Slow dancing with H in your room, your head on his chest, while he sings/hums in your ear.

Oh my GOD like maybe you’re just sitting on your bed hanging out and listening to music. And maybe Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis comes on and you say, “Oh my god I love this song!”

And that gives Harry an idea.

He stands up and holds his hand out for you to take. You eye it, and then look at him. He just grins. “C’mon then.”

You take his hand slowly and he pulls you to your feet. He instantly pulls you close so that your head is against your chest, and he begins swaying.

You relax against him with a smile. “I love this song, too,” he says softly. You can feel his chest vibrate with his words.

It’s quiet for a bit longer while you just sway and turn, and it’s so intimate that you could cry. You’re about to tell him you love him, when he starts singing, low and slow, with his lips pressed into your hair.

And then you can’t help it. Your eyes are welling with tears and you pull him even closer, giving him a squeeze. He kisses your head mid verse before continuing to sing along all the way to the end of the song.

Things to do instead of thinking about that gross boy:

-Take a bath. With candles and a book and a face mask

-Look for a new show on Netflix

-Watch videos of happy babies (or happy puppies. or kittens)

-Paint your nails

-Do that thing you’ve been procrastinating for hours

-Reorganize your room

-Find new music, make a new playlist

-Pet your cat or dog. Or your friend’s cat or dog. Or your neighbor’s cat or dog

-DIY a hair mask or a sugar scrub (I can write up some recipes if anybody wants them!!)

-Call your mom

-Sing and dance around your room to some Rihanna (or another singer that makes you feel like a boss ass bitch)

-Do some yoga

Gryffindor- holding rocks from the beach in yours hands, watching them flow out, being at the playground at midnight with your best friends, completing dares that no one even dared you to do, running just for the purpose of doing something, sending your best friend appreciation paragraphs for them at 3:00 A.M., going on roller coasters very confident but freaking out a little when you get to the top, playing ghosts in the graveyard with you or friends at 11:00 A.M., putting on makeup and dressing up even though you have nowhere to go, dancing and lip syncing in your room crazily, finding wonders in the little things, spacing out, diving in right away in the lake, handing out feminism badges, walking at a regular pace in the rain with your arms out, forming new clubs, being overly-excited, making small designs on the misty car window, either taking 0 selfies or 1938284 at a time, red lipstick and black mascara, scraped up legs

Hufflepuff- sugar highs, putting so much trust in your friends, dressing up as your favorite book and tv show characters, growing out your hair, blueberry pancakes when you wake up, whether that’s at 6:00 A.M. or 12:00 P.M., catching fireflies, the feeling you get when you make all your friends fall over laughing, seeing a spiny chair and immediately know what you will be doing for the rest of the day, ice cream bigger than your head, putting flowers in your friend’s hair, being the last to finish your popsicle, getting excited when you hear the ice cream truck, heart-shaped sunglasses, petting every puppy you see on the street, making a big deal out of everything, getting your friends presents even though there is no special occasion, candy shops, slumber parties, writing songs, writing stories, musicals and Broadway plays, caring about others more than you care about yourself, strip malls, taking pictures of your friends, happy drunk, defending the underdog, finding beauty in everyone’s eyes

Ravenclaw- record shops, when your face gets red after you get complimented, chokers, laughing when your nervous, cuddling with your friends at 2:00 A.M., drinking coffee in the morning, going to the beach when the waves are crazy, telling yourself to only read one more chapter but you end up finishing the book, writing letters to the author, scented candles, knee high socks, taking videos so you can remember the moment, perfect makeup techniques, laying on the rooftop at 3:00 A.M., looking at the stars, making multiple playlists for different moods, watching documentaries, playing mindlessly with your friend’s hair, eating a three course meal at 12:00 A.M., pranking your friends when they’re sleeping, putting your headphones on long car rides, binge watching Netflix, spending your day at the library, asking your friend to go to the bathroom with you, getting a churro at the fair, studying because you want to, not because anyone else wants you to

How do you fall back in love with life?

