Deck installed! So pumped on this 800sq ft of outdoor space. Choosing materials that fit somewhere in between affordable and quality is one of the more difficult, exhausting, and fun parts of building a house.

I ended up choosing Garapa hardwood decking with hidden fasteners . This was a place I knew I’d be Ok throwing down more of the budget for something that is gonna last. Tough part is material cost, just the wood & fasteners was $7500 vs. $1500 for pressure treated pine.

But the wonderful story with Garapa and it can last 30 years with minimal care and upkeep over the years…picking materials that bring heart and warmth and will last is what this house build is all about.

A Sea Harrier piloted by Lieutenant Commander Tim Gedge RN, Commanding Officer of No 809 Naval Air Squadron, approaches the Cunard container ship ATLANTIC CONVEYOR to test her recently installed flight deck at Devonport. This was the first Sea Harrier to land on the ship. Two RAF Chinooks have already landed and are parked on the flight deck.
