When you’ve weathered the elements for 105 years, you sometimes need a little routine preservation work. Thomas Podnar (left) and Stefan Dedecek from McKay Lodge Conservation Laboratory, Inc., worked on the statue of Rev. William Corby this week.
The statue was dedicated in 1911, a year after an identical statue was dedicated on the battlefield at Gettysburg. The statues depict Fr. Corby delivering General Absolution to all soldiers on the battlefield on July 2, 1862, the second day of the three-day battle.
