Hi Charlie! In honor of the Hufflepuff necklace I ordered on Etsy coming in the mail tomorrow (hopefully!), what is your Hogwarts house and what do you think the boys houses are? I think you guys have a lot of attributes from all the houses, so I've been confused by my own headcannons as to what your houses would be XD
OKAY this is an awesome question, and one that Cas and I have discussed at length since Metatron voodoo-ed him with all things pop-culture knowledge…
DEAN is definitely a Gryffindor. He’s totally got the rush-in head first bravery quality, where you ask questions and feel guilty later… He has blind bravery for the people he loves and is willing to completely sacrifice himself to keep them safe.
Sam is harder to pin down… I waffled a lot between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff but I think I have to settle for Hufflepuff. He is brave and smart, but is fiercely loyal to the people he loves, sometimes to a fault, and he has a nasty habit of putting himself last.
And Cas? Cas is an angel. He’s… he’s Cas. He truly defies categorizing, but I think If I had to choose, I’d put him in Hufflepuff too, along with Sam.
You’re TOTALLY right though, that they all have characteristics of all the houses, and it’s really more like an endlessly shifting kaleidoscope of–okay but I’m getting sidetracked.
As for me? Welllllll, I’ll let you decide that for yourself.
Even when they are very young, orangutans may start to form ideas about their world—specifically, how and when to use certain tools. That’s the conclusion of a new study, which indicates that ape cultural traditions may not be that different from our own.
Like humans, orangutans have behavioral traditions that vary by region. Orangutans in one area use tools, for example, whereas others don’t. Take the island of Sumatra, in western Indonesia. By the age of 6 or 7, orangutans from swampy regions west of Sumatra’s Alas River use sticks to probe logs for honey. Yet researchers have never observed this “honey-dipping” among orangutans in coastal areas east of the water.
How do such differences arise? Many experts say that social learning is key—that the apes figure out how to honey-dip by watching others. But even the most careful field researcher can have difficulty proving this, says Yale University anthropologist David Watts. Wild apes are always responding to their environment, he says. And it may be influencing their behavior far more than social learning.
So this is how I spent my morning. Eating Dosa, a South Indian dish, revising my Hindi for finals. Side note - I’m sick of hearing people referring to ‘Indian’ as a language. It’s not. There are far too many languages in India and please stop calling the languages we speak 'Indian.’
In one of the great tragedies of our age, indigenous traditions, stories, cultures and knowledge are winking out across the world.
Whole languages and mythologies are vanishing, and in some cases even entire indigenous groups are falling into extinction. This is what makes the news that a tribe in the Amazon—the Matsés peoples of Brazil and Peru—have created a 500-page encyclopedia of their traditional medicine all the more remarkable. The encyclopedia, compiled by five shamans with assistance from conservation group Acaté, details every plant used by Matsés medicine to cure a massive variety of ailments.
“The [Matsés Traditional Medicine Encyclopedia] marks the first time shamans of an Amazonian tribe have created a full and complete transcription of their medicinal knowledge written in their own language and words,” Christopher Herndon, president and co-founder of Acaté, told Mongabay in an interview .
The Matsés have only printed their encyclopedia in their native language to ensure that the medicinal knowledge is not stolen by corporations or researchers as has happened in the past. Instead, the encyclopedia is meant as a guide for training new, young shamans in the tradition and recording the living shamans’ knowledge before they pass.
As the traveler who has once been from home is wiser than he who has never left his own doorstep, so a knowledge of one other culture should sharpen our ability to scrutinize more steadily, to appreciate more lovingly, our own.
Worse, file-sharing had rendered us, the knowledge guardians, irrelevant. Within a few years, knowledge had ceased to confer any distinction, and hoarding it had become about as socially advantageous as stamp collecting. Thanks to the Internet, cultural knowledge was now a collective resource. Which meant that being cool was no longer about what you knew and what other people didn’t. It was about what you had to say about the things that everyone already knew about.
Why the Old-School Music Snob Is the Least Cool Kid on Twitter
As is invariably the case with all antagonisms (“X” and “Y”), the solution (“n”) lies somewhere in the middle, at the HEART of things. The evidence clearly shows that there has, indeed, been a logical, logarithmic modulation of life forms on the Earth to conform to her ever-changing harmonic relationship to the Sun or SOL. Earth is locked into a harmonic grid pattern which demands synchronous adjustment in all dimensions and the creatures that inhabit those dimensions, to conform with the Great “n”, the Solar Constant.
Thus within the parameters of the “Law of Kind” that we have been examining, life-forms have “evolved” as we have “revolved”, out-dated as we have rotated, and so on. When the Moon was born, there were some serious and rapid changes. Periodically, mighty whips “crack’ and heads roll!
Principally through the harmonic agency of food, species have quickly (only one hundred years for powerful Old World immigrants to become the Twinkie/acid generation with 5-watt constitutions and bodies that reflect the same) changed to accommodate often sudden changes in the harmonic environment. At the same time, inner and outer influences have come into play many times which have seeded, cultivated and otherwise instrumented certain radical departures from prevailing modalities, the dimensional status quo.
And again, at the same time, all of this is manifesting in a logarithmic time/space! Cyclically, and often cataclysmically, the Great Whip “cracks”, whole flora and fauna disappear (modulate into other dimensions), ancient bloodlines and whole civilizations vanish, mountains thrust skyward and oceans are displaced… and often very quickly so! Forget “uniformitarianism” (the theory that geologic changes are slow and uniform) in logarithmic time/space!
