A new challenger approaches… Only to learn that the universe is, surprisingly, big enough for two totally cool and totally strong Jason Todds.

Sorta feels like the Port Royal level of KH2, huh? :)

Super excited to get to post this collab that I worked on with the AMAZINGLY talented @11thsense. Gosh their art is stunning… Definitely one of my favorite artists on Tumblr! Please go check out their art and follow them!!

bonjour! since i started teaching myself french a few months ago, i thought it would be a good idea to immerse myself by listening to some french music. a lot of french music, actually. here are some of my favorites! (requested by @athenastudying)

cœur de pirate

she’s canadian + my absolute favorite artist at the moment! her songs are more on the melancholy side, but they have a lovely vintage vibe. also her music videos are v creative so definitely check those out as well! faves: crier tout bas, adieu, ensemble

indila

i’m not usually crazy about indie pop in english but I love indila’s music in french! her songs have a good beat and i often find myself belting out her songs during my solo dance parties. oops. faves: dernière danse, tourner dans le vide, sos

stromae

stromae’s music is actually one of the things that inspired me to start learning french!! his music is a blend of hip hop and electronic, which isn’t usually my thing, but i absolutely adore his music. faves: papaoutai, tous les memes, alors on danse

mika

his songs are super catchy and upbeat! i listened to “boum boum boum” for the first time (w the music video) when i knew about four words of french and ended up thinking it was about guns? (spoiler alert: it’s about sex), but i still love it. p sure these are his only two songs in french but i have played them on repeat more times than i care to admit. faves: elle me dit, boum boum boum

fréro delavega

i only discovered their music recently (Fréro Delavega is a two-man duo), and it took me about 0.3 seconds to fall in love with their songs. their songs have a lot of great harmony, and they’re lighthearted and fun to listen to. faves: mon petit pays, ton visage

joyce jonathan

another recent find! i like to play her music on my phone when i walk to school in the mornings because it’s p relaxing. faves: je ne sais pasça ira

édith piaf

i practically grew up on edith piaf, even before i started learning french properly. her music is wonderful and definitely classic. faves: la vie en rose, a l'enseigne de la fille sans coeur,  non, je ne regrette rien

+more

i love these songs, but i have yet to listen to more music from these artists! they’re still fantastic

badaboum / buridane
coups et blessures / bb brunes
l’air de rien / margaux avril
les jours electriques / jenifer
on trace ma route / christophe maé
on ira / zaz
on ne vit qu'une fois /  sidoine
sur ma route / black m
tombé sous le charme / christophe mae

au revoir + shoutout @ciralism for recommending coeur de pirate to me in the first place!! xx

anonymous asked:

Holy shit I love your analysis' of Jimin and Namjoon!! Would you mind doing one for Jungkook as well? I know a lot of people were confused as to why Namjoon put him in Ravenclaw over Gryffindor/Slytherin.

Hello~

It’s really weird for me that you guys actually care about and value my opinions  on this whole business so thank you so much for giving my ramblings the time of day omg

for those who are wondering about my thoughts on gryffindor!namjoon and slytherin!jimin here’s the links to those:

Namjoon as a Gryffindor || Jimin as a Slytherin

So like, I really. really. really. love the idea of Ravenclaw Jeon. (But listen… I used to be a hardcore Slytherin!Jeon person okay, so I understand your feels on this. I do.)

 here goes nothing

Ravenclaw Jungkook confused a lot of people. And I really get it because Ravenclaw was so fucking shafted in the books.

We had so many Gryffindors and Slytherins to relate to, and we had a fair share of badass Hufflepuffs (TONKS) to base our opinions off of. But there were only a few Ravenclaws that were given the time of day in the books, and only one of those was a major character. We had Luna, Trelawney, Lockehart, and Cho. Cho’s amazing character was wasted by JK – she was written with the personality of a dish rag and didn’t really get the spotlight she deserved. Trelawney was presented as a crazy old lady who sometimes ?? served a purpose. Lockehart was an idiot. All we really had was Luna.

But it wasn’t just the characters. Ravenclaw has a really weird reputation. Before I wrote this, I asked a bunch of my casual and hardcore HP fan friends to tell me the characteristics they associated with each house. And I got pretty much what I expected:

  • Gryffindor: Leaders, brave, courageous, brash, strong
  • Slytherin: Cunning, resourceful, calculating, perfectionists
  • Hufflepuff: Loyal, kind, hard-working, determination, cheerful
  • Ravenclaw: Smart…?? they are… smart people?? They do things…….smartly……

Like for real. Whenever I asked people what traits they associated with Ravenclaw, all anyone was ever able to tell me was that Ravenclaws were supposedly smart. And that’s got a lot to do with the fact that when the sorting hat sings off about all the houses, it lists all these great traits for the other houses, but when it comes to Ravenclaw it says this:

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.

