His head explodes, then his arms explode, and his chest explodes… then his pelvis explodes, and his legs just kind of fall away.

AUTHOR OF THE DAY:

Frederick Douglass

Born on this day, February 14, abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass was born into slavery sometime around 1818 in Talbot County, Maryland. He became one of the most famous intellectuals of his time, advising presidents and lecturing to thousands on a range of causes, including women’s rights and Irish home rule. Among Douglass’s writings are several autobiographies eloquently describing his experiences in slavery and his life after the Civil War, including the well-known work Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave.

Queer is a slur. Literally a slur. There is no Queer Community. Putting a slur in quotation marks does not change the fact that you spoke a slur. There are numerous ways to communicate the meaning intended behind saying Queer Community without using a slur to describe a broad range of people whom don’t want any association with the word.

It’s not hard to grasp, folks. You wouldn’t refer to trans people as the Tranny Community. You wouldn’t refer to lesbians as the Dyke Community. Find another word. Stop saying queer and just say what exactly you’re referring to - SGA people, trans people, lesbians, gay men, whatever. Hell, go ahead and say LGBT Community (even though such a thing doesn’t really exist). Just say anything else that isn’t a goddamn slur.

Nicholas II & Empress Alexandra Feodorovna || They were destined for each other, and their love was the load with which God had chosen to burden and to crown them, as the greatest trial and greatest gift for their hearts and souls. Years failed to blight the youthful vigour of their love, and their attachment, matured and ingrained, proved unaffected by all storms and stresses that befell them. { The Romanovs Love, Power and Tragedy }

To love and to care not when amarants fade

On earth be bathed in sunshine or shade !

To love and to be loved again

Whatever the joy, whatever the pain.

To love and to tell it on soft summer eves

Amid the rustling of green summer leaves,

 To feel sweet moments vanish away

And to know there is still so much to say.

To love as we love in the bye and bye,

Together to live, together to die.

One hope, one faith, both loyal and brave

Through life heart to heart, side by side in the grave.

Poem by Alix of Hesse for Nicholas, 1894.
