Roaring Pines is now open on Venable Street

Roaring Pines, Richmond’s newest home goods shop and soda fountain, opened quietly Tuesday at Venable and 21st Street. Proprietor Andrew Dayberry says that the shop will be open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 AM – 6 PM at least initially. Warmer weather could bring extended hours once the patio out back is opened up.

The shop stocks a wide variety of American-made goods such as brooms, balsa airplanes, journals, frisbees, extension cords, dustpans, blankets, Lincoln Logs, soaps, bags, candy, and other fun stuff. Half of the room is given over to a counter with stools and a set of soda fountains. Sodas, cream sodas, drinking vinegars, and cold coffees are available by the glass or custom ½ growler.

I can pretty much guarantee that you’ve never been into a shop like Roaring Pines. The shop is as much a social experience as a retail destination. Roaring Pines is a retail space stocked with American-made goods, and a soda fountain with online sales. It’s earnest and fun.