And then the books go on to say that Ravenclaws are,

characterised by their wit, intelligence, and wisdom.

So maybe you’re like me, and I am REALLY guilty of this, but when I first read this in the books I kinda just thought these all meant the same thing. So maybe that’s where we got this idea that all Ravenclaws are good for are being smart.

But it wasn’t until I looked up the actual definition of each word that I realized these were all saying really different things:

Intelligence - the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.
Wit - a natural aptitude for using words and ideas in a quick and inventive way to create humor.
Wisdom - the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.

^^^^this is just webster dictionary definitions here. The bolded words are the ones I want to focus on.

Skill. See – Ravenclaws are supposedly smart. But this doesn’t always have to mean BOOKSMART, and I think that’s where we had a lot of trouble with Jeon. No one is saying he is dumb or anything, but he’s no Namjoon.

Notable examples of this trait include Lockehart, who was pretty shitty at a lot of things, but had the street smarts enough to pass off his big whole scam for years and years, and was especially gifted in certain charms.

Then there’s Luna, who while shown to be really good at solving riddles, was also portrayed as really physically skilled. In Dumbledore’s Army, while being taught how to conjure a Patronus by Harry, Luna was the first to get it right. She was fourteen at the time, and was such a skilled witch that she was able to perform an incredibly difficult charm - that even adults had trouble with - after like…….mere minutes of teaching.

Does this sound like someone you know?? I’ll give you an example: Observe this VERY determined Hufflepuff not give up on his dreams and finally have all his hard work pay off… only for someone to come in and get it right almost instantly.

Or maybe… “Hey guys, this dance move you made up looks pretty cool – mind if I watch you do it like once and a half and then nail it instantly?”

And if you’re ever in doubt about just how skilled Jungkook is… remember that he turned down seven other agencies to join BigHit. That’s how many people were after him and recognized his talent. (This also ties in to my thoughts on the part about good judgement – Jungkook obviously saw a lot of potential in Namjoon and BigHit in general, so much so that he turned down tons of other companies to be there. He saw something a lot of other people did not… and it ended up being the best decision he ever made.)

But I think another really telling aspect of Jungkook’s Ravenclaw personality is that he isn’t always perfect at everything. He’s not always good at something right away – but that won’t stop him working really hard to get good

In Rookie King he was shown to be at the most pretty average at bowling. He wasn’t terrible, but he was about as good as you and I would be after playing a few rounds with a little luck. Well, Golden Maknae Jungkook could not stand to not be the best at something, so he mentions sometime later (13:10) that he’s hired a coach to teach him how to bowl…. and then just a few months later uploads a video of himself getting a strike like it’s no god damn big deal at all. And he looks pretty proud of himself too.

But all the major Ravenclaws were also shown time and time and time again as being a little…. scatterbrained. Luna, Lockehart, and Trelawney especially, and to an extent even Cho. And Jungkook is no exception. He’s… pretty gullible. And DEFINITELY scatterbrained.

But wit, intelligence, and wisdom are not the only three traits associated with Ravenclaw. There are a lot of other traits you may not really know about, because again – Ravenclaws were woefully under-represented in the series. There’s quite a few others listed for this house:

  • Creative
  • Individuality
  • Eccentric
  • Quirky
  • Jealousy/Envy
  • Competitive

So imma just go down the list because I’m really tired and I can’t made good word things rn

Creative

it’s no secret that Jungkook is a pretty talented artist. He’s a pretty damn good photographer too. (This will always be one of my favorite photos ever of Jimin – and Jungkook took it.) And he’s a talented lyricist as well. He’s an extremely good dancer and has a beautiful voice too – but you guys know this already.

Individuality

Take a look at how he expresses his individuality through his song covers.

Eccentric & Quirky

You guys thought the fact that Lockehart, Trelawney, and even heckin Luna were all in the same house was a coincidence? Ravenclaws are NOTORIOUS for being Extra™ . I’m not kidding! This is literally a personality trait of Ravenclaws that we overlook so often from these weirdos. And Jeon fuckin Jungkook invented the word eccentric:

you’d be here forever if i kept going so… you get the point. eccentric is jungkook’s middle name.

Jealousy/Envy

Jeonlous exists in this god forsaken fandom, and I ain’t gonna link it and open THAT can of worms, but if you’re feeling so inclined and care to enter the seventh circle of hell, feel free to look it up… but tread carefully.

Competitive

When I got the first ask about Ravenclaw Kook I had woken up at 3am and sleepily looked at my emails. I saw the ask and immediately had to jot down my ideas to keep for the next day, and all I managed to write in my sleep stupor was this

and then i promptly fell back asleep.

I was referring to this, and if you don’t feel bad for poor Jin in this situation I don’t know what to tell you. Jungkook is intensely competitive, even over small things like board games. He was so intent on winning that game that he literally assaulted someone five years his senior to sabotage them.

