been watching you
For some time
Can’t stop staring at those ocean eyes
Infatuation was synonymous with stupidity for you, a girl who didn’t
believe in the magic of fairy tales. Fate did not drive people to love, it
drove them to greatness; a conduit for the ambitious to make sense of the
talents guarded by self-doubt and reservation. You liked to think that no
matter what happened, a higher power would be looking after you, centring you
to the right course, sending winds to fill your sails along the correct path. If
they were Gods, angelic creatures, or a simple act of nature, they did not
bother themselves with the entangling of hearts. Love wasn’t as important as
true purpose, and your purpose was to be great. You had set your sights high,
expectations low. After all, the Gods were anything but fair.
You had excepted this understanding of the world, of what would
come and how it was influenced. And then he had to come along, untangling every
red string, unravelling the complex map until it was just a heap of yarn. He
enticed you, enveloping your thoughts no matter how hard you tried to shut him
out. Even in sleep, when darkness would encapsulate your mind, the oceans would
burst through with ferocity, demanding to be felt, forcing you under the waves.
You were drowning, and falling at the same time. A nightmare disguised as a
You were the shadows, the eyes lurking from the back of the room.
The steady thrum of an evening storm, the eventual fade of an echo. He had
pulled you into the harsh light, holding your hands so you couldn’t cover your
eyes. He had turned your thunder into lightning, your echo into a scream. And
he had tugged you under, forcing you to paddle upwards, terrified and choking
for air. Then once you’d break the surface, another wave would throw you back
into the depths. He made you feel unpredictable and irrational, made you
question everything you thought you were.
But the ocean could be calm too. For every wild storm, there were
still days. Days where he’d send you a smile, or call your name softly,
beckoning you to join him in the shallow, innocent waters.
That’s how he managed to always catch you in a riptide.
In retrospect, you may have overreacted. But then when have feelings ever made a person act rationally?
It all started last week when you and Rafael attended one of his fancy functions. It was a gala hosted by the bar association, yet another opportunity for Rafael to network and advance his career. Rafael always asked you to join him, and you tried your best to at least make an appearance because you knew it would help him.
For the most part, you didn’t mind standing at his side as he schmoozed his way around the room, but on this day, he didn’t seem to need your presence, having found several Harvard colleagues, he had drifted away.
Thus, you found myself standing in a corner of the room talking to the esteemed Mrs. Sophia Edwards, a woman that could really only be described as a trophy wife. You were only half listening to Mrs. Edwards’ brainless banter, as in a spate of self-pity, you were imagining your future as a senseless spouse.
You had spent another day busy, running back and forth up the corridors as you tried to balance the duties of home and kingdom. As a subject of Erebor,
you were bound to contribute, spending many an afternoon sewing tapestries,
shirts, overcoats, and even socks for the dwarves busy in the forge. Dis sat
as the head of the dwarrowdams and gossiped loudly with her closest ears as you
found peace in the simple stitching.
I vaguely remember the amazing nap I had during the lectures we had over hydroelectric dams in class, so for Part A of the last FRQ I literally wrote the joke, “What does a fish say when it runs into a concrete wall? Dam.”
Ladies and gentlemen, enemies of the sun this is the long promised Sky post y'all have been waiting for I’m sorry I can’t use images since my laptop won’t work and I have to do this on mobile and now without further redo let’s start
WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS WINX CLUB SPOILERS
We are actually introduced to him as Brandon because of an unnecessary role switch. I don’t even know why they thought this was a good idea since anyone who would’ve wanted to harm Sky and did proper research would know immediately who the real Sky is. That’s not that much of a problem however starting to “date” someone while still being engaged is. He wouldn’t even have to out himself as prince who just would’ve had to tell Bloom: Sorry I have a fiancée or to break things up with Diaspro. TBH this whole love triangle that has been going on since then is his fault he shouldn’t have just started “dating” Boom. And then everyone starts acting like everything is Diaspro’s fault tbh it was neither Bloom’s or hers it was Sky’s. And then he tried to solve things with Bloom not his actual fiancée no the girl he cheated on her with I doubt he even talked to Diaspro what even should he say: Ehm sorry I cheated on but I didn’t bother to break up with you before I started seeing someone else? Other than that he is pretty tolerable this season.
