It’s that time of year again, when we part ways with many of our familiar dollars and join up with so many amazing comics! Yes, it’s SPX time!
SPX was my very first comic show when I went in 2009. I had such an amazing time I quickly signed up for a bunch of other shows, but this will be my first time back to SPX! I like to think of it as a triumphant return, but that may just be my take on it.
I’ll have all sorts of things for you to gather into your loving arms, from the brand new That One Spooky Night that I illustrated, with words by the talented Dan Bar-el, to an accumulation of great things from the past, both recent (like Wattamelon minis and the Cloudy & Sunny Book-o-Doodles & Things To Do) and not-as-recent (such as Cloudy Collection prints). Plus, I’ve got new stickers, newish buttons and shirts, and as-yet-uncreated doodles-on-the-spot-that-I-will-make-for-you.
And if that is not enough for you, you’ll be at SPX anyway, because.
Love these robots [by David Huyck] I had done for Tristan.
If you need a gift for someone, I highly recommend getting a totally awesome, unique, original, rad, commissioned Robot or Monster. You give them three words to go off of. I chose: dachschund, ribbit-ribbit & innamorati.
I really have the coolest family ever… thanks, Joe Alterio!
Introducing Popo the Hippo! Popo is enthusiastic, but kind of oblivious. He is in danger every step of his journey, but he never once realizes his luck. Y'know, for kids!
This here is a draft of the front cover for the wordless comic I’m making to debut at TCAF this May. It will be a 3-color Riso cover on off-white stock, with 2-color (green and black) Riso interiors. The book will be 8"x5", 32 pages, and pretty silly.
I’ll keep posting sketches and sample pages as I finish things up in the next couple weeks. Keep it comics!
I’ve been working on this new 44-page mini-comic for the better part of the month. It’s been intense. And it’s ready just in time for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF), this weekend. Those of you who’ve been before know the drill—it’s an amazing show. All the info you’d ever want is available on their website. I’ll be there both days (Sat & Sun), sharing table #171 with my bud David Huyck who will have a ton of amazing stuff on hand.
I’ll have all 4 issues of Heeby Jeeby Comix, copies of Brain #1, a handful of GULPS, and a bunch of prints (some new!) including my Bravest Warriors set.
I won’t say too much about ‘reset’, but it’s a sci-fi exploration/creature story. See you in Toronto!
