Supporting Daddy
  • Mama Toaster teaches Roku that sometimes the best heroes like his Daddy don't need to be recognized by everyone.
  • -On his way home from the market, Genos is surprised to find Roku sulking down by the river.-
  • Genos: Roku, What are you doing here? You shouldn't be by yourself.
  • -Doesn't really listen as he hugs his knees to his chest. Genos decides to take a seat beside him-
  • Genos: ...Did something happen?
  • -Didn't seem like he would say anything for a while, but then he finally spoke up.-
  • Roku: ...They made fun of Sensei.
  • -He raised an eyebrow, not quite understanding. But he nevertheless continued to listen as Roku explained himself.-
  • Roku: A group of kids were talking about who they thought was a great hero in front of the store we were in, and they asked me who I thought was a great hero. But when I told them it was "Sensei," they said he was 'nothing but a bald-headed fraud who stole the spotlight from the real heroes'.
  • -He suddenly stood up, holding his hands into tight fists-
  • Roku: I wanted to beat them for saying that. I wanted them to take it back...but....Sensei stopped me. Told me that I should just ignore it...
  • -Genos blinked as he kept going on, though it was pretty clear what happened after. Being as hot-headed as he is he most likely ran off in frustration when Saitama stopped him from defending him.-
  • Roku: [-He bit his bottom lip-]Sensei's a great hero...probably the greatest...So why...why does he let them say such awful things about him? Why won't people recognize him, even though he's saved them so many times?
  • -Seeing him on the edge of tears, Genos smiles gently as he stood up and pat his head-
  • Genos: You're right, Roku. Sensei is indeed a great hero. And, yes, there are many who don't give him even half the gratitude that he deserves[-looks down sadly at that before continuing-]...But you see, Sensei doesn't do those things to earn recognition from everyone.
  • -Roku wiped the streams of oil from his eyes as he looked up at Genos in surprise.-
  • Genos: He does it because he 'wants' to do it. It's something that he felt he was meant to do in this world, even if others might not thank him or think even less of him when he gives the credit to another...[-He smiled happily-] But you know, that's what we're for. Even if the world doesn't believe in him or thank him for the things he does, as long as we stay by him and support him, I think that'll be more than enough to make him happy.
  • -Roku sniffles as he wipes the last oil tears from his eyes-
  • Roku: Really?
  • Genos: Really.
  • -Roku looks down sheepishly for not realizing this.-
  • Roku: ...Okay.
  • Saitama: Hey! [-lightly punches Roku on top of the head-] You shouldn't have run off like that! What if a monster went and ate you up again? You know it's a pain getting you out of those guys.
  • -Saitama arrives right on time, clearly having looked around for Roku around the town. Roku rubs his head as he looks up at his Sensei, feeling embarrassed and apologetic for causing him trouble.-
  • Roku: ...I'm sorry, Sensei.
  • Genos: Where are the others?
  • Saitama: Left them with King back at the apartment. They're likely waiting to get dinner started, so we better head back...[-suddenly kneels down in front of Roku-] Come on, get on. I took nearly the whole day trying to find you, so no arguing.
  • -Roku blinked as he looked at Genos, who smiled as he nodded for him to go ahead. Roku beamed as he clamored onto his shoulders holding on to his bald head tight.-
  • Saitama: Here, hand me some of those groceries.
  • Genos: I'm alright, Sensei.
  • Saitama: It's fine.[-he takes one bag from him-]
  • -Genos walks beside him as Roku swings his feet, feeling much better knowing that he had an amazing hero who he could believe in.-
