crying while i was making this gifset

the four princes who stand with Soo.

                                                            (and the one who won’t.)

Season 6, Episode 25: The Seeker

Can we take a moment to appreciate this part of the scene? So many times we see similarities between Red and Kitty and Jackie and Hyde where we see Hyde and Red having similarities and Kitty and Jackie having similarities. But here we see something a little different.

Neither Red nor Jackie seem to want to see Hyde doing any crying. And their responses while they make me laugh, I’m pretty sure aren’t very true. IF Hyde had cried in front of them, I really don’t think Red would have told anyone and Jackie seeing Hyde cry wouldn’t make her love him any less. They just say these things because they don’t want to see Hyde cry and maybe to annoy Kitty a bit.

And then there’s Hyde and Kitty. Not a huge similarity here but just look at the way they both look back at their significant other. For some reason I just love that! if you watch this gifset long enough you can see them doing it at the same time!

I became very depressed at the end of 2013. I was exhausted fighting people off. I couldn’t even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical, and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go. I just didn’t feel like fighting anymore. I didn’t feel like standing up for myself one more time—to one more person who lied to me. But January 1, I woke up, started crying again, and I looked in the mirror and said, “I know you don’t want to fight. I know you think you can’t, but you’ve done this before. I know it hurts, but you won’t survive this depression.” I really felt like I was dying—my light completely out. I said to myself, “Whatever is left in there, even just one light molecule, you will find it and make it multiply. You have to for you. You have to for your music. You have to for your fans and your family.” Depression doesn’t take away your talents—it just makes them harder to find. But I always find it. I learned that my sadness never destroyed what was great about me. You just have to go back to that greatness, find that one little light that’s left. I’m lucky I found one little glimmer stored away.

The unknown distance to the great beyond
Stares back at my grieving frame
To cast my shadow by the holy sun
My spirit moans with a sacred pain

Bellarke and the repercussions of Day Trip

I’ve been thinking about this (crying about it) and while I’m sure plenty of people have talked about this - I haven’t seen it on my dash.

The scene in 3x03 between Bellamy and Clarke, and the implications of it, go allll the way back to 1x08 and the scene where they bonded sitting against that tree.

And I want to take a moment to praise the writing here, because WOW this is how you craft a relationship.

Up until 1x08, Bellamy Blake was mostly a dick. We’d seen glimpses of the real BB in there (I mean, I shipped Bellarke from 1x03 so) but he hid those glimpses behind his general anger at the world.

This changed after the conversation with Clarke when she told him she needed him and when she gave him her forgiveness. He was NOT a monster, and he could be a good guy again. For the remainder of S1 he continued to co-lead with Clarke, but they became a team and a unit.

We all obviously love and adore that scene, and knew it was important when it aired. But wow, what has come since has truly proven just how MASSIVE that moment was for Bellamy. It breaks my heart to think about just how Bellamy has clung onto Clarke’s words to him, how he must remind himself whenever he feels like giving up that Clarke NEEDS him.

And so, we come into S2. The arrival of the Ark means that his role has changed. He’s no longer in charge, and then by the second half of the season when it becomes clear that Clarke IS in charge, he is happy to sit back and support her. Because he isn’t the politics guy. He’s the heart, she’s the head. He’s the motivational speeches guy, she’s the strategic decisions person. He is 100% happy to support her.

In 2x09 we see the first moment that Clarke hurts him when she says ‘it’s worth the risk’. But he can explain this one away, because he hasn’t forgotten that she said ‘I can’t lose you too.’ He comforts himself by reminding himself that Clarke has just been through something awful, and so he does as she asks. He goes into the mountain and he SUPPORTS her because she NEEDS him.

When they come together again in 2x16, he pulls that lever with her because they are a TEAM. He SUPPORTS her because she NEEDS him.

And then we come to the second time that she hurts him at the end of that episode. We’ve all spoken about how that scene 100% mirrors the scene from Day Trip, only Clarke doesn’t stay.

But Bellamy can explain this one away too. He can understand the need to step away (he probably wants to do it himself), but he probably thinks she won’t be gone long. She’ll come back. In the meantime he will do as she asked, he will look after their people because she NEEDS him.

Only, while she’s gone…he starts to realise that maybe HE needs HER. It’s small things at first. So, when Gina starts flirting with him he thinks yeah, okay - I’m going to take this nice thing because I need SOMETHING. Even so, he’s waiting and waiting for Clarke to come back. When he hears she is being hunted, he cannot handle it because HE needs HER.

In 3x02, this really hits home with Bellamy. People can argue all day over whether he loves her romantically or not, but her importance to him cannot be questioned. He finds her, he’s about to save her and then she’s gone again. To death, he believes.

I would have LOVED to see Bellamy’s behaviour when he found out that Clarke was alive in Polis. I suspect that before he knew, he was barely holding himself together. When he found out, it became a little easier. She’s okay. We’ll get her back soon. I’LL GET HER BACK SOON.

Only…when she’s right there, dressed in Grounder gear, she says ‘I’m sorry’.

Now - I 100% do not blame Clarke for her choice. She doesn’t HAVE a choice. She is not doing what she wants, but she is doing what her people need. But this is the moment for Bellamy where it becomes too much, and we see that coldness settle in his eyes.

It all comes back to Day Trip. She asked him to stay and ever since then, he’s believed that they are a team and that they have each others backs. Whatever she has asked of him, he has done. Whenever she has needed him, she has been there.

He asks her to come home, but she stays with the person that made them irradiate that mountain in the first place.

I’m scared of Bellamy’s arc over the next few episodes. I’m scared of what his actions are going to cause. But wow, I do not blame him for the breakdown that is incoming. And as a Bellarke shipper I see this as such an important evolution of their relationship.

And it’s just utterly amazing to me that a scene from the eighth episode of the first season has led us here.

And while I don’t blame Clarke for ANY of her choices above. I’m really looking forward to seeing her fight for HER Bellamy.

Ugh @ Bellarke, you precious children. It’s Bellamy’s turn to struggle, like Clarke did in the second half of S2. Once we get past this, probably with another Day Trip moment, we’re on the path to the REALLY good stuff.
