Congratulations to Henry Reece, author of The Army in Cromwellian England, 1649-1660 and Chief Executive of Oxford University Press from 1998 to 2009, who was awarded the Samuel Pepys Award Trust Prize for 2013. The Award was presented at a Dinner of the Samuel Pepys Club at Apothecaries Hall on Thursday, 24 October 2013. The biennial prize was first made in 2003 (to Claire Tomalin) to mark the centenary of the Samuel Pepys Club and the tercentenary of Pepys’s death.

Chairman of Judges, Ann Sweeney, commented: “The judges were very impressed with Henry Reece’s incisive and thoroughly researched analysis … His clear and readable book makes an important contribution to knowledge of the period.“