  1. clean your room.  clean space, uncluttered space, space that doesn’t have miasma clinging to it can work wonders.  clean the dishes.  sweep.  take out the trash.  peel the clothes off the floor and wash them, and then actually fold/hang them.  take a long shower.  scrub behind your knees.  brush your teeth.  (this can be utterly exhausting, but try to get it done in a day, if you can.  the end result is worth it.)
  2. pull out your notebook.  it doesn’t need to be a new notebook, but preferably one that you don’t usually write in, or that you haven’t touched in a while.  fuck moleskins.  the yellow legal pad will work fine.  sit in your room, or in the park, or in the library, and write a list.  count clouds.  describe all the colors that you see, and note patterns that arise.  sketch the cracks in the walls.  note the shape light makes when it enters a space.  talk about what the air tastes like, smells like.  what sounds are there?  even the white nose, break that down: air planes, fans, cicadas, anything.  remind yourself that you are sitting in the middle of a space brimming with detail.  remind yourself that you are not in nothingness and emptiness.  your world is fathomless.  it has potential.
  3. drink cold water and try to eat something that isn’t processed.  it does not need to be fancy.  buy yourself an apple with the change between your couch cushions.  eat it outside.  if you’re someone who walks, walk somewhere afterwards, just to stretch your legs.  take your fucking meds.  remember that its a good thing that you are inside your body.  your body is a fantastic and endlessly intricate machine, and even though society has smacked a bunch of poisonous ideas on it, that doesn’t change its inherent worth and splendor.  take care of it.
  4. read a novel.  underline your favorite lines, and write phrases that twist your heart inside your chest on the back of your hand with an ink pen.  read a novel like it’s poetry.  read poetry, something decadent but unpretentious.  watch a movie you haven’t seen before.  if there are free art galleries near you, walk through one.  take your time.  let yourself bask.  if there are patterns in what makes your soul ache, write those patterns down – marbles arches or soot crumbling bricks or dandelions or descriptions of dresses or whatever it is, write them down.
  5. your chosen family is important.  remember, they picked you as much as you picked them.  the love has no obligation.  it is given freely and it is given from a place of compassion.  you are not a burden.  if you need to breathe, take a minute by yourself and just exist, but remember to go back to your people.  when they need you, listen and be gracious.  always be gracious.  the universe sometimes remembers things like that.
  6. listen to new music.  link jump on youtube or related artist jump on spotify or ask the chap beside you in the cafe what their favorite band is, and listen to that.  listen to something that you don’t usually listen to.  we tend to tie up a lot of memory with music.  we are falling in love again.  the soundtrack needs to be specific to that.
  7. allow yourself to indulge in romantics.  press flowers in old books.  play movies with subtitles and mouth the words.  dance in your room.  wear something that makes you feel good, even if you wouldn’t wear it in public.  write your chosen family letters, even if you hand deliver them.  write poetry, even awful poetry.  revel in its awfulness.  eat dark chocolate and when your chosen family want to go out, try to go out with them sometimes, even if its just to the market.
Aesthetics for the Houses

Gryffindor: Sucking on sugar cubes, giggling behind your hand, long car rides with friends, opening windows to let in fresh air, running barefoot through grass, burning your tongue on food that was too hot, the view from tall buildings, the sun warming your skin, doorbells, summer camp, fierce eyeliner and bold lipstick, deep v-necks accessorized with a flirty smile, rough hands and soft hearts, brightly colored cocktails, laughing too hard at a dumb joke, crumpling up paper and throwing it into a trashcan across the room, card games, letting your hair down, opening doors, and skinny dipping.

Ravenclaw: Waking up late on a rainy day, warm coffee on a cold morning, scrunched eyebrows, color-coding everything, bags under your eyes, passing notes to your friends, long fingernails, jumping in puddles, charm bracelets, comfortable silences, orchestras, velvet ribbons, french braids, dark eyelashes, chewing ice cubes, train rides, staring out the window, curling up with a pet, being alone in the forest, the smell of the earth after it rains, staying up late to watch the stars, rearranging your room, biting your tongue, painting your toes different shades, cold glasses, chokers, watching a play, musical compositions, roman numerals, doodling on your hand, and mirrors.

Hufflepuff: Skirts that flow behind you, eyes that sparkle in the light, tea, picking flowers for your mom, laughing so hard you can’t catch your breath, denim shorts and crop tops, forts made out of sheets, pixie cuts, scrunching up your nose, rosy cheeks, freckles across your nose, bohemian tapestries on walls, dancing around the room with friends, apartments with brick walls in the city, sleeping by huge windows, drinking alcohol on rooftops, shirts rolled to the elbows, cute buns, birds sitting on telephone wires, fogged up glass, strumming a guitar, smiling so much that your cheekbones ache, climbing tall trees, contagious laughter, Polaroid pictures, and mosaics with colored glass.

