ORORO MUNROE aka STORM Art from BLACK PANTHER MWF URBAN JUNGLE & CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BLACK WIDOW by Francesco Francavilla
Ending this BLACK SUPERHEROES HISTORY WEEK with a legendary African Superhero and a very important member of the X-Men: STORM.
Ororo Munroe (also known as STORM) was created in 1975 by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum. Her first appearance was in MARVEL’s Giant Size X-Men #1, published in May of that year. She is the former queen consort of Wakanda, a title once held by marriage to King T'Challa, better known as the Black Panther. Her main abilities (among other) are weather manipulation and flight.
The look of the character has gone through some changes over the decades, from big full hair to mo hawk (see above) even if the peculiar white hair have been a constant int he design.
STORM became even more popular after the series of X-Men movies where she is portrayed by Halle Berry.
And this is it for now, but no worries as I want to come back later to BLACK SUPERHEROES (and not necessarily in February of 2015: most likely sooner than that) and tackle characters like Blade, Brother Voodoo, Black Dynamite, and more.
