Enjoy!

You couldn´t have been more excited to finally leave for college.
This was what you had been dreaming about for four years now. Especially after all the crap that happened to you in high school.
But you were done with this now. Your decision to move over 1000 Miles away seemed more right than ever.
You were pulling up into the driveway of the Michigan State University, your small car full to the top with all the stuff you brought from home.
In the end it had been more stuff than you expected but you hoped your new roommate wasn´t going to mind.
You had been kinda excited to meet your new roommate for weeks now, especially since you were usually a little shy around new people.
But this was going to be the start of a new life, a new you.
You were going to become a teacher and you were going to become a whole other person.
The sun was shining, and even though it wasn´t exactly warm, you were enjoying it.
It was pretty busy out in the parking lot and when you opened the trunk to get out the first of your boxes, someone immediately stumbled into you, making you loose your balance and fall onto the sidewalk.
“Shit, I´m so sorry, didn´t see you there”, that someone said and you grabbed the reached out hand before looking into the eyes of a small redhead that was looking at you in worry.

Returning to D103 was really awkward. You kinda felt the need to knock on your own room´s door because you feared he might be naked or something, but then it seemed like a ridiculous thing to do, so you just walked in.
Dean was now lying on his bed, half of his stuff still in boxes, making a whole lot of a mess on his side.
To be fair, you had to say that yours didn´t look better, simply because you hadn´t had any time to unpack because of all the drama.
For a second you just looked at him: He had his eyes closed, headphones on, the music so loud that you could hear AC/DC play.
Ugh, he had an amazing taste in music too.
Not sure what to do, you grabbed one of the boxes that said clothing on it and walked in the closet, where already half the space was taken.
To your surprise, his side looked rather neat. When you remembered your brother´s closet, you considered yourself lucky.
For five minutes you unpacked in silence until suddenly a voice said: “Hey, you´re back.”
You jumped, like literally, and then turned around, your hand pressed to your heart: “Jesus, do you have to startle me like that?”
He held up his hands in surrender and smiled a smile that was simply inhuman.
Without talking to him, you turned back around and put your jeans into the closet, hearing him stand up behind you.
“You seem to be really upset about this, don´t worry, I won´t molest you in your sleep or anything”, he said and you frowned, which of course he couldn´t see.
“Well, good to know”, you gave back in lack of a better answer and you could hear a low chuckle.
“So, what do you major in?”
It was a normal question and you had to remind yourself that he hadn´t done anything to you yet, so you decided to cool down a bit and actually get to know him a bit.
“I want to become a teacher for English and history, but I haven´t decided which will be my major subject yet”, you told him and then figured that it would be nice to ask a question too, “what about you?”
You were finished with the box and turned back around, seeing him stand between the beds, still smiling at you.
You wished you wouldn´t have liked his smile so much.
“I´m here with a football scholarship, so yeah, basically all I do is sports, a few unimportant things like english too”, he joked and winked at you, which made your stomach clench.
Quickly you grabbed another box and turned back around, trying to focus on the thing you were doing at the moment.
“Shall I help you unpack?”, he offered and you immediately shook your head: “No, thank you. Don´t you got your own stuff to unpack?”
You heard him kick one of his boxes: “Yeah, I guess so. But it´s unimportant stuff, so I´m doing it later.”
There was a short pause and then he cleared his throat: “Hey, even though this isn´t my fault, I´m really sorry. I´m sure that this isn´t what you had imagined it to be.”
You froze, wondering why he was saying this.
“Hardly”, you stated after a while.
“Yeah, I figured. Listen, I´m going to give you as much space at you need. The closet can be your personal dressing room or something. We´ll figure it out.”
You faced him again, tilting your head: “Why are you so nice to me?”
He frowned, the smile suddenly gone: “Why wouldn´t I be?”
Realizing that you sounded crazy, you forced a smile on your face: “Well, thanks. As soon as I figure out where I am supposed to take a shower and go to the bathroom,  I guess I´ll be fine.”
He chuckled again: “Can´t you just go down the stairs in the girl´s room to shower?”
Feeling dumb because you had never thought about this, you nodded and were relieved when it knocked on the door.
“That´s for me”, you announced and quickly rushed over to open the door for Charlie, who immediately walked into the room and tilted her head, looking at Dean.
It wasn´t exactly a subtle way to check someone out, but you had already figured out, that subtle wasn´t exactly Charlie.
“So you´re the guy”, she said and Dean, laying on the bed again, propped up on one elbow, grinned: “I guess I am. And you are…?”
“Charlie. I´m in Room 022”, she explained and then immediately turned around to you, “do you need any help (Y/N), or are you ready for dinner?”
You looked down at the still half full box of clothes, but decided that anything would be better than being alone with Dean for one more second and nodded: “Yeah, I´m going to unpack later, I´m starving.”
The redhead smiled: “Awesome, me too. Donna´s probably already there, let´s go. Bye Dean.”
She walked out the door and then waited for you in the hallway.
For a second you thought about asking him to come with you, feeling like it was the right thing to do, but then you figured that as a football player, he probably was going to meet up with other footballers and being rejected by him wasn´t the thing you needed right now, so you grabbed your jacket and waved at him: “See you later, I guess.”

