debut midnight

DON HUNSTEIN
Miles Davis, 1956
Shortly after signing with Columbia Records, Miles Davis went into Columbia Studio D on October 26, 1955 for the first of three sessions that would comprise “Round About Midnight,” his debut album for the label. Miles worked out much of the album in a pair of sessions on June 5 and September 10, 1956, during which Don Hunstein created this seminal portrait of Miles in full creative mode. The album’s release in March 1957 ushered in a new era in jazz history. - D.H.

Yay milestone achievement!! What has been the most memorable moment for you as a fan of the series since you joined Tumblr?

Hooray indeed - a celebration made all that much sweeter by lovely friends like you!

The most memorable moment for me since I joined tumblr was the sheer celebration following the Season 2 finale. I think I was up until 4 o’clock in the morning (since the episode debuted at midnight) just hysterically squeeing with all of you on tumblr about just how amazing it was. How it was literally everything we’d been waiting for - and more.

To discuss and analyze it in real time with you all was just so much fun. And reminded me of just what a fantastic community we have built here!
