deceiving people

you are not prolife if you kick your queer child out on the streets

you are not prolife if you want the government to cut welfare systems

you are not prolife if support sentient children getting bombed to bits

you are not prolife if  you abandon your transgender child

you are not prolife if you rely on manipulative bullshit and lie to pregnant people

you are not prolife if you actively agree with a movement with a history of murdering abortion doctors and bombing clinics

you are only pro-forced birth and should stop deceiving other people by calling yourself prolife

Trial Captains in the Pokémon anime vs the games
  • Kiawe in the anime: Serious, dependable 'big brother' character
  • Kiawe in the games: The biggest goofball to ever live
  • Sophocles in the anime: Excitable young child, loves everyone and lives life to the fullest
  • Sophocles in the games: Likes gadgets more than people. Doesn't like to be bothered. Loves Big Mo.
  • Lana in the anime: Soft-spoken, shy, believes in everyone, kind soul, innocent and pure
  • Lana in the games: Sarcastic as hell, deadpan snark, lies and exaggerates for fun, deceives people, trains tiny fish into deadly powerhouses in secret, lusts after strapping young swimmers, tiny ball of sin
  • Mallow in both the anime and the games: The 'mom friend.' Cooks.

So I just wanted to talk a little bit about Ryou and Bakura’s relationship to each other. The anime portrays it as a terribly abusive relationship in which Bakura forcibly takes control of Ryou’s body and does a flawless impersonation of him. But in the manga:

theres evidence to suggest that Bakura did not use force. Instead, he earned Ryou’s trust so that Ryou would put the Ring on willingly. Fast forward to Battle City:

Ryou isn’t afraid of wearing the Ring, which means he trusts Bakura and thinks of him as a friend. How else would you explain how he’s acting?

And also there’s this:

Just look at Ryou’s reaction after regaining control of his body! He isn’t scared or confused, which means that he must have willingly allowed Bakura to take control.

And we all know that Bakura is sickeningly good at deceiving people:

If it worked on Yugi, then it would most likely work on Ryou too. They are both horrendously gullible.

So can we all start writing more fanfictions in which Bakura deceives Ryou instead of using force? There are multiple reasons why deception is better:

`1. Ryou doesn’t haven’t to go through trauma.

2. Ryou isn’t weak, and trying to control him by force would be really hard. Deception makes more sense in Bakura’s point of view because it requires less effort.

3. Depending on how dark you want to write Bakura’s character, it’s possible to portray tendershipping as non-abusive. You could have Bakura accidentally start to care about Ryou while pretending to be his friend. I doubt it happened in canon, but fanfics can be written that way.

As a side note, Bakura is utterly terrible at impersonating Ryou. Look:

Whenever the Spirit takes control, he always acts like himself and doesn’t even bother to try to impersonate Ryou, and there’s always someone who questions his identity.

(2009 - 2016)

I don’t know why I chose Sophie, of all people, to deceive the most. I let her in on the secret last of anyone, really, and she was so sweet. She wrote me a letter about my leaving the show, and she bought that I wouldn’t be coming back. We’re all very pally with each other on our set, we’re like family, and she genuinely feels like a little sister to me. So I guess I kind of played tricks on her like an older brother would. - Kit Harington

It was kept from me, Kit told me in the fifth season he was going that was it,” So I wrote him a really long heartfelt letter about how much I was going to miss him, how much I’d loved working with him. He came back the next season and he was like ‘your letter’s so funny, I’ve still got it’ … He does it to just take the mickey out of me now, he shows it to people. - Sophie Turner

“Want to know a secret, Riddle? You’re not the only one who can deceive people”

🕰 Forgetting Spell 🕰

This spell was inspired by the Dean Koontz novel Ashley Bell

“People hide truths about themselves from themselves. Such self-deception is a coping mechanism, and to one extent or another, most people begin deceiving themselves when they’re children.” -Dean Koontz Ashley Bell

🔥 This requires something to be burned. Modifications for a flameless spell will be added at the bottom.

