At Sephora, we keep an expertly-manicured finger on the pulse of beauty trends. Right now, we can’t keep our hands off the endlessly inspiring polishes currently decorating our office shelves. The Sephora Glossy caught up with Jennifer Lucchese, Director of Merchandising—Color, and Sydney Feeter, Assistant Buyer—Nails, to get the inside scoop on nail trends everyone will be sporting by summer. BECKY PEDERSON

We’ve named two trends this summer, High Volt and Lo-Fi. What’s the difference?
Jennifer Lucchese: High Volt is like an exotic vacation at your fingertips. It’s inspired by the bold, colorful fabrics we kept seeing on runways. We focused on fluorescents and candy-colored lacquers. Think tropical summer getaways and nights in Ibiza!
Sydney Feeter: Lo-Fi is the perfect contrast. It’s all about warm, sandy beaches and relaxing summer days—lots of washed out nudes and sun-bleached tints. It really captures the feel of an Instagram filter.

How did you pinpoint these looks?
JL: Trend-finding definitely comes from a huge variety of places. We read tons of blogs, watch the runways at Fashion Week, talk to brands, and of course, check out what people are wearing on the street.

Any brands in particular?
SF: Formula X does a great job of not only spotting trends but creating them as well. They always bring us the newest, coolest ideas and products. And Deborah Lippmann is a guru when it comes to the next big thing. She’s always backstage at Fashion Week, awards shows, music videos…she’s a wealth of trendy knowledge!

We already can’t wait for next season! Any clues as to what fall nails will look like?
JL: Well, without giving too much away…be on the lookout for an amazing new collection from Formula X with silky, matte finish metallics!