And then this is him trying to win a dance-off… doing the most, as usual.

And also?? He was literally banned from the gym because he was getting too buff. And look at him take out that guy in wrestling… and then demolish poor Jimin, the smallest member of BTS in arm wrestling when he could have… you know… let him win or something……

It’s a pretty well known meme within the fandom that Jungkook is competitive and always trying to outdo the others.

But when it comes down to it, Ravenclaws are still known for being smart, right? We can take all these other traits and apply them to Jeon but what about his brain?

He’s actually kinda smart. He is able to cover a song in perfect English even though he doesn’t speak the language all that well (but well enough to constantly correct others’ English and he’s good enough to tell you he’s really not all that interested in participating in English Time anyways)

And I mean…. he can outsmart the other members pretty well…………..

But I think one of the most important things to note about Jungkook being in Ravenclaw is to look at who sorted him, Namjoon: Namjoon himself gave Jungkook the nickname “Golden Maknae”. He is constantly saying that Jungkook can do anything, or watch this Jungkook can do this, or wow look at him go, or he’s so talented this and that. Is it really any surprise that Namjoon would put Jungkook in to a house known for being highly skilled when he believes no less of the kid?

Jungkook has some pretty Slytherin-like qualities – but tons of canon HP characters and the BTS members themselves have traits that are shared by all four houses. It’s just a matter of where he fits best.

I mean TL;DR, Jeon says it best himself:

vel im so sorry to be asking this but i just dont know what to do you are so good at drawing and youre only 17 and im 16 and yet i feel stuck drawing the same shittty sketch over and over and i just want to know how you got so good at drawing people environments clothing anatomy e ver y th in g again im so sorry to ask this and i really dont mean any harm but its frustrating to see someone who is basically your age draw so much better

Hmmm, well you’re only 16, you know? I know people say this a lot- but you’re still very young, and it’s never too late to improve! People can still do amazing things as they get older. I also say this over and over- even if others seem to have “natural talent” practice as much as you can and you can put yourselves at their level, too. If you feel like your sketches are shitty, that means you are seeing the problems in your art and you are beginning to improve!

The way I got good at drawing environments and anatomy was observing things closely in real life, artbooks, and my favorite artists. This is VERY important. You can even try emulating other artstyles and reference as practice. One thing I would constantly do it color pick or eyedrop pictures I take to figure out how colors work with the atmosphere around them in different setting. REFERENCING IS KEY to success. It’s very easy to get frustrated, but please remember that age is not the determinant factor in success, and you can definitely get to where you want to be if you push yourself REASONABLY. The artist world is very competitive among people our age online (and I also know this from being in an art school) but let it be ONLY a factor in making you try harder. Best of luck to you, and any of you guys are free to message me for tips that I use to help myself improve!

Habitica ideas for students

I’ve been using Habitica for a while now and I love it. The reason I love it so much is that I can use it to track pretty much everything, even apart from the normal productivity stuff, if I’m a little creative.

As for setting all of this up, I highly recommend doing that on desktop. The mobile app is great for on the go but I wouldn’t recommend it for putting an entire new system in place (maybe that’s just me, though).

So here are some maybe a little more unconventional ideas for Habitica usage:

HABITS

My habits are mostly positive with few exceptions because it’s much easier to reward yourself for doing something than to punish yourself for not doing something, in my opinion. Plus, I feel like it works out, too, because after all, you do usually want to feed your pets or buy equipment or buy quests.

