deer get out

I was thinking the other day about a celebration the Dalish might have for halla, inspired by Kukur Tihar in Nepal, where they adorn their antlers with herbs and flowers, and paint them with pigment.

A Dalish inquisitor likely wouldn’t have access to any halla, so maybe they’d celebrate with any harts they had instead.

You and your becoming

There were many questions going into this, such as ‘How do I draw a stag?’ and I also decided on trying a different style of shading, so it was a bunch of fun new experiences!

Anddd the other non-deer member, Quill the porcupine. Quill didn’t have a name so the herd just named him after his quills, cause they are super original deer. Some nickname him “pin-cushion” much to Quill’s dismay. Quill is a weaver, and seeing as he lives with a bunch of hooved animals, he is the only weaver. But, he gladly clothes the deer in exchange for his place in the herd.

I kind of wish that Breaking Dawn hadn’t torpedoed Billy Burke’s idea that Charlie knew the Cullens were vampires but was letting it go because they weren’t hurting anyone (and honestly the deer population had been getting out of hand before they showed up anyway).

It makes so much sense, since he grew up with Harry Clearwater and Billy Black, and him noticing weird stuff and just not doing anything about it or even actively helping by covering it up seems more realistic than the local Chief of Police being so totally unobservant and uninvolved.

Since Charlie’s mind is kind of muffled and hard for Edward to read, it’s totally possible that Edward didn’t know that Charlie knew.

Mostly I just would have loved the inevitable scene in Breaking Dawn where Bella’s still trying to cover up what’s going on and Charlie’s just like “so he finally bit you, huh?”
