Suzanne Rodgers (Maggie Horton) gives a special introduction to the highlight clip for the 12,000th episode!

Happy 12000 Days!

It takes a village! The whole cast and crew on set.

How many years does it take for a daytime drama - that airs pretty much every single weekday of the year - to get to 12,000 episodes? Well, Days of our Lives premiered on November 8, 1965, and in the forty-seven years since then, we’ve gone through plenty of romance, births, deaths, DiMeras and drama, lots (lots) of drama. The whole cast and crew got together on Friday, September 28, 2012, to celebrate the milestone with FIVE cakes, ice cream and speeches from representatives from NBC, Sony and from Ken Corday himself, whose parents Ted and Betty helped to create the town that we love so much, Salem USA. The 12,000th episode will air on January 11, 2013.