OH BOI that’s where the major drama begins. He starts out just fine but the second Avalon gets introduced “sigh” I still can’t believe to this day that he thought it was a good idea to spy on his girlfriend in a party where he is not invited with the excuse of making sure she’s okay (or what was it were we even given an excuse?) anyways and then he sees her talking to HER FREAKIN TEACHER and he gets jealous immediately. Like dude you were spying on your girlfriend and saw her talking to her teacher WHILE THEY WERE AT SCHOOL it’s not like they were together in the city or something no they were RIGHT THERE at school and the party was FOR THAT EXACT TEACHER and your first thought is that she might like him then idk if it’s her problem or yours TBH . Then that teacher promises her to help her find out about her past and you should be excited for her but no you’re being a jealous asshole. And then at red fountain he “dies” and then gets resurrected with Bloom’s healing powers but still believes that she likes the teacher more and who would blame her it seems like the teacher treats her better than her actual boyfriend does. And then he still manages to help her get healed from Darkar spell like Bloom if I was you I would’ve blown him away because honestly speaking Bloom deserves better.
Oh beloved season 3 in this season he’s kinda okay I guess except the part they had an off-scream fight in and we never knew what happened there and the part where he is under Valtor’s curse and tries to get rid of everyone and idk if he apologized for that it’s actually not that much his fault except it’s pretty stupid to trust Diaspro at that point. I don’t recall anything else if you do you can add it.
Now this season is weird because other than a few things I didn’t seem to have much impact on anything. Anyways this season was incredibly frustrating to watch from the romance perspective (well relatively anyways) because we had various love triangles that were what the children call incredibly stupid and cringeworthy. Like It didn’t really have to be and it didn’t add to anything in the season except maybe that one filler episode with Mitzy. And what role does Sky play in all of this? As always the jealous asshole. (I know it was not only him but still) dude just because some dudes were helping your girlfriend with painting the god dam walls while you weren’t there doesn’t mean they’re cheating and you have to behave like jealous children when someone plays with their fave toy on the playground. Like dude Andy and Bloom are childhood best friends of course they’re close like what even do you expect and instead of talking you just walk away like what is? What are we? You have a mouth and y'all can talk instead of this stupid miscommunication. Also think about from who the “Anonymous” message was because if you consider it i don’t thing “girl that hates bloom since they were children and wants to date Brandon although she knows he has a gf” isn’t exactly what you would call a reliable source. Then he is normal I guess for the rest of the season. Ah I wish he would fall of somewhere I just hate him.
Be careful what you wish for because yes he fell but he DIDN’T FREAKIN DIE. No he lost his memory and didn’t want it back because…? Like dude I get it you lost the jewelry but that doesn’t mean that you and Bloom will never live happily ever after like come on how superstitious are you to think that the only reason you and your gf won’t have a happy life because of that piece of jewelry you won’t have a a good life with Bloom because you have hundreds of other problems in your god dam relationship. (Note: this is the part in season 5 where I gave up the first time I was watching it) And how could it not be Diaspro decides to show us again how much they wasted her potential. You’d think after season 3 she would be banned never to return to Eraklyon but noooooo how can king Erenidiot ever make a good and smart decision in his life he even appoints her as Sky’s royal advisor or something like that. Yes you read it right folks she got a position of power. What happened next will shock y'all. She became a controlling bitch who would even control his phone calls (and Bloom totally falls for it but that’s a story for another day) and then they have this meeting where they discuss if they should do something against Tritanus where he at first doesn’t even wanna join forces and suddenly when it still happens he decides he’s the perfect person to lead it
(Ah yes forgot to mention that he gets his memory back somewhere before Diaspro became his royal babysitter because Flora found the piece of Jewelry in Domino idk how it got there)
And the season ends there this was one of the more frustrating seasons too.
I wouldn’t say there was much Bloom x Sky drama here except where the part where Diaspro tried to kill Bloom but I think we’re used to that by now like we’re used to wake up every morning: incredibly annoying and hard to go through. Surprisingly enough that’s not the part where he angers me the most no he annoyed me because he has the mentality of some people on this website to hold something a person did while they were 10 against them for the rest of their lives. Like if I was 10 and playing in the forest and some random dudes attached me I would run away too and nobody would judge me since that’s and instinct and TBH the only logical thing to do unless you’re some anime protagonist. And I wouldn’t hold a grudge against someone who did it like come on Sky you could’ve ran for it too and it’s sadly not like any harm happens to you since you’re alive and well unfortunately.
