How to write your book step 201

THINK

Think about your book. Always. Have it boiling away in your mind all the time. Next time you are cooking dinner, or having a cup of tea, or tuning out while watching someone else’s story, think of your own. Don’t just think about it when you are already thinking about it.. remember to think about it. Draw yourself into your story make yourself think about your book, your characters, your world. Don’t let it get too far away, have it constantly on your mind, do it deliberately.

When you stop to look at a sunset, think about how you would write it into your book. When you stop to write a shopping list imagine the handwriting of your characters. When you shower,  think about the next scene you’re going to write.

Reading books is fantastic escapism, but writing books is even more so.

“I believe in movement. I believe in that lighthearted balloon, the world. I believe in midnight and the hour of noon. But what else do I believe in? Sometimes everything. Sometimes nothing. It fluctuates like light flitting over a pond.”
Patti Smith, M Train
“In my way of thinking, anything is possible. Life is at the bottom of things and belief at the top, while the creative impulse, dwelling in the center, informs all.”
Patti Smith, M Train
“In time we often become one with those we once failed to understand.”
Patti Smith, M Train
“Anxious for some permanency, I guess I needed to be reminded how temporal permanency is.”
Patti Smith, M Train
“Not all dreams need to be realized.”
Patti Smith, M Train
“[W]ithout a doubt we sometimes eclipse our own dreams with reality.”
Patti Smith, M Train

Make a list of everywhere you’ve lived. Next to each item on the list (state, city, house, whatever), write five words that describe it–the first words that come to mind. Then use those words to write at least a page about each place.

Entropy, Love and Creation.

The opposite force of Entropy is Love, our embracing loving attention. It is our attention, our Love, that keeps things from being recycled and taken by Entropy. Entropy breaks all things down. Like a great steel chomper, it breaks everything down and creates disorder out of order. It is Love alone that keeps it a bay. These two forces, along with the creative force that dwells within us all, perpetuates Life and the Universe we know. Creation brings it into being, Love nourishes and sustains it and Entropy breaks it all down to be made new again. Made new again to be nourished again and broken down again and the cycle endlessly repeats.

what would you say about an INTJ slytherin? ps i really like your blog hehe

First off? G8 m8 I r8 8/8. The blog owner is obviously an INTJ Slytherin

They’re ambitious and cunning, cynical at times, but also hopefully dreaming about better, they’re creatives who don’t dwell; they make decisions and act.

They’d make sure to explain classmates the tougher topics, as they enjoy sharing the knowledge that they’ve mastered - AND it benefits the entire house to have smarter students. On the long run, these people are future employees, employers, and colleagues, and study sessions might be a rare opportunity to get some contacts, seeing how they usually prefer to stay out of the spotlight.

They don’t like the whole “traditionalism” thing that’s going on, as it’s holding development back.

I got a tip for you when you start lingering on the bad, when you spend your nights sleepless because of the dwelling. I want you to sleep on the other side of your bed, I want you to change the sheets; burn the old ones. Let the memories go up in ashes.

I've noticed that you post alot of stuff about mythology, and whenever you talk about the movie you're making you refer to it as "mythic". I've always loved mythology, but I have a hard time explaining to other people why its important to me. What are your thoughts?

I think Joseph Campbell wrote what is probably the most beautiful encapsulation of the value of mythology:

“The wonder is that the characteristic efficacy to touch and inspire deep creative centers dwells in the smallest nursery fairy tale—as the flavor of the ocean is contained in a droplet or the whole mystery of life within the egg of a flea. For the symbols of mythology are not manufactured; they cannot be ordered, invented, or permanently suppressed. They are spontaneous productions of the psyche, and each bears within it, undamaged, the germ power of its source.” - Joseph Campbell, The Hero with Thousand Faces

For me, mythology is simply the sum total of the human effort to understand who we are. Myths from around the world swirl around certain themes and images. They tell us what was important to us in the past, what is important to us now, and what will be important to us in the future. I don’t think these stories are merely amusements, they are essentials. They provide a mythic backdrop to our lives that makes everything in life more vivid.

Myths help us embrace the inevitable course of our own existence, they instruct us on how to make peace with our troubles, our passions, our unavoidable aging, and the prospect of death itself.

You mentioned my film, and you are quite right. “Mythic” is the term I most often use to describe my intentions for it. The Ruin of Hylas is my attempt to communicate an essential human story that speaks in a mythic language that will hopefully resonate with people on a very basic level. For those unfamiliar with the project, you may wish to look through the art I’ve been posting from the film’s development.

DAY 2659

Jalsa, Mumbai               July 23/24,  2015               Thu/Fri  1:28 am

Phases of life in a day, astray and away ..

The morning risings of anticipation and delay .. in some way ..

But then the mobilisation takes possession and shifts its strengths to the rest, to the being, to the more needed screen .. and moves on .. people of calibre and strength and bodily attained wisdom, convey their learnings on other body learnings .. they stress, they cardiograph it, they erase the regions of strain, they leave for the silence of breathing and subtle meditation ..

Numbers on digital screens display the needed numbers to report exclusively on date and weight .. approved then to move to morsels of taste and vigour and needed essentials of our constructs, on age and wants and limits ..

The progeny takes its time to spend, in fresh and new environs, in laughter and cute talk, in squeals of catching games and of hide and seeks .. and then to campaign against ailments that go undetected and need attention and care … they are wordy and simple and personal and natural and it is felt they are connectable … they are done and done for all for the moment ..

That short dreamland by the day, that impromptu shut eye, that unattended resting rest, within time and within the timings of events predetermined, leading to a delegation of creativity .. of minds that dwell and think and manufacture that which shall be manufactured in the minds of those that see and be with visual ..

These are the difficult decisions, of decisions .. the construct and the execution, the base the content the attraction the message or non message .. whatever !

Likes and dislikes take the shortest of times .. getting to that moment is the time consummation .. either way ..

In life’s puzzle may I be that unattended particle which when placed in proportion shall fit the space it has vacated ..

For others .. for all ..

Amitabh Bachchan   … my confession today .. I could not have been a bigger puzzle myself even if I tried tonight … !!
