Steve Aoki: the man who works 361 days a year - BBC News
"When I'm not in the studio or touring and playing shows, I get fidgety," says DJ and producer Steve Aoki.

Next time you feel like a bit of a moan about how few holidays you get, spare a thought for DJ and producer Steve Aoki who plays 300 plus shows a year and takes less than an average working week off.

Okay, we understand the idea of travelling the globe and playing music to thousands of gibbering clubbers may not seem like work to most punters but the income tax man would beg to differ.

Anyway, we tracked Steve down on his uber-short vacation ahead of the Grammys where a Netflix film about his hectic lifestyle called I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead was nominated in the documentary category.

Steve also recently collaborated with One Directioner Louis Tomlinson on the track Just Hold On.

Steve, we’re speaking to you in Aspen, Colorado, how is it going?

It’s beautiful, I have a view of the mountains and the trees, it’s really nice.

Are you a country person at heart then or are you a city boy?

I’m a city boy that romanticises being away from the city.

300 shows a year and just four days off, is that all it takes to recharge the batteries?

I’ve got to take a break sometime, so I’m spending the days snowboarding and enjoying myself with my friends, I do that once a year and this is my four days off. I try to enjoy doing my hobbies. You get into a cycle and it becomes awkward when I’m not in the studio or touring and playing shows, I get fidgety, I have to get back into the grind. I’m lucky because I love what I do.

Where are you at your most creative?

That’s an interesting thing because before, I would have to find it in a a particular location but I’ve realised that my inspiration is everywhere I go and I need to be able to harness that and sometimes those moments of creativity are fleeting and you have to try and capture it when it comes. Luckily I get to travel the world and meet amazing creative people and you just have to be in the now and soak it in.

You spend most of the year travelling, what are your must-have travel items?

Just so I can survive, because I don’t have a regular sleep pattern, in order to sleep in a car or a plane, I have my eye-mask, my specific eye-mask, I have this obnoxious pillow I travel with and my headphones.

The most important bit about the eye mask is that it doesn’t touch my eyes so it looks like a bra for a doll, it’s bulging, I should paint some eyeballs on it. I put it on and it’s blacked out. I got my hood up, headphones on, if I’m travelling through Japan or China, I have a face-mask, you can’t tell who I am.

You’re working with the Migos, who were described by Donald Glover as ‘this generation’s Beatles’, what did he mean and do you agree?

I’ve know these guys for a long time, they played a show in Atlanta, we went into the studio and knocked out a song real quick. These guys are amazing, without writing anything down they get an idea and start vibing it out and just nail it in one go.

The thing about music is that you look at The Beatles and throughout history there are very few groups that define a sound and generation. That song Bad and Boujee is definitive of this time in America, of American culture, so I agree with Donald that they represent culture in a really massive way.

You had a new punk-influenced fashion collection showcased during New York fashion week, is this about scaling up 'Steve Aoki’ the brand?

I’ve been involved in fashion in one form or another for a long time, when I was 15 I was screen-printing shirts in my mum’s house for my first band and selling them on the road. So I knew it was something I wanted to do but it took a crazy long time for the Dim Mak collection to be ready.

We wanted to showcase it in the right way and so we turned the runway into a skate ramp so the energy of the [clothing] line was matched visually by what people were seeing as the skaters modelled the clothes.

You didn’t bother training models to skate then?

That would have been a disaster, we got some of New York’s best skaters that really knew how to rep the brand.

Lots of articles claimed New York fashion week was notable for how political some of the shows were. What is it like being a creative person working in Donald Trump’s America? Especially as a second-generation immigrant.

This is probably the worst period of time that I have lived in America, under this dictator-style, fascist president who is pushing his regime and clearing the rights of minorities, immigrants, women, the LGBT community, across the board - there are major steps backwards.

But one thing is for certain - the world is noticing that America itself is coming together and uniting as a voice. That’s why punk happened in the early 70s because it was the voice of protest and rebellion post-Vietnam and now its happening again. We’re having a renaissance. I’m excited about the voices and the people that are going to be speaking out.

