Part 1

“How the hell did you not know he was allergic to peanuts?” if it were a possibility, Will felt even worse than he had since he brought Nico to the emergency room. “Usually, that’s part of the thirty second meet-and-greet,” Cecil was waving his arms around, and Will shrunk away from them to avoid being hit. “Hi, my name’s Nico, I’m single, attracted to men, and oh, yeah, deathly allergic to peanuts.” Will almost shied away from Cecil altogether, but Lou Ellen was quick to defend him.

“Knock it off, Cecil, he had a long week. I’m sure Nico told him and he just forgot. It happens to the best of us. He’s already nervous about Nico, don’t make him nervous about you, too.” Will was thankful that his friends had brought him coffee in the hospital, but he really didn’t need to be lectured in the process. He was already a wreck waiting for the nurse to let him see Nico. He didn’t need reminded that he was the reason his boyfriend was in the emergency room in the first place.

They fell into silence as the news played on the large TV in the waiting room, only serving to further heighten Will’s nerves. The weather report told rain, and Will mentally crossed out the plans that he had made for he and Nico to go to the park after dinner. Even if it wouldn’t rain, they were going to need to go straight home so Nico could rest while his body fought off the rest of the toxin.

Approximately an hour and a half after Will had brought Nico into the ER, a kind looking nurse stepped into the waiting room and called Will’s name. Will shot up quickly, following behind the nurse to where he suspected Nico’s room was. The nurse spoke softly on the way to Nico’s room, and Will almost missed what he said. “We went ahead and gave Mr. di Angelo another dosage of epinephrine since his throat was still swollen when he arrived and he was unable to breathe. He was also given a round of steroids to try and keep the swelling at bay. He seems stable for now, but we want to keep him for at least another three hours to make sure that he doesn’t relapse.”

The nurse opened a door for Will, and Will quickly walked into Nico’s room. His boyfriend looked worse for wear, and when Will saw how bad Nico looked, the guilt came crashing down on him full force. He didn’t look like he was being strangled by his own throat anymore, but his face was still swollen and he didn’t look like he could see out of his eyes very well, though they were closed in what Will assumed was sleep.

Will tried to swallow down the emotion that swelled up in side of him, threatening tears. Taking a deep breath, Will reached out and took Nico’s hand gently. The nurse left them alone in the room without Will noticing, but it was hardly a concern of Will’s at the moment. He was focused on Nico and what he’d done to his boyfriend. Not that Will expected for Nico to still want to be dating him after he woke up. After what Will did to him, he didn’t expect Nico to still want to be with him.

Hell, Will almost killed Nico. That wasn’t something a caring boyfriend did.

Pushing his own feelings aside for the time being, Will squeezed Nico’s hand gently. “Hey, Nico,” he whispered softly. He hadn’t been expecting response, which was why he was so surprised when he got one.

Nico squeezed Will’s hand back, ever so gently.

Secondary Check

A/N: A tradition in my family is that we all must become (basic) first aid certified. My younger brother is working on getting his, and I was reading through one of his books when I came across secondary checking. I know what it is, of course, as I am certified myself; but rereading the procedure made me think about how awful it would tickle if used gently. Solangelo is literally my joy in life, so I used them in this fic. It’s based… shortly after the Heroes of Olympus series, I guess?

(Also, I’m sorry I haven’t written anything in a while… please accept my apology along with this mediocre fic.)

“Please, Nico?”

“No.”

“Oh, come on-”

“I said no!”

Will huffed at his boyfriend, annoyed with his stubbornness.

“Nico, I just want to practice secondary checking. Is that so wrong?” Will asked, crossing his arms. “No, but I don’t want to be your guinea pig!” Nico responded, crossing his arms as well.

“You make it sound like I’m some evil scientist,” Will mumbled, rolling his eyes.

“You could be! We just got together, I don’t know what you’re capable of yet,” Nico retorted in a sassy tone, and Will couldn’t help but smile. Nico was just so cute when he tried to act all stubborn and tough.

In consideration of recent events, Will had decided he wanted to completely perfect his first aid; he had been practicing on everyone, constantly asking other campers to be his next “victim”. Hey, is it a crime for a medic to make sure they know what they’re doing?

“Come on, just once? I want to really know what I’m doing. Son of the god of healing or not, I need to review stuff!”

With a sigh, Nico looked up at his boyfriend and rolled his dark eyes. “Fine, but just because you’re annoying me, and doing this will make you shut up. And only once!” He reminded as Will gave him a bright grin.

“Thanks!”

“Yeah, yeah.”