Slytherin: Raising one eyebrow, martinis, marble statues, soft fur blankets on leather couches, tapping your fingernails against a hard surface, perfectly winged eyeliner, sly smirks, champagne flutes, pencil skirts, footprints in fresh snow, tree houses, wandering around the city at night, quotes that describe you perfectly, black and white photography, french perfume, black silk, lingerie, combing wet hair, proving people wrong, shopping with your best friends, mint leaves, keeping a diary, silver rings, staying up all night, black coffee, hand mirrors, little black dresses, pine trees, vanilla scented candles, mascara, stone walls, leather jackets and red lipstick, wine corks, and photo albums.

the nerdy guide to fitness

It’s definitely going to suck at first, but you will accidentally have fun, I promise. Okay folks, this whole sedentary lifestyle thing isn’t working anymore. It’s definitely going to suck at first, but you will accidentally have fun, I promise. Get moving!

  • Exercise is anything that elevates your heart rate or takes your body outside of its normal comfort zone- you don’t have to go to a gym to do either one
  • Don’t use exercise as an excuse to eat junk! Bad food decisions don’t cancel out.
  • Yoga/stretching is the easiest way to get your blood flowing with minimal effort
  • Running or biking is a close second
  • Consistency is way more important than cramming in 3 miles in one day
  • if you’re doing cardio, follow up with a cool down stretch or light jog. Take care of yourself!!
  • Exercise after your school/workday is over (instead of taking a nap). You’ll have more energy to tackle homework, and you’ll get a better night’s sleep.
  • Make a playlist filled with super bright and obnoxious songs. Works every time.
  • If you use the Pomodoro method to study, try to fit yoga/stretching into the breaks.
  • If “regular” exersize isn’t your thing:
  • Take 5-10 minutes to dance enthusiastically in your room, that’s so much better than nothing.
  • Get creative with your friends. Instead of meeting for coffee, go on a hike, frisbee in the park, etc.
  • Small things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator do add up.
  • If you drive, park a little farther away.
  • Keep track of your steps. My phone’s health app has a pedometer but they’re really cheap on amazon- please don’t splurge on a Fitbit.

xoxo, Niya

how to prepare for an elegant party in midsummer: shut down your morning alarm, let the rays of sun wake you, to start the day with a honey-like feeling. Wear your favourite nightdress all day, and stay inside to avoid the heat. Have a brunch with your favourite fruits and read a book that puts you in the mood of dancing. When the sun slowly starts to fade after midday, start dedicating yourself to your skincare routine. Take a long bath, and enjoy the feeling of water on your skin until the light from the window starts becoming softer. Dance in your living room to a quiet music, from your favourite vinyl. Let yourself taste the laziness of summer afternoons, don’t hurry, drink a lot of water and eat light foods. When the sky becomes pink behind the curtains, open your closet and look at your favourite dresses. Who do you want to be when the moon comes up?

HARRY STYLES - “TWO GHOSTS” LYRICS

Written by: Harry Styles, Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, Mitch Rowland, Tyler Johnson

Same lips red, same eyes blue
Same white shirt, couple more tattoos
But it’s not you, and it’s not me
Tastes so sweet, looks so real
Sounds like something that I used to feel
But I can’t touch what I see

We’re not who we used to be
We’re not who we used to be
We’re just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

The fridge light washes this room white
Moon dances over your good side
And this was all we used to need
Tongue-tied like we’ve never known
Telling those stories we already told
‘Cause we don’t say what we really mean

We’re not who we used to be
We’re not who we used to be
We’re just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
We’re not who we used to be
We’re not who we used to be
We’re just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

We’re not who we used to be
We’re not who we used to be
We’re just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
We’re not who we used to be
We don’t see what we used to see
We’re just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat
I’m just trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

  • get a new hobby!! do you draw? paint? write? whatever you do – start doing it. use that time which you spend on the internet in exploring your passions and finding your interests.
  • seriously though, do that work first.

- some (fun) stuff to do in summer -

  • clean your closet (do it mate)
  • compliment people more
  • smile at strangers often
  • vlog your days. maybe start a YouTube channel for this?

