Netflix Announces 10-Episode Prequel to Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal

Nostalgia-driven streaming service Netflix has picked up The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a ten-episode prequel to the puppet-based cult film.

While the Kermit creator died on May 16, 1990, the Jim Henson Company lives on — and will be producing the series alongside director Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me). Leterrier, Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford will executive produce.

Lisa Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company, is also Jim’s daughter.

“Netflix has a deep respect for my father’s original work and the many people it inspired. They are the perfect partners to create this next epic chapter in ‘The Dark Crystal’ story for new fans and the loyal fans who have waited so long for more adventures from this world.” - Variety.com

While I am interested to see the show, I must admit I was most excited about seeing Jim Henson’s original art and behind-the-scenes of the 1982 original.
