This design was directly inspired by the work of one of my favorite motion graphics crews, romanowsky. The individual piece of theirs that Falcon-Punched me right in the face with a Brass Knuckle of inspiration was this work right here and I wish it had a name, because if it did, my eyes would be screaming it out its name, and asking for a cigarette later. Uhhhng! SO! GOOD!
IT’S FINALLY FINISHED! It actually turned out rather well. Here’s a Semi-Realistic Bust of my favorite Steven Universe character: Garnet! I went with her post-regeneration look for the sculpture (I even used her color palette in Jailbreak as the base tones for the skin, eyes and hair). This was also the first time I really went in and played with the Cycles render engine in Blender. This was also the first time I tried using Blender’s hair particle system, which I think turned out alright. Overall this project was a great learning experience and I’m very happy with what I got out of it.
I keep seeing beautiful gems like this one all over the Tumblr, and each time I do, they inspire me to no end. For this design, I started with trying to reproduce the inspiration almost exactly, but after a short series of “OH HEY! WHAT IF…???” steps away from the inspiration… well, look where it’s at now. I know that this particular output looks nothing like that original inspiration, but I’ll get back to that some day. This is awesome enough to post for now.
I want to keep my soul fertile for the changes, so things keep being born in me, so things keep dying when it is time for things to die. I want to keep walking away from the person I was a moment ago, because a mind was made to figure things out, not to read the same page recurrently.
Last year in July, I posted a design named “Reflect Halos”. Today, I had an idea to extend that design and in a rather cool way - I replaced the spheres with rounded Icosahedrons. I am very pleased with the shape and motion of the reflections. :)
This is one of the designs I created back in September 2014 when I spent a week hanging out and making art with one of my closest and dearest friends, voxelfox. Show her some love you guys - she’s been one of the most important people in my life for about 14 years now.