  • keep a gratitude journal
  • go a week without any social media (this will be hard, but try it!!)
  • go hiking or cycling with a friend
  • read 7-8 books or as many books as you please
  • have a do nothing day - treat yourself love!
  • learn a new kind of dance - this is really fun, i promise
  • go a whole day with any technology
  • do a 30 day challenge!!
  • seek out an interesting article to read everyday
  • go camping in the hills

The signs as different sapphics
  • Aries: Space sapphic. Finding galxies in her eyes. Traveling at the speed of light, through a million galxies just to see her smile. Giving her a piece of the moon to keep in her bedside table. She thinks of you everytime the stars come out.
  • Taurus: Garden sapphic. Leaving freshcut flowers on her doorstep every summer. Planting flowers with her every spring. You weed your garden together, and your fingertips graze each other's.
  • Gemini: Moon sapphic. Staying up late with her. Connecting the freckles on her skin to make constellations. The moonlight streams in from her window, and you can't tear your eyes away from her sleeping face.
  • Cancer: Ocean sapphic. Tasting the salt on her skin. Skinny dipping by the light of the moon. Giving her rocks that you find on the ocean floor. Splashing her and melting when she giggles.
  • Leo: Summer sapphic. Laying in the front yard with her, tanning. Walking down to the ice cream parlor and feeding her a sundae. Watching storms roll over the horizon with her.
  • Virgo: Cafe sapphic. Waiting for her with her favorite drink ready. Studying together and rewarding each other's hard work with a kiss. Surprising her at work with a cup of coffee when she can't make a coffee date.
  • Libra: Artsy sapphic. Painting a portrait of her. Going on museum dates and thinking she's the most valuable piece of art anywhere you go. Asking her to pose nude for you, and you try not to blush too much or look for too long. Reenacting that scene from Ghost with the pottery wheel.
  • Scorpio: Vintage sapphic. Only touching in private. Everyone thinks you're just friends, but you two know better. Putting on her favorite record and slow dancing in your living room.
  • Sagittarius: Sun sapphic. Lazy mornings with her. Riding bikes and laughing too loud. Rubbing aloe and kissing her sunburn. Kissing all of her freckles.
  • Capricorn: Forest sapphic. Climbing a tree and leaning down across a branch to kiss her. Walking through the woods and protecting her from the spiders or bugs. Collecting different leaves and telling her all about the trees.
  • Aquarius: Winter sapphic. Cuddling with her on a winter night, underneath a quilt. Making her hot chocolate and kissing her cold forehead. Frolicking around in the first snowfall.
  • Pisces: Bookstore sapphic. Your eyes meet in between the bookshelves. You read her excerpts from your favorite book. You leave handwritten poems in her favorite books, she finds them every time. Sharing a kiss by the romance section.

the album red by taylor swift (2012) is the most beautiful piece of art that has ever been produced. it’s the perfect fall album to sit and listen to while you’re sipping on apple cider and reading your favorite book. it has bops, beats, and ballads. you wanna dance around in your room? you have we are never ever getting back together, 22, i knew you were trouble. you wanna listen to heartbreaking ballads? you have the last time, sad beautiful tragic, all too well, i almost do. you wanna listen to songs that are happy? you can listen to starlight, holy ground, stay stay stay, everything has changed. you wanna listen to songs with lyrics that make your heart burst? you can listen to begin again, state of grace, treacherous, the lucky one, red. not to mention that the deluxe edition is also beautiful as well. i don’t care if it wasn’t “sonically cohesive” because it has everything an album needs and i still think it deserved album of the year!!!!!!

I am immensely thankful for the talented people who have created art / edits for this story: x, x, x, x, x, x ♡ also, make sure to read moonlight (drabble from jimin’s pov) and home after rain (short sequel) after reading this story. enjoy!

You were eighteen years old when Jimin’s name showed up on your hand.

The day is fresh and clear in your memory: early December, the winds stronger than ever as they threatened to pierce through the windows of your room, hints of snowflake dancing in the air as the first snowfall augured an even sharper winter. There was a smile on your face that didn’t match the unrelenting coldness of the month, and even though the night was falling and the air felt icy on the tips of your fingers, there was only warmth in your chest as you went through the pictures of your phone.

Pictures of you and Jimin drinking hot chocolate, of clumsy iceskating, of funny faces that made you laugh out loud in the quietness of your bedroom. The feeling sparking in your chest could be considered somewhat dangerous— after all, you were just a girl that didn’t have any marks on her skin, a girl whose fate was yet to be decided. Something as enigmatic as love could be a treacherous thing, too risky for someone that couldn’t decide their destiny on their own.