  • Water tracker: Drinking water is important, yo. The way I go about this is I have a positive habit called “1l of water” and I just hit the + for every liter I drink. I’ve set it to reset daily so I can see at how many liters I roughly am at for the day. If you struggle with drinking water more, you can also just put “drink a glass of water” and set the difficulty to hard instead of easy, as I have it set because at this point I’m pretty used to drinking a shit ton of water, I just like to keep an overview in case I’m busy and forget. That’s the beauty of Habitica vs other apps, you can modify it to your needs!
  • Meet friends: This one I have set to reset every week so that I can see at a glance whether I’m having a social life. Having “high density” fun (as Thomas Frank frequently puts it) is crucial to my mental health, yet I tend to do it too little especially when I’m stressed and instead sit there on my phone wondering where the hours went and feeling generally very blah. I only have this as a positive habit because I don’t want to and need to force myself to do something with friends every single day (what’s up fellow introverts), but I’m aiming for at least once a week of my own accord, so not counting when I see them in a uni context or at fixed activities. I have this set on hard to motivate myself to actually do it, too, since I have to leave the house to fulfill it.
  • Color: As you may have noticed (X, X) coloring is a bit of a hobby of mine so the habit isn’t really necessary right now while I’m still technically on break and have more time to do it, but I like to keep it in there anyway. I usually color while listening to podcasts because that goes hand in hand, and many podcasts I listen to are also somewhat educational (hmu with your favorites, I’d love to discover some new ones!) while still expanding my horizons beyond what I learn at uni. This one I have set to medium, because while it is a hobby that I like to do, there’s definitely some resistance because you have to be very focused and can’t really do other stuff except listen to podcasts simultaneously. Coloring is very therapeutic to me, and I’m not an artsy person, so maybe give it a shot! You can also replace coloring with any artistic habit, obviously.
  • Read or listen to podcast instead of watching TV: I love doing both of these things yet they start to get infinitely harder when you’re at uni and running around town trying to stay alive during the semester. Reading especially is very beneficial to my mental health and I love doing it, but it’s just so much harder to pick up a book than to hit play on Netflix. I should probably split these two habits up now that I think about it, because I do tend to read much less than I listen to podcasts. Either way, the difficulty setting here is hard with a daily reset although it doesn’t really matter that much as both daily and weekly resets are equally suited for the purpose in my opinion.
  • One book per week: Ah yes, my reading goal. I am terrible at reading slowly and steadily during the year which leads me to binge read on vacation. Now, while I love doing that and I don’t perceive it as a stressful, I would prefer to also read during the year. This habit is set to hard with a weekly reset, and it is both a positive and a negative (which means I probably have to hit the - today, siiiiigh).
  • Work out: During the school year, I weirdly don’t struggle with working out a lot because I see it as a study break and I’m one of those people who actually looks forward to working out and hitting some goals. This one also has a weekly reset, hard difficulty and is both a positive and a negative habit, however, I only hit the - when I was supposed to work out and didn’t. This is partly the reason why I don’t want my workout as a daily, I don’t like having fixed days because sometimes you gotta move your schedule around a bit and I simply aim to work out 4-5 times a week. I’m looking into starting an exercise class for swimming next semester, though, so if I do join that one, I will absolutely make it a daily.
  • Meal not eaten at desk: Kind of a weird one. I started developing this terrible habit of constantly doing everything at my desk last year, especially eating. Now, if you don’t have a ton of space and roommates, it makes sense for your desk to be basically where you spend your entire day, but I want my desk to be as much of a work only, no play space as it can be, even with limited space, and eating at it is a very bad idea to keep that mental separation in place. Also, I want to be focus on what I’m eating as much as possible and not do five things simultaneously. So, in order to motivate myself to eat my food at the dining room table, I’ve made this a simply positive habit with a medium difficulty and a daily reset as I usually eat three meals a day.
  • Cook: If you follow me, you probably already know I’m a big proponent of home-cooked meals. But cooking is time consuming, exhausting and hard sometimes when all you want after a long day at uni is some sushi. I aim to cook at a proper meal at least two or three times a week and try to avoid takeout as much as possible. To motivate me, I have this as a positive habit, at a hard difficulty and a weekly reset
  • Go to bed before midnight: I struggle with this. A lot. However, I do need my sleep - when I don’t sleep at least seven hours, I’m unfocused, cranky and tired. Plus, it’s really bad for athletic recovery. Getting to bed before midnight at least ensures I’ll be getting seven hours (since I try to get up at 7:00), ideally I’d get eight or nine, but I’m trying to stay realistic here. I have this as a positive habit with a weekly reset and at a hard difficulty. I don’t see the point in making it a daily because I know I won’t do it (I could, however, maybe make “get to bed before 1:00 a daily, to get brownie points for getting to bed even earlier than I needed to, I might yet do that).

EDIT: It’s been brought to my attention by the lovely @gold-n-mind that mobile doesn’t show the counter, something I didn’t really think of because I only use Habitica of my phone when I can’t avoid it but mostly use it on desktop. You can still set up everything how I mention it, but you will have to check the count on desktop, as of right now there doesn’t seem to be another way for mobile users. For potential mobile only users, this is what I’m referring to:

DAILIES

These, just like the habits, will be very personal. My dailies tend to change a lot because when I’m back home at my parent’s I don’t really need cleaning dailies for example. But here are some ideas nevertheless:

