THERE IS ACTUALLY AN EASY WAY TO STOP ALISTAIR FROM RUNNING THROUGH EVERY TRAP IN THE AREA.
All you have to do is go to his Tactics screen, and switch his behavior setting from “Default” to “Defensive”. If you do this, he will (unless holding position or being controlled directly by the player) generally stay close to the player (instead of running through all of the traps), and he also won’t just stand around if he’s in a harmful AOE—he’ll get the hell out of there. Defensive is less aggressive than Default, but still equally effective in combat—and much less likely to set off every trap on the map before you can disarm them with Leliana/Zevran/Rogue!Warden. It’s easy enough to put him back on Default or even Aggressive behavior when you’re in an area with no traps (like the final battle with the Archdemon) but there you have it. A quick and easy way to make the wolf traps back into wolf traps instead of, ya know…Alistair traps.
Part 1 of the Tev/Dren hot springs episode. Y’know, the good kind of hot springs episode, where it’s fun but then also there’s some character development.
I was actually gonna have this scenario go a different direction, but…it was so boring. That’s actually why there are so many backgrounds, ‘cuz I wanted to at least challenge myself on the art if the script was boring. But I changed it (…and then kept the backgrounds anyway)! I think this is better, and it speeds us on toward The Fluff™. Win-win.
