Everyone deserves the chance to march.
Hey guys! If you or someone you know lives in the DFW area in Texas, loves kids, and loves band:
I am currently trying to start a marching program for middle schoolers and high schoolers with learning and behavioral disabilities like autism. I have had difficulty find the support for this at my college, so I decided that I will be starting the program without faculty help. This means I need willing volunteers from high schools and colleges in the area who think they would be interested in helping lead sectionals and such for their instrument. If enough people can help, then I will be able to move forward with this idea and start making it a reality. I also need to know if you know people that would benefit from this program. I’m thinking of having a band with people who didn’t know how to play an instrument before, and then a group that did. So these don’t have to be band students, just students who seem interested in band/marching. You don’t need to name any names, but reblogging, replying, or messaging me with an age and the disorder of someone you think would be interested will help me keep count of how many people we could be helping. Please send me a message with your name, instrument, and a way I can contact you (facebook, email, etc) if you are interested or have any other questions! Help spread the word! :)