  • Get up within 15 minutes of waking up: I suck at this. I tend to waste away time in my bed, staying on my phone for 30 minutes before I even think about getting up. But a quick jumpstart to my day is extremely beneficial for my productivity, so I’m trying to work on it. This is due every day since lounging about in bed makes me tired and cranky and consumes time I could be using to eat breakfast while watching youtube.
  • Morning skincare/evening skincare: Pretty self-explanatory. Due every day.
  • Open window: Due every day. I try to always open my window before I start studying, as I don’t really leave it open over night and fresh air is obviously very helpful for da brain. Also, the cold air tends to help me wake up.
  • Make bed: I never used to do this. But then I read “Unfuck your habitat” and I saw the merit in starting your day on a positive, structured note while making your room seem more tidy. Also, these easy dailies give me something to check off before getting started on my harder to dos, which is a concept known as momentum. Due every day.
  • Do a 20/10 of cleaning somewhere: Another lesson from UFYH. It means you do 20 minutes of tidying somewhere, then take a 10 minute break. I have found I rarely really need more than 20 minutes, and you can easily integrate one 20/10 somewhere in your daily schedule. It’s not fun, but constantly chipping away at messes means you don’t have to do huge binge-cleans. Due every day, but usually not needed every day.
  • Take out trash if needed: Tasks like these (this one is exemplary because I have a lot of these when I’m in my apartment during the semester) are great because they get you check if you have to do something every day and if they’re due, you do them right away since you’re already there checking! If they’re not due, you can easily check something off your dailies without actually doing work. Of course, the difficulty setting on these is usually trivial, but taking out the trash is a very trivial task, you just tend to put if off forever. Other ideas for this are put on laundry, check the mail, etc.
  • Week review/weekly planning: This is due every Sunday. I suck at following through and do need to get better at it, but actually looking at your week in advance and knowing what’s gonna happen when as well as getting into the mindset for Monday does help.
  • Study dailies: These will vary wildly depending on what kind of study system and schedule you have! I have a general study daily with a checklist that says “x pages” and “flashcards”. I also now have a separate flashcard daily with a checklist for every set of flashcards I’m trying to get done. Like I said, it will vary - for some of you having a daily with a certain goal of pomodoros may work (I don’t really utilize the pomodoro method a lot, though), some of you just need a push so “study for 30 minutes” may be enough to set you on a productive course. I change up my study dailies most frequently of all of them because they change a lot depending on what subject I’m focusing on, but most of the time I’ll only have them due during the week, sometimes also on Saturdays.
  • Go to class: I don’t really struggle with this because I literally cannot skip more often than once or they fail me, but why not reward yourself for leaving your comfy flat and braving the real world? These are also easy to set up because classes generally take place on a weekly basis, just set them as due on the weekday when the class is, and if you don’t struggle with going to class like me, you can always set the difficulty to trivial.

TO DOS

I won’t really go in depth on the to dos, because I feel like they’re pretty self-explanatory. I will explain a couple, but apart from that it’s pretty personal and whatever you have going on, just throw it on there.

  • Grocery list: This is the only more “unconventional” use I have for to dos. I like to make one to do that says “grocery shop” and then put everything I need as a separate sub-point. This works really well and I like to do it this way mainly so I don’t have my shit spread out over five list apps. The only drawback is that you can’t share that list with friends (unless you shell out €€ and get a group plan), so if you have a joint shopping list with a roommate, you might not be able to use this.
  • University readings: I like to make huge tasks of my required reading with tons of sub-points so that the reward is proportional to the pain (lol). The drawback to this method is that you don’t get the instant gratification of being able to check off a task at the end of the day, but I use dailies to work like this so my to dos are kind of a more long-term overview of where I want to be by what date. You can be as detailed with this as you want, but I just kind of use the big chapter headings. You could also divide it by pages, though. Whatever floats your boat.

                               “LOOK AT THIS SWEETHEART”

Tried something new and painted over one of my favorite pictures of to make him into our darling Kylo. I never really think of myself as an artist when it comes to painting things and drawing things, but I thought I would try this out since I can’t seem to create something from scratch. It was kind of fun. And definitely difficult to do with only a trackpad. PLEASE DO NOT REPOST, USE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, OR REMOVE CAPTION.

No one asked for this but I really wanted to post it. This is my favorite song right now and I feel as if I really relate to the lyrics as I could definitely use a love song. Maren Morris is one of my newest favorite artists. sirvinter  asked:

hello !! i love your art a lot and i was wondering if you have any advice on character design? ive never done it seriously but i have a hard time starting. do you have any tips for an absolute beginner? thank you and have a nice day !!!

Hello! Firstly, thanks so much! I love character design but I’m trying to get much better at it, especially with painting. I can try to give some advice on what teachers/professional artists have said and that I definitely know to be true:

1. Every single physical trait a character has should show their backstory/who they are. For example, don’t just add a cool looking scar to a character because you think it’s cool. Add one if it adds more depth to their backstory! Everything on the character should be there for a reason.

2. Silhouette concepts are my favorite part in the design because it allows you to quickly explore a lot of clothing, armor, body shapes, etc. Having a pose makes the character have more of an exciting silhouette to look at as well (this is something I need to do better on because I love neutral poses hahaha).