If I’m being completely honest with y'all I’m still in denial this season ever happened and you know what else I can’t believe ? The fact that this season featured a Bloom x Sky “love triangle” where the third person was a talking unicorn ( I know it’s one episode but still) Come on dude if after all these years of being together you still have to fight for Bloom’s heart WITH A UNICORN then dude something is seriously wrong and it’s not Blooms fault. I’m not talking about this particular incident more or else I will go on a long long rant.
Conclusion (I guess):
In general you can say I don’t really like Sky and think he’s one of the worst character'a ever to exist in the Winx universe and who can blame me? Also if you go ahead and call Bloom a Mary Sue I except you to call out Sky too who apparently is the best in his class even while losing his memory. And I think it’s safe to say that Bloom and Sky are one of the worst couples in this show.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I didn’t include the movies since it’s been a while since I watched them
Here you have it folks the long Sky post y'all been waiting for thank you for sticking around to the end I tried to keep it brief and I’m curious to here your thoughts on the matter
If you want to request just send me a message, I really like writing these. My prompts list is on my blog:)
15. “If you touch her I will end you” & 16. “You’re going to be fine. I promise.”
“We need to get them out of there,” you said looking across the table at Abby, “They’re our friends Abby. Clarke and I barely escaped, how the hell do you think 46 are going to get out undetected?”
Abby pursed her lips and glanced between you, Bellamy, and Clarke, “I want to get them out as well y/n, but we can’t risk losing more men.”
“Then send us in,” you offered, looking up at her with pleading eyes, “We’ve been living down here longer than any of you, we know the terrain-”
“No,” she said sternly, “You guys will not be leaving here. I don’t care how long you’ve been here, you aren’t going out.”
You went to reply but Bellamy squeezed your hand, silently telling you to let it go for now. You sighed but gave a curt nod to show that you understood. Abby gave you a tight lipped smile before turning to leave, Major Byrne right behind her.
You turned to Bellamy once you were sure they were far enough away. “We can’t just leave them Bell, I need to get Harper out.”
Bellamy gave you a soft smile at the mention of your best friend. “We’ll get them out y/n, I promise.” He looked over at Clarke who nodded. You glanced between the two, only just now realising they had a plan the whole time.
“How far is it?” Bellamy whispered to you as you pushed through the low-lying bushes.
You and Bellamy had gone out on a scouting mission to see whether there was a way into the mountain from where you and Clarke had come out. Clarke had offered to come but you shot her down, saying that you needed her there to cover for them.
“It should be right-” you paused pushing the last of the bushes away to reveal the flowing dam wall, “here,” you finished.
Bellamy stared at the wall for a minute, then turning his head to look at you, “You jumped? From up there?”
You nodded and sent him a weary smile, “It’s a lot higher than it looks,” you joked, making him laugh.
You followed him down to the edge of the water, both of you looking up at the entrance that you’d jumped from.
“How the hell do we get back up there?” You asked before a low voice from behind you answered your question.
Both of you spun around quickly, only to feel a sharp sting in your shoulder. You pulled it out and looked around, the ground seemingly swaying beneath your feet. The last thing you heard was Bellamy’s voice calling your name before everything went black.
You stirred slightly, feeling the bright lights burning from behind your eyelids. You groaned and peeked them open before turning your head to the side. Your eyes widened at the sight of Bellamy being cuffed to wall.
“Bell?” You whispered, your throat hoarse for the lack of speaking.
“Y/n,” he said relieved, looking up from his spot on the ground.
“Where are we?” You asked, your voice growing slightly louder as you tried to sit up, only to realise you had leather straps holding you to the table. “What the?” You jiggled them but they held tight, simply making a loud rattling noise in response to your struggles.
You paused your fidgeting at the sound of footsteps coming from outside. You glance at Bellamy who tried his best to look calm, but you could see exactly how scared he was.
The door of the room opened, a young man entering, cleaning off his suit jacket.
“Oh good, you’re awake,” he said, his eyes focusing on you, “I was worried you wouldn’t wake up.”
You glared at the young man before he made his way over to you. “I’m Cage by the way,” he added, “Though I doubt you’ll be around long enough for you to use it.” He stopped at the side of the table, looking down at you, “It’s such a shame, such a pretty girl going to waste,” he said, running his hand down the side of your face. The action caused you to flinch away and Bellamy to rattle the cuffs, trying to get free.
