DeJesus gets surprise from pen

8/27/12: David DeJesus walks in the eighth inning on four pitches but misses the wild pitch from the Cubs bullpen that ends up at the dugout

This is the second of hopefully several more installments of “Baseball With Two Baseballs.” Stay tuned.

Although the Cubs were down 3-0 in the fifth, RBI groundouts by Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro chipped away the Brewers lead to 3-2 through the seventh.

Then in the bottom of the seventh, Anthony Rizzo rips one to right field to tie the game at 3-3. Scott Hairston then gives the Cubs the lead with a bases loaded sac-fly in the eighth with David DeJesus following it up with a two out, two-run single to make the game 6-3.

Travis Wood allows three runs (Two earned), six hits over six and a third, and Carlos Marmol pitched a scoreless (And walk/HBP-less) eighth, with Kyuji Fujikawa earning his second save as the Cubs win their first game at Wrigley this season.

Good work Cubbies. See you tomorrow.

Since we are still in the informal stage of workouts before pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on the 18th, the guys wear what they feel comfortable practicing in. And so today I give you T-Shirt Day at Fitch Park. I’ll leave the fashion evaluations up to you, I think these T-Shirts make their own statements. Jeff Samardzija was sporting the umm, F the Goat T-Shirt which I believe showed up at Wrigley last June with some of the players wearing it during bp.

Also, I want a shirt like Darwin Barney’s.
