Reunion || darknightlegend

Zatanna didnt know what she was doing her. How many invitations to Charity events and other grand Galas had Bruce (Or more likely Alfred) sent her? Dozens? All ignored and assumed to be desired so. The Bat and the Magican hadnt seen each other in years. They had both made their decisions and gone on their own paths.

It wasnt like he trusted her. He made that clear a few times. What had caused her to finally decided to attend the Gala? She peered over the invitation over and over again before deciding. It was the glitter. She loved glitter. Zee chuckled at herself as the limo pulled up to the location. The driver got out and opened the door for her. She slid out of the car, planting her heels on the ground and standing, allowing her shiny black dress to flow freely. A contraption most girls wouldnt dare wear… but Zatanna was… well… she was Zatanna… nothign really worried her.

She walked into the hall, smiling at a few familiar faces as she entered. None of them actually came over for a greeting… but Zatanna expected as much. She made her way over to the bar and got a glass of wine. People were quietly chattering to each other as she felt a presence next to her. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the Bat, all dressed down in the usual tux and even more usual brood. “Hey there, handsome.”

If DC decided to reboot Batman-Talia story arc, which writer should have the priority?

Hm! Difficult question. If we go with writers that are on the scene right now, I would be most optimistic about Peter J. Tomasi or Gail Simone.

Tomasi because he already knows that fans are unhappy with the direction Morrison took Talia, and actively did some damage control with Batman and Robin #0. That was one of the best modern portrayals of Talia in my opinion - she was still unrelenting, but we saw a ton of sentimentality in her - both in how she spoke to Damian and in the act of keeping a cape and cowl in what much be her hope chest. Not to mention that the recent Batman and Robin #18 was not only one of the best comics to come out of the New 52, but one of the most moving and emotionally resonant. And that’s hard when you’re telling a story without words. Tomasi made me like Damian a lot more, which, in turn, made his death more meaningful for me, personally. He built the relationship between Bruce and Damian and it was something very special and very beautiful. I would trust him with handling Talia.

As for Gail Simone…who wouldn’t trust Gail Simone handling a strong female character? Though Talia only played a minor part where Gail has written her (Villains United), her moments were pretty perfect. Especially when beating Dr. Light with a coffee pot. I think every woman in the DCU wanted to do that at some point or another, but Talia got to and it was great. Gail has a real skill for bringing underdeveloped or overlooked characters into their own - I think Secret Six, for example, was a masterpiece. She’s a master at dialogue, and revealing character through dialogue.

I would love to see her write Talia again.

Zatanna and Bruce

Doing Twins for Reasons….

  • Name: Adella Martha and Anthony John Wayne
  • Gender: Female and Male
  • General Appearance: The twins have identical coloration. Black hair and piercing blue eyes. Adella looks a lot like Zatanna, but with a much more defined nose and Anthony is his fathers twin, but not as tall as him.
  • Personality: The twins act more like Zatanna. Being more playful than their father. Adella is easier to calm down and takes things more seriously than her brother where as Anthony is more into the fun side of things. He reminds Zatanna of her cousin Zach. The twins both love fighting crime with their parents… which scares the living crap out of Zee, being a protective mother.
  • Special Talents: Both of the twins inherited Zee’s magical abilities. Adella utilizes them more than her brother, who is more into the non-magical side of crime fighting.
  • Who they like better: Adella likes Zatanna and Anthony like Bruce… but if you asked them, they would simultaneously say ‘Alfred’.
  • Who they take after more: They both take after different parts of their parents.
  • Personal Head canon: Zee and Bruce originally weren’t going to tell the Twins about their fathers roles as Batman to protect them… but one rainy day, they 7 year olds were playing around the Manor and wandered into the Batcave. It was all open from then on.
  • Face Claim:

Antony: Asa Butterfield

Adella: Raffey Cassidy