“Oh,” Cage said turning to face Bellamy, “Boyfriend?”
When Bellamy didn’t reply, Cage placed a hand on your thigh. Bellamy growled and Cage smirked triumphantly. “If you touch her I will end you,” Bellamy spat angrily, his eyes shooting daggers at Cage.
“I don’t believe you’re in the position to make any threats.”
Cage’s smirk only grew when Bellamy didn’t say anything back. A loud knock on the door took the attention off you for a moment. Cage removed his hand from your thigh and moved to the door, opening it to reveal Dr Tsing, whom you had met while in Mount Weather Medical. She pushed a small trolley inside with her and you strained your neck to see what was on it.
“Hello y/n.” Dr Tsing started picking up pieces of equipment an checking them over, “I assume this is the boyfriend. What was his name? Oh, Bellamy.”
Bellamy didn’t say anything, his eyes locked on the silver trolley carrying what appeared to be a drill of sorts. “Bone marrow,” Cage informed Bellamy. “If we extract the bone marrow and transfuse it with our blood, we can go outside.”
Bellamy’s eyes widened as Dr Tsing picked up the drill and clicked the button, a whirring sound emitting. “No,” you said, trying to move away from it. “No, please. No!” You screamed as the edge of the drill met the skin of your hip bone, the end piercing through your skin and reaching the bone in a matter of seconds.
Bellamy yanked at the cuffs, trying to get to you but they didn’t budge. Your screams filled the small underground room and you felt lighted headed. You felt a tear slide down your face before everything went black.
“Stop!” Bellamy yelled at Cage, making him turn around. “Take me instead.”
Cage glanced over at your unmoving body and then back to Bellamy, seeing the unshed tears in his eyes.
“Dr Tsing,” Cage called making the doctor cease her drilling. “Go and get the metal restraints, we’ll drill him.” She nodded and left the room, the clicking of her heels against the concrete corridor signalling she was getting further away.
“Wow,” Cage started stepping towards Bellamy, “You must really care for this girl to give yourself up in her place.” Bellamy didn’t give the man the satisfaction of hearing him say anything. “Oh,” Cage laughed, “This is good. You love her.”
Bellamy looked up at Cage who went to open his mouth again but the crackle of the radio attached to his belt made him pause. “Cage, your father wants to see you.”
Cage sighed before giving the two of you one last glance and leaving the room.
“Y/n,” Bellamy called to your unconscious body. “Y/n!” He tried again, this time letting out a relieved sigh when you stirred.
You groaned at the surge of pain coming from your hip.
“Hey, hey, look at me,” Bellamy called, fiddling with something in his hands, “You’re going to fine. I promise.”
You finally got a look at what he was doing and saw he was prying the lock of his cuffs with a thin piece of wire. You watched in silence as he worked the lock, relived when they came undone. He pulled his hands out of them and raced over to you. Undoing the leather straps and picking you up, he placed a gentle kiss to your forehead, “Let’s get out of here.”
Don’t be fooled by her calm nature,
Her easy wave like moods quietly rising and falling on the shore.
Her sky blue eyes always bright and sunny.
She hides everything on the inside, drowns them in the deepest parts of her heart.
She builds a hurricane deep in her soul,
Controls a giant tsunami in her mind.
But people can only take so much,
And no one can control the destruction of a hurricane,
Or keep a tsunami from destroying the shore.
So she eventually breaks, the walls and dams she built come falling down and her storm raging out.
So don’t be surprised when she breaks down, and gets caught in the eye of the Hurricane.
After all, she’s the perfect storm.
You are Steve Roger’s little sister. You grew up with him and Bucky in Brooklyn but after both their deaths in the war you were left alone. Skip forward seventy years and with the help of SHIELD you survived and are now reunited with your brother and best friend. The Avengers, however, don’t know you exist until one day Steve introduces you and things in the tower become very interesting. (eventual BuckyxReader) (post CACW)

Title: Steve’s little Sister (part 6)
Note: Ok so I was in a dark place when I wrote this but it works with the plot so I kept it. I’m currently queuing this amidts a whole heap of mess ‘cos I’m still getting ready for my trip so sorry if there’s any spelling errors. Love you all and thanks for your support!