You will need: A watch or clock that can be held or placed directly in front of you, a dark blue (or white) candle, a burn safe container, and a paper and writing utensil.

Optional: Something to hold out the paper, such as tongs, to make it easier to hold in the flame and burn.

When you first preform this spell, it’s best to be done during a new moon in a place you won’t be interrupted.

🕰 Start by lighting your candle.

🔥 Write on your paper the specific memory you need to forget. Try to be very concise, and close any loopholes you can think of.

🕰 Hold or place the watch in front of you and focus deeply on it’s ticking. Say aloud (or in your head) the following: “Everything around me is fading. I am surrounded by a gentile fog. My muscles and thoughts are relaxed as each tick passes from the clock in front of me. This is the forgetting spell. Once destroyed by the flame, the memory written on my paper will no longer be accessible within me. I allow my self to forget.”

🔥 Burn your memory using the flame from your candle. (The ash can be disposed of however you see fit.)

Flameless Alternatives:

💧 Rip your paper into very small bits and release it into flowing water such as into a stream or down the toilet.

🌲 Rip your paper into very small bits and burry it in the ground away from you.

For the speaking part replace “destroyed by the flame” with “released into the water” or “buried in the earth” based on the method you use.

She was Ava, not Ava Gardner the Star. She never believed that the image that they saw was what she really was. And she resented that that image made people expect something, when she wanted to be herself.
-Lena Horne

She felt that life was crappy and that a lot of people got mistreated for weird reasons, and she liked to see people like each other. She was a real good dame.
-Lena Horne

She was exactly the opposite of the roles she played. She looked like a femme fatale and she wasn’t. She was really sweet and dear and lovely…
-Arlene Dahl

I’ve always admired her as an actress and felt she was underrated because people were deceived by her beauty and did not expect more from her.
-Gregory Peck

She had this natural poignancy and her feelings ran very deep. To my mind she developed into a fine actress. I’ve been telling her that for years, and she always waves it off.
-Gregory Peck

She believed in good decent things, she really did. And to the best of her ability, she lived that way.
-Roddy McDowall

If I had my life to live over again, I’d live it the same way. Maybe a few changes here or there, but nothing special. The truth is, honey, I’ve enjoyed my life. I’ve had a hell of a good time.

Hey Clockie,
After “Room For Ruby"I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about gems who have their gem on their navel and how they have the capacity to deceive people but they only seem to mention Rose and Navy…excluding Pink Diamond from that list. She has a navel gem too, so does that mean that she also could be deceptive? What are your thoughts?

It also fails to include Steven, Skinny Jasper, numerous aristocrats we see in The Answer, Smoky Quartz, and Rainbow Quartz.

I think that it’s very funny as much as canon has taken a very strong stance that no two people are going to be interchangeable or identical that the fandom puts a lot of emphasis on trying to categorize Gems.

I don’t know, guys… That scene where everyone’s discussing the most traumatizing part of their life, and Reigen says his was not showing up with bento when he was a kid? I don’t buy it. Reigen’s good at deceiving people. Something he must have picked up as a survival skill when he was growing up. Who’s to say he wasn’t deceiving everyone because he didn’t want to open up to them?

My mind also keeps going back to that part where Mob cries at the thought of beating up a woman. Mob nearly never cries. And although I know part of the reason behind him crying was because he sincerely doesn’t like the thought of hurting women, we also know his mind went to something Reigen said rather than his own thoughts. And unlike other times Mob thought about a lesson Reigen taught him, he cried on the spot.

Had Reigen been particularly emotional when telling Mob this lesson? Had Reigen seemed sad and bothered? Did that add to Mob’s anxiety about breaking one of Reigen’s rules, even in self-defense against a full-grown woman?

Maybe Reigen’s own father was violent towards women. Maybe him and the his mother left his father when they could, and that’s why his mom calls him to make sure he’s doing okay.

And maybe this could be part of the reason why it’s so important for Reigen to be a father-figure to Mob. Why it’s so important for him to not only set this kid on the right path, but also take him out to dinner and protect him in situations where it’s so likely he could die himself. He wants to prove to himself that he could be a better father than his own. He got so caught up in it, he said something extremely manipulative to Mob, and when he left, he thought he couldn’t change who he was and where he came from.