Enjoy!

Going back to classes on Monday wasn´t exactly easy. Especially with everyone else turning and whispering as soon as you caught their eye.
You tried not to bee too worried about it, but after the second time someone “looser-coughed” you, the whole thing started to get to you.
You had spent the whole Sunday in bed with Dean, cuddling, talking, being happy, and you wished that it would have stayed that way for ever, but of course it couldn´t.
When you had woken up this morning, Dean had been already gone and you were a little disappointed because you had hoped he would walk with you to your shared english class but then again this was probably a little bit too much to hope for.
Still you were very glad when you found him sitting in the back row of the auditorium, waving at you and motioning for you to come sit with him.
A small smile on your face you walked up the stairs and tried to ignore the staring of the others.
When you got to him, you weren´t quite sure what to do though.
Should you kiss him? Should you just say hi? Was whatever the two of you had going on even something for public display.
Awkwardly you approached him and sat down beside him, clutching your bag while he smiled at you and said: “Hi”.
“Hi”, you answered, continuing to stay where you were.
You still thought about the  kissing thing but doing that would have implied that the two of you were in a real relationship and you hadn´t exactly discussed the terms with him so when he showed no sign of wanting to kiss you, you just hurried to get your stuff out of your bag without looking at him.
“So, how are things going?”, he asked quietly and you knew immediately what he meant, turning to him and shrugging: “It´s a little awkward. I feel like everyone´s talking about me and they probably are. And…”
You stopped and focused on the empty sheet of paper you had put in front of you.
“And, what?”, Dean asked.
You debated whether just saying nothing but then you sighed and turned to him: “And it´s not going to stop because Meg and the other Cheerleader´s are so popular. Everyone´s going to be afraid they get on their bad side and so they´ll just continue to hate on me.
I know how it works.”
His frowned: “Boy, all this popularity talk is such bullshit, I told you that.”
“Well, all I see is that one popular girl has said something bad about me and everybody´s believing it”, you gave back while twirling your pencil between your fingers.
“Maybe you are just imagining things”, he offered but his voice sounded like he thought you were crazy which you hated and you sat down the pencil forcefully: “I´m not crazy. It just is how it is.”
He held up his hands: “I never said you were crazy.”
Instead of answering him you looked at the front of the room where the professor had just arrived and you managed to stare at that same point for the whole lesson.

When the english was over you quickly rushed out of the room, not saying goodbye to Dean, feeling silly about doing so but also feeling a little hurt.
You sat trough your next hour without grasping any word the professor said and by the time lunch rolled around, you had a dull headache that made you want to throw things.
Angrily you walked out of your building and tried to decide if you should skip your afternoon classes to lie in bed and sulk but it awfully felt like letting Meg win and so you made your way over to the cafeteria where you planned on finding Charlie and with her one of the few friendly faces on campus.
Because you had considered going back to your dorm and had therefor hesitated to come here, the cafeteria was pretty packed.
People were rushing by you with food and being as annoyed as you already were you thought that it was pretty rude.
“Watch it!”, you barked at a blonde girl who accidentally stepped on your foot when you tried to get by.
“Woah, Jason, let the poor girl live”, you heard someone say and of course you already knew who it was.
“Dean”, you said and turned around where you were confronted with his green eyes only inches from you because there was almost no space to stand.
You weren´t in the mood to fight, especially not with Dean and especially not in a crowded cafeteria so you just said: “I´m hungry, do you want to grab something to eat?”
When you tried to turn around immediately, he grabbed you at your coat: “Stop. Listen, I´m sorry about what I said earlier. I know that the whole popularity thing is important to you and you are probably right that people are talking over you because I heard them say something earlier.
Of course I immediately told them to shut it but still.
Also I thought about something. You said that the Cheerleader´s are basically the queens in the popularity system, right?”
You just nodded, feeling like you were blocking the way but not caring at all.
He smiled: “Right, well if I´m not misinterpreting every stupid chick-flick I ever watched when nothing else was on, in that system, footballers are pretty much kings, right?”
“Uhm, I guess so”, you stated, very aware that he was still touching your arm.
His grin only got wider: “And then I figured, even though I´m really not a history buff, that even though you´re not a cheerleader, you probably still would be a queen if you were one of the king girlfriends.”

This had to be completely ridiculous to him and still he spent the whole morning thinking about this just because he knew you cared about it.
You also just heard him call you his girlfriend and as if that wasn´t enough, you also slowly started to realize where he was going with it: “Yes…”, you said cautiously.
“Well then, lets show everybody in here that you are my Queen.”
And then he kissed you.
It was a total show-off kiss, cliché, and cheesy and you would have never thought that you would ever find yourself participant in such a scene.
Hell, you would have probably made fun of the participants in such a scene if it wouldn´t have been so perfect.
When Dean finally let go of you, you were breathing heavily and your face was flushed.
You distantly noticed a few people staring at you, whispering under their breath again but this time you had the feeling that it wasn´t about you being pathetic.
Dean smiled at you and grabbed your hand: “So, my Lady, do you now want to come sit at the “cool table”?”
You laughed: “I´d love to.”