The moment you were down Sam alerted FRIDAY but wisely asked that none on the mission were to know. Everyone was by your side in a flash and you felt claustrophobic. People were everywhere, shouting, talking over each other making the attack even worse.
“SHUT IT!” yelled Tony, clearly pissed off with everyone. “All of you out. You’re not helping here. In fact you’re probably making it worse. Sam, thank you for letting us all know but now everyone out. I will deal with this.” Everyone stood around in shocked silence, none of them moving. “Out!” Ordered Tony once more and this time people responded. Once the room was clear Tony worked with you on your breathing and managed to calm you down. Tony had been distant with you ever since the party and you understood that, your comments to him must have been a shock, but you were grateful that he was here helping you now.
Once you’d slowed your breathing he moved you to the couch and talked. He made polite conversation about the day and the weather and eventually you calmed down enough to answer his questions.
It took a while to realise that Tony wasn’t being polite, he was actually curious. He explained that Steve was very quiet about his past and never opened up to anyone. When asked he just avoided the subject. You made the comment on how that was typical stubborn Steve and Tony burst out laughing. You both smiled at eachother then and realised how much in common you had.
Tony talked about his work, his suits and eventually his life. You spoke about your time in Brooklyn, Steve caring for you, him and Bucky raising you when your parents passed, patching up Steve and Bucky when they got home from a fight. Conversation flowed freely between the two of you and Tony stayed far longer than he had to. Soon the conversation moved on to your time with Howard and SHIELD. How he and Peggy found you. The things you did. How you were injured in the field and how Howard sacrificed his supply of Steve’s blood to save you. Tony talked about the side of Howard you never saw. The father and husband that he became.
Tony smiled but it was a sad smile and you could see he missed his father. It was after this that you both fell into silence and Tony got up. His demeanor had changed and you could tell he was far more relaxed, as though a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
“Thank you,” you murmured just as Tony was about to leave the room. He turned around and looked at you with a kindness in his eyes.
“No problem kid.” he replied before shaking his head and laughing. You tilted your head in confusion but Tony just smiled.
“You know why Steve brought you here right?” he questioned and you nodded.
“Yeah,” you replied sheepishly, “he never told me outright but I reckon it’s to heal the rift that’s divided the team after Leipsig.”
“That’s what I reckon too.” Tony shook his head again and lowered his voice, “between you and me kid, I think it’s working. Don’t tell Steve though, he’ll never let me hear the end of it” and with a wink he turned and left. A smile broke out on your face and despite his plan behind it, you were glad that Steve had brought you here. Brought you to your new family.
The mission took 4 days to complete and in that time you settled into your routine at the tower. You made sure you were busy so you wouldn’t worry about your boys. Between training with the team, baking, hanging with Nat and writing time flew by. Occasionally you would freak out but someone was always there to help you. You even found time to hang with Tony in his lab, he got very enthusiastic when you actually asked him questions about his work.
You were on the couch with Nat and Sam when the quinjet landed. You jumped up off the couch your face painted with worry. Only when you saw Steve and Bucky dismount the jet did your shoulders sag with relief. Nat gave your shoulder a quick squeeze and a kind look before you headed out the doors, holding yourself back from running into your brother’s arms.
“Steve!’ You yelled out whilst waving and upon seeing you, your brother’s face broke out into a grin.
“victoria!” he called back and broke out into a jog towards you. Seeing his reaction your grin widened and you broke out into a sprint, crashing into your brother’s embrace. He chuckled into your shoulder and ruffled your hair. “Hey kiddo,” he soothed and you felt his stiff shoulders relax as you held him, “missed me did you?”
You stepped back and gave his shoulder a shove. “Of course I did you fool,” you replied trying to wipe your teary eyes without him spotting. Steve released a soft chuckle and wiped your other eye with his thumb.
“You okay?” he asked quietly, his voice filled with concern. You nodded and Steve’s attention was pulled away by Clint. “I gotta go debrief,” Steve told you and with a kiss on your forehead he moved off to talk to Clint. Silently Bucky sidled up beside you and gave you a small smile. You returned it and he ruffled your hair before he too followed Steve inside.
You wandered back to your spot on the couch beside Nat and released a shaky breath.
“Are you going to ask him?” Nat questioned without taking her eyes off the screen.
