First of all happy birthday! You would have been 32 years old today. I would be telling a lie if I said I didn’t listen to your music everyday, because I do. I would also be lying if I said I have gotten over God taking you from this world. I can say I look up to you in more ways than one, listening to your music & watching your movies/videos has taught me so many things & encouraged me to do so many things in life. Without you I wouldn’t have been able to make it through some break-ups, dry some tears, rock out, or just plain smile.I will forever be grateful for the time God allowed you to be on this Earth & bless us with your beautiful music.
I can say you are one of the first people that showed me the REAL meaning of music. No one will ever be able to replace you. As long as I am alive I will be sure that your legacy lives on. You showed me how to Read Between the Lines & how to be a Best Friend & More Than a Woman. You taught me to never give niggas play with that Loose Rap & to make sure they’re Extra Smooth(LOL). You told me Age Ain’t Nothin but a Number & to go with whatever Rocks the Boat. Needless to say, I Care 4 U.
I know time goes on & the world can’t stop because you’re gone, but each time I hit the play button & your voice comes out the speakers it feels like the world is moving just a little bit slower & things get a little bit better. Hopefully one day I can amount to the woman you were. If I even become half of the woman you were that would be fine with me. I will always & forever love you. I genuinely thank-you for the beauty you have left in this world. Many may not understand the place this letter is coming from, or how someone who has never met a person can feel such a strong connection towards them. I can’t explain it & they probably will never know unless it happens to them. You are forever in my heart & I can’t wait to meet you in the after life. Happy Birthday & Continue to rest in paradise.
“The day Aaliyah died. Lauryn Hill sang to me about the end of the world. She cried as she played and told me to listen to the words. My friend turned enemy became my friend again. And I danced with the energy of my dear friend.
