You too can have my amazing curly hair...

So one of my lovely followers (cristinalovesthis) asked me about my hair routine. And decided to share it with you all.

I do obsess over my hair because its natural frizzy and dry. I was the girl who used to go through a bottle of mousse and hairspray on a weekly basis just to tame the mane (lol!) One day I realized I was doing more damage than good and search the mighty internets for a solution. Now I have happy hair that no longer needs products.

My routine: (in the shower) I condition everyday but only shampoo about every 3 days. I try to use a non-sulfate and non-silicone based shampoos & conditioners as much as I can. I use a shit ton of conditioner, you want your hair to be soaked in it. I finger detangle with the conditioner and let it sit for a couple minutes, then rinse. After the shower, I put my hair in a towel in a weird way.. its hard to explain. No towel/hair rubbing (thats the worst!), I keep my hair in the towel for 5 minutes or less, just enough for the towel to soak up the excess water. Then I let it air dry and thats it. I recently started using a leave in conditioner, just a tiny dab (quarter sized), only because its a bit unruly right now since i am growing my hair out and am avoiding a haircut. Its also good extra protection for the summer months.

If you want to try the conditioner routine, start by shampooing only once a week. It will feel gross/weird at first but you’ll get used to it. Make sure to use only non sulfate and non silicone products. When I started doing this I didn’t want to spend too much money on the products as I was unsure if it would actually work - so I started with the good ol’ cheap Suave Naturals. (and honestly i’m still cheap I use Tressume Naturals now, my sister in law uses the whole foods shampoops and conditioners)
For about a week your hair will be weird, you will notice your hairs natural oils coming out, you may even think its gross… but its what you want!
After a month, or when you notice your hair is complete used to the change, you can start shampooing every 3 days or so- you be the judge, if your hair gets real oily its time to shampoo.
After the shower try not to put any products in your hair (this will be the hardest part) if you can’t stand it, I recommend using a small amount of mousse, (i prefer frizzease) I’d say about a tablespoon worth. The trick is putting it on as soon as you shut off the shower. When your hair is dripping wet, only apply the mouse to the ends, of course scrunch up as usual. wrap your hair in a towel or tshirt. once the excess water is gone, 5 minutes max, unwrap and DONT TOUCH. Just let it air dry.