If the evolutionist would but consider the dynamics of “spontaneity” in a Spontaneous Creation; and the creationist would but realize that the creation is, indeed, spontaneous, but in periodicities of logarithmic time; then they could embrace one another’s vision and perhaps even one another!
But nooooo! “Science” (the Yin “left-brain) has us all evolving from louseinfested, slack- jawed, filthy, bumbling, snaggle-toothed, carnivorous morons who walk sideways, invariably die in their teens and screw like dogs (see, “The Quest for Fire”). At the same time, off to the side is a bright-eyed and bushy- tailed woodchuck; immaculate, utterly coordinated, bursting with chi, vital and intelligent! No wonder healthy farmers of yesteryear resist the urbane, aristocratic nightmare version of Man’s origins!
Meanwhile, the Fundamentalist (the Yang “left-brain”) has determined from studying the Bible, that some 5,700 years ago, the world was created out of Chaos. Interestingly enough, the “Aztec Calendar”, with its sacred roots in hoary antiquity, reports that exactly* 5,720 years ago (in arithmetic time), a great cataclysm swept us away and into the Pit we had dug for ourselves. In “real” time that is 11, 440 years ago, at the end of the Pleistocene and the Vega cycle. Wooly mammoths were freeze-dried instantly with unchewed buttercups in their mouths and stomachs. Remember?
The esoteric tradition of the World has it that a great flood inundated the planet at that time. The present cycle of five “Suns” commenced then and ended in August of 1987 (the “Harmonic Convergence”). Soon enough, the truth of all of this business of Man’s origins will be revealed to all who are ready for it. Most will not be. We’ll discover for ourselves what it means when a great cycle cinchesup, when the whip cracks, in logarithmic time/space.
thank you for telling people the difference between smudging and smoke cleansing too many ppl in this community say smudging when they're not Native and it bothers me so so much and so many resource and advice blogs don't check ppl even though they have a lot of young people and baby witches following them. Thank you for your maturity!!
There’s indeed a responsibility that comes with resources/advice/reference blogs particularly here where there’s a lot of people just beginning the magical and/or pagan practice.
It is my hope that the knowledge about cultural appropriation will spread everywhere!
As always they forgot about Ancient Slavs/Scythians (Скѵѳы/Skiþy) known by the Minoans and mentioned even in OT (= copy of Mesopotamian myths)… Ps. If not fucking Catholic Church, many slavic monuments would attracted the eye of successive generations till now, but of course Western Roman Empire many monuments either destroyed or hid forever to spread the lies about the superiority of judeo-christian and/or western culture. How long the lies about Ancient Slavs will be continued?
Q. How do you think your style incorporates/blends elements of your African and LGBTQ identity?
“Traditional Herero attire pulls from our surroundings, the animal that is most fundamental to our survival, and the colonists that sought to systematically erase every last remnant of our existence from the planet. We keep cool in the desert, pay homage to our cows, and declare that not only did you fail at wiping us out, but also, at wearing your own clothes. We took your look, hit it with some much-needed flavor, and made it our own. This cultural knowledge gave me the basis of my understanding of subversive fashion. I spent such a large part of my childhood trying to “pass” as straight that by the time I came out, I had exhausted my ability to care how most people thought of me. I dress accordingly.”

About Limit(less): Limit(less) is a photography project by Mikael Owunna (@owning-my-truth) documenting the fashion and style of LGBTQ African Immigrants (1st and 2nd generation) in diaspora. The project seeks to visually deconstruct the colonial binary which states that one cannot be both LGBTQ and African. #LimitlessAfricans

God made us all from one being and he made us all different colours, from different locations, and with different features. And he told us all to treat each other like equals regardless of all that and more because he does not differentiate between us based on how we look. He differentiates us by our good deeds and sins.
Be different. Be special. Stand out! Be inspired. Be righteous. Be a champion. Be a truth seeker. Voice your opinion kindly without the intension of hurting others emotionally and physically.
Stop the hate towards others based on their colour, origin, race, gender, sexuality, features, body, accent, language, religion, culture, education, knowledge, status, etc If we were all the same can you imagine how boring it would be to live this life? Stop all this unnecessary hate towards each other. We are civilized human beings! Be the better person. Be patient. Control your emotions. Control your action. Restrain yourself from making bad decisions. Do one thing a day to make others smile and reward yourself for it. Stop trying to seek others approval. Stop trying to be like everyone else. Stop being jealous. Stop spreading hate and false rumours. Stop putting other people down and making them feel ashamed. Stop being a bully. Stop being arrogant. Stop being ignorant. Stop turning your head away, closing your eyes, and covering your ears when something bad happens to others anywhere in the world. Stop raising guns at those people you don’t bother understanding. Stop stereotyping. Stop making profit on other peoples suffering. Stop lying. Stop letting criminals go unpunished. Stop punishing innocent people. Stop breaking up families. Stop making sons and daughters cry. Stop making mothers and fathers cry. Stop making sisters and brothers cry. Stop making husbands and wives cry.
Remember those you hurt have loved ones too. They are human beings too. They are someone’s father, mother, sister, brother, son, and daughter. Stop to think that if you hurt one person, you are hurting their entire family, their entire community, and their entire country. How can you bring yourself to take away someone’s mother, father, son, daughter, sister, and brother? Put yourself in other people’s shoes before you do something to them. If you don’t want or like something to happen to you than don’t do it or let it happen to other people.
Stop having favourites when it comes to making this world a better place.
