I’m not quick to praise highly conceptual photography because I tend to enjoy a more photojournalistic style of work almost always. However. David Talley, a photographer from California, has work that I can’t quickly brush off. His narrative images convey such strong emotion - almost always dealing with darkness, heartbreak, and tragedy. The subjects in the images blend amazingly into the fanciful scenery; be it by creating alluring and delicate drapery that matches the wind or posing his subjects in a way that mimics the rocks. David’s images tell stories akin to “Brother’s Grimm” or Sherri DuPree’s nightmare version of “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”. Deliciously dark.
