I'm sorry, but I don't understand how English doesn't have a gender neutral word for your partner, ya know? Like, in Danish instead of saying boyfriend and girlfriend, we always say "kæreste" which means "precious/dearest" basically. It's 100% gender neutral. Whether you're dating the same or opposite gender, you still have a "kæreste". English should adopt that word, imo.

it’s not just english actually! there’s been numerous petitions online for languages that gender words in their mother tongue to add a gender neutral term for pronouns alone and so forth. i will admit the english language is very confusing as is, and i think it would be a beneficial for the english language to add something such as ‘date mate’.

either way, we should keep pushing for terms like you have in danish!
