I understand that @dcinternational is a business and businesses need to make money. However, when one of their core marketing strategies is the hashtag “#growdrumcorps” they need to uphold that. All drum corps are good drum corps, regardless of the number they receive. All drum corps teach students valuable life lessons, regardless of the number they receive. All drum corps deserve recognition, regardless of the number they receive.
I am very disappointed in this organization for putting profits above the value of a student’s performance.
The drum corps activity is already on the decline, and telling a huge group of students, instructors, parents, and fans that their efforts all summer aren’t worth taking the time to properly secure licensing isn’t going to help.