You’d been talking with Nat about this for ages. You wanted to go on missions. You couldn’t deal with Steve and Bucky being gone, the stress and panic was too much for you. You thought, and Nat, Bruce and Tony agreed, that it would be better if you accompanied them. You were ready, you knew how to fight and the team could use another pair of hands, all you had to do was convince Steve.
“I’ll ask after the debrief, hopefully he’ll be in a good mood.” you replied beginning the anxious wait for it all to be over.
When Clint collapsed on the couch beside you you knew the meeting was done. Taking a deep breath you stood up and with a reassuring nod from Nat (not that she looked up from the TV) you went out to find Steve. He was emerging from the meeting room when you spotted him with a file in his hands. He looked up and went to speak but you knew you had to get in first or you’d never be able to ask.
“I want to go on missions.” You blurted out stopping a few feet away from him.
Steve’s face fell and his entire body tensed up. The file he was holding fell from his hand but he didn’t seem to notice.
“No.” he bluntly replied before turning around and moving down the corridor.
“Steve. Wait.” you cried as you grabbed his arm and pulled him around to face you. “Please. I didn’t exactly cope very well when you left.” you admitted sheepishly, “Everyone agrees it would be fine if I came. Easier even.” you desperately tried to explain.
Steve’s eyes darkened when you said everyone and he pulled his arm from your grip.
“No victoria,” he stated again not looking at you. You made to persist but Steve beat you to it. “NO!” he shouted scaring you. He softened at your look of panic and repeated, “no, please just no.” he practically begged and you almost felt bad. He placed his hands on either side of your shoulders and ducked his head in a grimace. “I can’t lose you victoria, I just can’t,” he implored, begging you to see his reasons.
You reached out to place a hand on Steve’s forearm. Your eyes were filling with tears and you struggled to speak clearly.
“Steve don’t you get it? I can’t lose you either. That’s why I want to come.” you tried to calmly explain but your brother wasn’t hearing you.
“No. that’s final.” Steve ordered firmly pulling away and turning around. That was the last straw for you.
“YOU UTTER HYPOCRITE!” you shouted and Steve turned around. “I don’t want to lose you either, did you ever think of that?” you raged. By this point Steve was facing you with his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Did you ever think of me all those years ago? Did you ever think of how I felt when you came home half dead from some fight or another?” When you saw the guilt in Steve’s eyes you knew he hadn’t and this spurred your emotions on further.
“When Bucky was conscripted my world collapsed.” you continued your voice now at a normal level, occasionally cracking with the pain you felt, “I couldn’t think straight for days but then I pulled myself together because I still had you and you were getting into even more fights. Then you enlisted and I fell apart again. But I couldn’t show you how I felt because you came home so happy, so excited that you were going off to war. Off to your own death. Waving goodbye to you that day on the bus was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. You were my little big brother Steve and I was losing you.
“But I managed because you were so happy and I just…” you released a long sigh and the tears started streaming freely down your face. You were pleading with Steve now, begging him to understand how you felt. How you still feel. The dam wall you had put up had broken and now everything was coming out.
“Bucky promised me he’d write and he he did. Each week, every Wednesday I’d receive a letter. Buck would tell me about the front. About the men he was serving with. It helped me cope. I picked myself up and kept going. I even went out to see a stage show with Dot and and the girls.”
Your voice sharpened as you pinned Steve with your gaze, “as it turned out the star spangled man was my brother. Not that you’d told me. You weren’t even planning to see me were you? If I hadn’t approached you after the Brooklyn show you never would have told me. My little big brother was now my big big brother. That was one hell of a shock, knowing you allowed yourself to be experimented on.”
Steve shrunk at your words but you continued, unable to stop.
“Then the tour took you to the front and that was ok. You weren’t fighting. I could cope. I tried to cope but one Wednesday I didn’t receive a letter. And then he missed the next week too, and the week after. It was such a relief to receive a letter only to read that he’d been captured. He told me what happened. How he was experimented on. Tortured. Then your letter came and you wrote me with such excitement that you were fighting. It nearly killed me. The only comfort I had was that you were now my big big brother and you were with Bucky.”
“victoria.” Steve pleaded softly but the floodgates had already opened.
“That was hard Steve. Really hard. But I received your letters and I got by, each day hoping the war would end. Wednesday’s became my favourite days. That’s when I’d get your letters. Then Bucky’s letters stopped again and yours became so short and vague.”