3. Alright I’m gonna go on a rant about the importance of using reference here: make sure you have a TON references to draw from before you start a character! Many of my teachers require that students come in with pages filled with photo refs before they start any drawing. The better researched your costuming/props/etc. is the better your drawing will be! This was one of the many reference pages I created for my sci-fi Chinese mafia project, for example:

For some reason a lot of people think that pasting photo refs onto your PS canvas and referencing them is “cheating.” That is just SILLY. Obviously people shouldn’t trace an image nor should they copy the photo pixel by pixel when making original work (that just makes the learning process slower). But the more stuff you look at while drawing the better your stuff gets. And as you get more confident with drawing, you can deviate more and more from the reference (ex. combining more than one pose together, changing the colors, lighting, etc.). Here are the references I used for a hitchhiker character:

A lot of my character stuff is referenced from movie screenshots, and this is because the characters in films move so the reference gets a bit more… elusive/hard to notice? My final cover art was referenced from a scene in Scarface, because no way am I wasting precious time and energy to try to guess how to draw complex clothing folds and etc. when I can pump out a better piece in half the time by looking at reference:

Make sure to draw from life as well! Drawing people everywhere you go gives you a broader sense of the endless possibilities of characters you can make.

Anyways, I hope this helped and that I didn’t rant on for too long! ^o^ Have fun!

ETA:
While I love figure skating I don’t always get my terms right on all of the moves (and believe me it bugs the crap out of me when I get my details wrong!), and this was another instance of that. I’ve been corrected that this isn’t called a “catch foot” even though the anime referenced it as such with Yurio and it’s what Google brought up when I was searching for reference! (Google, why have you forsaken me??) This move is actually called a one handed Bielmann spiral. Oh well. It works better in the title, anyway.

Thank you, @accioharo!
=====

I think this is the most anatomically contorted pose I’ve ever attempted, so it was definitely fun if not on the challenging side. I want to see Yuuri do a catch foot spiral Bielmann spiral or spin so bad in the series, I can’t even. It’s my personal favorite figure skating move. Y’all seemed to like Ina Bauer in Blue so much that I figured a companion piece would make a good “thank you”.

So… thank you!! I appreciate each and every one of you. :D

“Opal’s Day Off” - Steven Universe #8

Now that things have calmed down a little after the Stevenbomb, here is my 4th guest comic for the Steven Universe comic from boomstudios!  This one definitely has to be my favorite out of the guest comics I’ve drawn.  I had a lot of fun with it from start to finish and I’m still thrilled I got to make an official comic featuring Opal!

I also had fun adding some extra little details to this comic, so see if you can spot them all!

The BSD Artist Rec List No One Asked For

This is by no means exhaustive, and feel free to add to it because I’m always looking for new artists! BSD is full of amazing artists who all deserve to be appreciated! Most are tumblr, some are Twitter:

Em's 2.5k Fic Recommendation

Why hello there! There’s 2.5k people following and that’s absolutely unbelievable. Thank you all for following me, reading and commenting on my imagines, talking to me, or even just being there and supporting me through my time of being a writer. I’ll never forget it. *cue sappy music*

These are imagines that have come off the top of my head, all Teen Wolf related or actors in TW, that have stuck with me through my time on here, stories that I would go back and read through. From me to you, thank you all for being so amazing at writing.

And I probably forgot so many amazing people off this list, but keep up the good work guys. And remember, I’ve said it before; I find it so hard to read Teen Wolf imagines lately - I’m stuck in a world full of Stucky lately - so if you have wrote an amazing imagine within the last little while and it’s not on this list, to be honest I probably haven’t read it (I know that sounds awfully rude, I don’t mean it to come across like that either but it’s the truth)

I had 20+ fics here, but I had to cut it down to 11! because it was just a never ending thing, I hate leaving people out but I’m that nice I would have added every single person I follow

This will, and always will, be the first on my list for any recommendations that I’ll give. This list is not in order of preference, but I’ll say this once, THIS WILL ALWAYS GET FIRST PLACE. This story made me an emotional wreck and it truly is a work of art. Kenzie is so damn wonderful at writing, and if I could reread this story all my life, I happily would. Who doesn’t love a 50 era story though? Slicked back hair, leather jackets.

I sure am a sucker for best friend reader x Stiles, this story was so cute and so well-written. I don’t usually read stories based around the plot line of Teen Wolf but I always make an exception for this one <3

I found this story whilst going through the Theo tag on Tumblr, and I just fell in love with it straight away. I absolutely love the banter between the reader and Theo about the dread doctors, it’s so light hearted and the smut is ace!!

If I could, I would add every single imagine Mal has wrote to this list because her smut is literally the best smut you will need. Ever. This story is just so wonderful and it literally had me shook from the start. And like I mean, I would love to have Stiles wank over me too!

This story was an emotional rollercoster for me. It’s definitely my absolute favorite imagine from Bee. It’s so real, and I would 100% become a makeup artist if I got to fall in love with Dylan. I do love stories based on movie sets with Dylan, he’s just so wonderful just like this story!

