uh, okay, so la la land was fine. i wasn’t blown away by anything, i enjoyed parts of it, but i kept checking how long was left because some of it got a bit tedious. the ending was cliche and the songs were ok but one thing bugged me the most
why did that film win best cinematography
like, i want every person in the academy who voted for it to write me a paragraph-long explanation. because yes, there were some beautiful shots in that film, but it wasn’t anything… new. it wasn’t innovative.
moonlight and arrival are hands down two of the most beautiful films i’ve ever seen. both of them have texture. the cinematography in both is groundbreaking, and stunning to the point where you often forget to breathe.
la la land had… a pretty sunset? some star dancing? shots of an observatory? i don’t… ???????