You paused and your voice became no more than a whisper.
“I heard about his death through Rebecca. It made sense, I was of no relation to him I just lived there. She said I’d probably want some of his stuff so she gave it to me. A box full of his belongings. I wore one of his shirts for days. I never saw Becca after that.”
Tears were flowing freely down your face and your tone was pained. You’d bottled these emotions up for so long and now it was all coming about. Steve stepped forward and wrapped his arms around you, pulling you to hi. You grabbed onto his shirt and clutched it tight.
“I only coped because I still had you. But then your letters stopped. A few weeks later I open my door to find a man standing there holding your last letter and folded up flag. You were dead. I’d lost everything. You were gone Steve. So was Buck. I was alone and in a bad place. I wanted to see you again. To be with you again. I was so close Steve. If Peggy and Howard hadn’t found me, I wouldn’t have made it.”
You paused again allowing a large sob to emerge from your throat and you felt Steve’s arms tightened around you. He’d never thought of how you felt, how you coped. He never realised how bad it had been for you.
“I can’t lose you again. Please.” you whispered into Steve’s now soaked shirt.
Steve was crying too and yet all he could say was, “No, please” You could hear the pain in his voice. It hurt him to see you this way but he was stubborn. He was your older brother and he saw it as his job to protect you. When his mind was made up he wouldn’t give in. You pushed away from him and started at him in shock before he fled down the corridor as fast as your feet would carry you. You didn’t hear him calling after you nor processed Nat’s concerned questioning. You ran to the one place you knew you’d be safe. Once you’d reached your destination you pounded on the door until it opened.
Bucky opened his door with only a towel around his waist, his hair still dripping wet from the shower he’d clearly just gotten out of. One look at your face and he knew something was wrong. He stepped back and let you inside checking the corridor for any clues before he closed the door behind him and focussed all his attention on you.
“Doll?” he questioned softly his face full of concern, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
With a huge sob you threw yourself at Bucky and he caught you with ease. Scooping you up in his arms Bucky took you to his bed and sat down on the edge placing you gently in his lap warping his arms around you waist, holding you in place. You cried into his shoulder and when he asked again what was wrong your only reply was,
“I can’t lose you Bucky. Please.”
Your words were knives in Bucky’s heart. He didn’t know who did this to you but when he found out they were going to pay. But not yet. You were Bucky’s priority and so it was with you he stayed. He held you and comforted you until you fell asleep in his arms completely drained from the emotional rollercoaster you’d just ridden.
As your breaths evened out Bucky smiled and placed a small kiss to your hair. Lifting you up gently he lay you gently under the sheets and after he’d put on some sweats he crawled in beside you.
You were his, Bucky realised. You’d held his heart for a long time he just refused to see it. He was going to do everything he could to deserve you. Even if you didn’t want him And with that thought he fell asleep beside you.

I’m trying not to stare but it’s hard. I wish the world would stick like a clock so I could look at him for as long as I want. There’ something going on in his face right now, something very bright trying to get out - a dam keeping back a wall of light. His soul might the a sun. I’ve never met anyone who had the sun for a soul.

Slouched down in the couch of the crappy motel room in the middle of nowhere, you watched dust dance through the air, the tiny stip of light filtering in through the mostly closed curtains illuminating the dizzying display. The sun shining outside painted the room a burgundy hue, color seeping in from the sun-paled curtains.
“It’s five o’clock somewhere,” you thought as you unscrewed the cap of the fresh bottle of vodka. You preferred scotch, but the smell of vodka was easier to mask. Better to stay safe, just in case you had to leave the room at some point in the day… not that that was part of any of your plans. Most people tended to frown upon liquor drinking at noon, and with the clear liquid working its way through your bloodstream, your plan to finish as much of the bottle as you could was well under way, the need to become numb, to be lulled into a heavy, hopefully dreamless sleep coursing through you.
Sleep was fleeting these days, and those were the best nights; the ones where you didn’t dream of him; where you didn’t see him reaching for you with big, strong hands and that line appearing on his forehead when he furrowed his brow in worry, asking you not to leave. Weird thing was, the words that had started your entire love affair had been those two little words, I’m leaving.

The line cut out and the phone was hurled against the closest wall.