That’s why it was so important to him when Mob told him he was a good person. Maybe it gave him hope that he really was different.

Okay so disclaimer: I’m the kind of person that will use whatever pronouns you want me to he/she/they/zey/or whatever else makes you comfy.

But Pidge is NOT gender fluid, like at all. If you want her to be in a fanfic then whatever, but in Canon she is a girl. She cross dressed not to help gender dysphoria, but to deceive people.

She NEVER expresses the desire to be a boy or anything else. If she wanted to be a boy she wouldn’t have said her line “I can’t man up, I’m a girl”

She sees herself as female, and her personality and fashion should not diminish her gender. That is so freaking sexist!!! A girl does not need to be feminine to be a girl.

Pidge is a perfect example of the word tomboy. She doesn’t really care what people think of her, so long as they respect her agency.

And If you have a problem with this I will personally debate you, and crush you.

What I believe

I feel like I’ve been too negative lately. And I think there’s a shortage of liberals clearly saying what they want and believe.

So here’s my manifesto, more or less. The rules for liberalism, as I practice it.

1. The Truth, Above All

If the facts tell you things you don’t want to hear, accept them. If it turns out that liberalism doesn’t work, stop being a liberal.

The truth is the biggest advantage you can ever have in politics over the long term. So don’t lie to yourself or to anyone else.

If you ever find yourself lying for your cause, denying scientific realities or trying to deceive people into supporting you, you’re probably on the wrong side.

2. The Best For Everyone

Every person matters. Don’t write anyone off as morally irrelevant. Foreigners, misfits, vagrants, criminals, political enemies…if you can make their lives better, do so.

This does not mean giving everyone everything they want. Many people want things that will hurt other people. Liberalism demands that you remember that those other people are people, and deserve your protection from the people who want to hurt them.

Remember, we’re all stuck on this world together.

3. Follow Your Own Rules

Human rights aren’t just for your friends. Laws aren’t just for your enemies.

Liberalism is here to let people of every religion and ideology live together. It’s here to reconcile nearly irreconcilable differences. For this to work at all, you need to obey your own rules even when they’re inconvenient.

Your enemies won’t always do the same for you in return, so make sure your rules aren’t crippling. But follow them. Every person who respects a rule strengthens it.

If you lose an election, and you have at your disposal enough power to overturn the result by force…don’t. Doing so will almost certainly make things worse.

4. Be Pragmatic

Compromises are not to be feared. They’re the way of the world.

Think capitalism is evil? Think taxation is theft? Fair enough. Liberals don’t have to be capitalist or statist. But they do have to respect the limitations of reality.

You do not have the strength to destroy everyone who disagrees with you. You need to be willing to negotiate with your enemies. Sometimes a mutually-acceptable compromise is impossible, sometimes violence is necessary, but always try for a nonviolent solution.

If you have radical ideas, by all means push for them. But don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and be very reluctant to kill people. Remember that the future is uncertain, and nothing ever works smoothly on a grand scale.

5. When In Doubt, Be Kind

We all make mistakes. But if you’re humble, considerate, and slow to anger, you’ll screw up less and hurt people less when you do.

Don’t be a doormat. But do be kind, even to your enemies. Give the benefit of the doubt, don’t condemn people casually, and don’t indulge in cruelty.

I want to remind us all that art is dangerous. I want to remind you of the history of artists who have been murdered, slaughtered, imprisoned, chopped up, refused entrance. The history of art, whether it’s in music or written or what have you, has always been bloody, because dictators and people in office and people who want to control and deceive know exactly the people who will disturb their plans.

And those people are artists. They’re the ones that sing the truth. And that is something that society has got to protect. But when you enter that field, no matter whether that’s Sonia’s poetry or Ta-Nehisi’s rather startlingly clear prose, it’s a dangerous pursuit. Somebody’s out to get you. You have to know it before you start, and do it under those circumstances, because it is one of the most important things that human beings do.
