Twisted, that fits me without the album sounding dated or lame. It’s a collection of wonderfully written basic rock songs, “Roll To Me” just had to be there to get the word out.

i was going through a bunch of old recordings this week and came across what i believe is referred to as a “gem”. we did this some time in 2008, sitting in a little circle around a field recorder thing in my parents’ living room, and that’s my dad playing mandolin, mom playing violin, with shelby and i each playing a guitar and singing words. wish we had done more like this. i think it’s really special.