I don’t read many Peter stories, I don’t know why, but this one was just so damn cute and amazing. I love a wounded and shirtless Peter, and as always, cocky as fuck. This story made the butterflies erupt in my stomach. It was just do damn good!

Of course I had to add the queen to this list. I was so tempted to tag your complete Brett masterlist *cough* here y’all go *cough*. Joey is definitely the best Brett writer out there, she captures him so damn well! I love the concept of this story and the smut is just squeal-worthy.

If anyone knows me, or if you’ve been following me for a while now, you know I LOVE DEREK HALE. I LOVE HIM. So much, and protective Derek is definitely no different. And when Derek grabs the reader to spin her around, MY HEART it exploded. This story is truly amazing, and I 100% recommend for Soph to write my Derek Hale smut! Plus, I was going through my followers list and Sophie was the FIRST ever person I followed her on Tumblr, so amen to her.

I don’t actually think I follow this page, but I got this sent in by @awesomelion and I remembered it straight away. This was the first fic I read when I joined Tumblr and I reread it when I got it sent in, and guys IM STILL SO IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC how many times will I have to cry over it?? I completely forgot what had happened and it broke my heart reading it again.. BRB CRYING

I remember I went into a reading slump and couldn’t read anything and I was scrolling through Tumblr and this came up, and I immediately fell in love with it. I love Jealous Scott, and Alpha/Beta/Omega smut so this story was perfect for me. It’s absolutely amazing and so well written. If anyone hasn’t read this, and is a Scott lover like me, give it a read because it’s so amazing!

This… this is just so perfect. I love it. Everyone knows how much I adore AU and Teacher Dylan is no different. Chloe is probably one of the best writers in the fandom, and even though shes on a hiats at the moment, I;m still excited for Part 4 of this! PLEASE GET IT OUT! But honestly, this story is pure smut but yet somehow still so fluffy that my heart just explodes!

And as well as fic recommendations, I just want to say a quick thank you to all people who give me feedback, like & reblog my writing. I do love writing, and it means so much that y’all stick around.

anonymous asked:

What do you think of Jack Kirby? Ya' ask me, he definitely deserves the title of King of Comics, and Marvel and Stan Lee definitely screwed him over.

My favorite comic of all time is Fantastic Four. Do you even need to ask?

One skill I think is undertaught, and which Kirby had in spades, is the ability to tell a story smoothly with the panels, the “film school” ability to make still panel shots “cut” together to tell a story. Being a comics artist is like being a director. For instance, Kirby is one of the earliest artists to not need “transition captions,” that is to say, the often parodied “Meanwhile…” If you cut your panels correctly and pace correctly, transition captions are unnecessary. That’s the visual language that Kirby was a master of, and everyone else imitated. (I’ve never liked narrative captions unless they express information that can’t be seen in the panel, like giving information for all five senses. Anything else is the writer “competing” with the artist.)

Likewise, his comics were smart enough to never use what in film they call “dutch angles,” a tilted camera that gives a sense of unreality; unless you have a specific intent in mind, never ever tilt the horizon. Basically, if you want a free course on comic storytelling, read Kirby and see how he does it; it reminds me of how Orson Welles caught on to the language of film by watching John Ford’s Stagecoach over and over and over.

With really important creative people, people always point to tangible, surface-level texture details about why their work works, like Kirby with his dramatic splash pages and “energy” (feet being five feet apart whenever someone throws a punch), or Joss Whedon’s quippy dialogue, self-awareness, and willingness to “invert tropes” (his stories work because they are structurally good, not because of the dialogue, which is surface-level, and his trope subversion always answer the question the story asked and are not an end in and of themselves), and how people dwell on Rod Serling’s gift for “twist endings” over his gift for lunch-pail, unsexy structure. But people respond to these things without being aware of what it is. For instance, ever notice that you can sit down and devour issue after issue of Kirby’s Fantastic Four, but it’s a slog and stop-and-go to read more than one or two issues at a time of comics from the 1950s?

Kirby is great not because of his energy or design for machines, although he did very well at both, but how he figured out how to turn comic panels into a story. In fact, I think the texture level things are maybe the least interesting elements of Kirby. People talk a lot about Kirby’s idiosyncratic inking style when he inked his own work, the so-called “Kirby Crackle,” mostly because it is easy to make fun of and duplicate like the comic equivalent of doing an impression of Jack Nicholson or William Shatner. But Kirby’s art, rated on sheer draftsman ability, always looked so much more polished and clean and beautiful when it was inked by Joe Sinnott, maybe the great unsung hero of Fantastic Four.

Nothing is more boring than resurrecting ancient, long-dead fandom arguments, but I’ve never, ever gone along with the Gary Groth/Comics Journal 1980s idea that “Jack Kirby did everything, Stan Lee did nothing.” Kirby reminds me a lot of George Lucas: unquestionably brilliant and with his own voice, but someone who works best when paired with collaborators who reign him in and bring out the best in him. Nobody achieves success on their own. I don’t think I’m saying anything controversial when I say that Jack Kirby’s best works were the ones he did with a plotter.

