She made Steven Universe, the first cartoon on Cartoon Network made by an nonbinary woman.
She filled the show with representations of nonbinary, gay, polyamorous and other LGBTQ+ characters.
She gave us an wedding between two sapphic nonbinary characters.
The gems are nonbinary women. Stevonnie and Smoky Quartz are nonbinary people.
She blew any arguments out against the gems being nonbinary out of the water, they’re just going to look even more foolish and nonsensical.
This is so validating as an person who identifies not only identifies as an nonbinary person, but as an woman as well.
She gave us representation, by creating and being herself. I’m so proud of Rebecca for creating LGBTQ+ representation, and I’m so proud of Rebecca for coming out as an bisexual and as an nonbinary woman. She is so inspiring, Rebecca shows that it can be done. LGBTQ+ people can create and be role models. We exist and we can inspire.
Rebecca Sugar, former storyboard artist on Adventure Time, came on stage during the AT SDCC panel to sing the song she made for the show’s series finale and to commemorate Adam Muto. The song’s name is called “Time Adventure,” and it’s just….a wave of emotion.

This is a master post revealing of what you can expect if you’re going to SDCC 2018 for Steven Universe!
Next week, Cartoon Network booths will be giving out free Steven Universe tote bags (Picture one is the front, picture two is the back) while supplies last, as well as pins for everyday of the convention. (Pins made by Angie Wang of the Crewniverse!)
Also, Funko! plans on releasing their Supercute Plushies (top), as well as CN releasing their 12 inch plushies. (bottom)
Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems are getting their own inflatable booth this year towering over the convention! The finished product at SDCC will look a lot like the model up above.

This is Steven Universe’s 2018 poster that will be signed by Crewniverse members after the panel.
PANEL TIMES & NEWS
On Thursday, July 19 from 4:30 to 5:30 in the Horton Grand Theatre, series creator Rebecca Sugar, star Estelle (who voices Garnet), and experts from the Dove Self-Esteem Project will host the “Superheroes of Body Positivity Panel” to discuss the importance of body positivity in both the real and animated world.
Then, on Saturday, July 21, Sugar and the show’s cast, Estelle, Michaela Dietz (Amethyst), Deedee Magno Hall (Pearl) and Zach Callison (Steven) will gather in the Indigo Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. for the official Steven Universe panel, promising some “epic announcements” and perhaps a ukulele performance or two.
For the first time, Cartoon Network has confirmed that all the clips airing at SDCC will be uploaded on their YouTube channel the following day. This includes Steven Universe and all other CN shows that have a Comic Con panel.
EDIT: Hey guys, I’m looking at the post, and those Supercute Plushies by Funko! arenot an SDCC exclusives. I believe they’re going on sale in the near future, most likely at Hot Topic, but they will not be exclusively at SDCC. I’m so sorry for the mistake, but still merch to look forward to!