If Kirby can be compared to George Lucas, than his 70s DC books were basically his Episode One. Like Episode One, the hype could not have been higher: these books were called “Marvel-killers,” but they were canceled after 20 issues. You know how people say “the book was better?” The Fourth World was extremely derivative of a much better and more fascinating book, maybe my favorite science fiction novel of all time, Roger Zelazny’s “Lord of Light.”

The Fourth World, I think, had a few interesting ideas, but it failed at “the basics,” which is why people don’t respond to it, and why nobody ever lists Fourth World comics as their favorites or shell out big bucks for an Orion or Lightray action figure. Remember that great Red Letter Media review of Episode One where they asked you to identify who the protagonist was for that movie? You can’t do that to New Gods. RLM’s great review of Episode II made a fascinating and under-analyzed point about the need, in overly complex scifi worlds, to have a fish out of water character to analyze what’s going on around you, otherwise you get lost…another lesson in the basics which Fourth World could have benefited from, too. Almost all the characterization in Fourth World is “tell don’t show” stuff, like how in this panel, we are TOLD Glorious Godfrey is a smug sophist who manipulates words…but who doesn’t actually do or say anything a sophist would.Nobody ever has to tell us that the Thing is a gruff, tough-minded guy with an outsize personality and a bad temper, who can be almost a childlike softy sometimes…we are SHOWN it.

Also, Thanos is cooler than Darkseid.

Hi. This maybe a weird thing to ask but now that you a have a taste of Seraen and V's canon personalities. I would love to know if it changes or add to some of your own personal headcanons?

~Oh it’s not weird! (:

-SPOILERS AHEAD-

I think I could tend to write Saeran just a tad bit harsher/rougher than what I am seeing he has the potential to be when it comes to someone he loves. So i’m going to have fun in the future maybe exploring this bit of a softer side to him! I am a bit shocked he loved flowers so much! I think it’s super adorable! I really didn’t expect that!

As for V, I think a lot stayed the same! However, his family life and his views on human relationships and himself were really eye-opening for me! I liked to see that he had flaws like that. It made what we got to see from the original game more understandable, everything makes more sense now. I think most of my headcanons on him were romantic or fluffy things. I am looking forward now to being able to use this deeper part of his personality in my writing!

Also, I definitely HC’d that Saeran enjoyed painting/was a good artist. Now that I know it’s canon that V is…I am very much starting to flesh out a one-shot where they use painting to get closer to one another, haha. I am in love with the idea of them out in one of V’s favorite fields or somewhere remote and beautiful just painting together.

‘Heyahe’ & ‘Gettin’ By’ by ONE

I’m not really in a state to write anything that makes sens, but let’s go, or I’ll never write about it.

1. I am more than proud of him. Never in my life have I waited for an artist to debut like I’ve waited for him to debut. He’s come a long way, and seeing grow as an artist, a person, is very satisfying. He’s now releasing his own music, supported by the company and other great artists. Damn. I don’t have the words anymore.

2. First, Heyahe. Definitely my favorite out of the two, but I think it will change depending on my mood. Producing by GroovyRoom makes it a very good song, but surprisingly (or not) you can still tell it’s his song. My favorite part of the song is how his voice sounds so different from what we heard of him so far. It’s kinda heady, kinda sensual too. A song about innocence, he said. Not believing a single word.

3. Heyahe’s MV is more YG’s style, or something we’d expect from the company : beautiful, but really weird on some part, and not very subtil even though they tried. It’s nice to watch, and he’s really beautiful with those outfits. Clearly, watching the making film, I wasn’t expecting…. that

4. Then Gettin’ by. At the end of the song, my sister told me “But isn’t he rapping?”. She was very surprised by the genre of the song, not really expecting that kind of music from a YG artist. And she’s not the only. That’s what I think is fantastic. YG is slowly going out of his comfort zone, letting in artists that don’t really match his style. JaeWon really isn’t like any other artists from the company, especially with this song. But it’s good nonetheless, calmer, ‘flat’ just like he said, and soothing. The kind of song you listen to calm down.

5. Gettin’ by’s MV is more my kind of aesthetics. Very soft, pastel and clear. It’s the softer and shyer side of JaeWon that shows off there, the kind of style that is appreciated lately in Korea. It’s really pleasing to watch, with a hint of storytelling if you squint. I like that.

6. What I love the most about this debut, it’s that they managed to show a lot of what JaeWon is able to create musically speaking with only two songs. AM, and PM. JaeWon, and ONE. This is how I see it, and I like to believe I’m not the only one. To say it simply, I love his debut, am not disappointed at all.

A last word : please support him. He’s soft and really hardworking.