There’s a lot of creative spirit, especially in music and the arts and fashion, it’s all part of a larger thing. The Rage Against The Machines of the world, they’re going to come back and inspire more people.

Can we expect some politically-charged material from you?

I can’t help it, it’s in my DNA and I’m not one to sit on the fence especially when something like this has shown its face. When I post something political or anti-Trump on my Facebook, some of the comments I get, you can’t believe how much ignorance is out there.

I might lose some fans by not staying neutral but I don’t have a choice, I have to use my voice.

TATTOO STYLES

Tattoos are an art form. And to me, art is creativity. So no list will ever be complete, until there will be someone out there working on something new. But this (a rewriting of an old piece I wrote for ET on tumblr) can help to know a little bit more about modern tattoo styles. Take your time to understand the differencies, go through the names in the list, find your style. A good tattoo lasts forever, and knowledge is the roots of a good choice.

Old School/Traditional: Is usually referred to American classic tattooing. Artists like Amund Dietzel, Sailor Jerry, Herbert Hoffman or Bert Grimm, from the firtst decades of 1900, are the names to start from if you want to know its roots, Classical subjects (anchors, ships, roses, daggers, eagles, horses etc.), simple designs, bold lines and  basic color palettes. Traditional tattooing is definitely more than a trend, with its own philosophy and unwritten rules.

Tony Nilsson, Cassandra Frances, Samuele Briganti, Paul Dobleman, Paul Fulton, Florian Santus, Moira Ramone (pics: Moira Ramone, Paul Fulton, Mauro Quaresima)

There is also a different kind of traditional, widly diffused, enough to be considered a style, that people keep considering part of traditional or neo traditional. It keeps bold lines, and part of the classic imaginery, mixed with weird, modern, surreal, pop stuff. No limits for color palettes, no rules. Tradition meets creativity, one of the personal favourites.

El Carlo, Ron Wells, Luca Font, Pietro Sedda, Ray Wallace, Dane Mancini, Laura Yahna, Ibi Rothe, Deno Jr (pics: Ray Wallace, El Carlo, Laura Yahna, Dane Mancini)

Japanese: Originally called Irezumi, its roots runs deep in the history of its country. Its meaning in Japanese culture changed through the centuries, from tebori (tattooing by hand) to Yobori (tattooing by machine), to became part of the classic Japanese imaginaery, as we know it. Not every asian themed tattoo (common subjects like dragons, yokai demons, tigers, hannya masks and so on) is japanese style. Everything from colors to placement, to the shapes of the untattooed areas has its rules. As any other ancient styles, of course, you can find its modern, contaminated, version too (Gakkin or Wendy Pham’s works are a good example).

Shige, Pino Cafaro, Caio Pinero, Bill Canales, Gotch, Rodrigo Souto, Yutaro (Bill Canales, Pino Cafaro, R. Souto, Shigenori Ywasaki)

Modern tribal and ornamental: usually referred to a mix of geometrical shapes, patterns, mandalas, asian motives, and Maori influences.

Guy le tatooer, Thomas Hooper, Marco Galdo, Chaim Machlev, Little Swastika (Guy, C. Machlev, T. Hooper)

Realism: From portraits, to a custom piece, to the perfect reproduction of a picture/painting. Realistic tattoos is one of the most spectacular styles in tattooing. No black outline, and lifelike shades, black and grey or colors. It easily mixes with different styles, like with Simone Pfaff or Andrey Lukovnikov, where realism is just a technical part of their own style.

Robert Hernandez, Chris Gherman, Alex De Pase, Scrappy Uno, Sandra Daukshta, Lippo, Sam Stokes (Lippo, A. Acosta, S. Daukshta)

Biomechanical: A trend in the late 90’, basically made of mechanical parts that looks like fused with the flesh. Organic and unorganic elements are realistically drawn, to create the illusion to be carved in the onwer’s body.

Don McDonald, Carson Hill, Guy Hatchinson (who creates bio organic style) (itp: Carson Hill, Don McDonald, Guy Atchinson)

New School/Cartoonish: Fantasy, big eyes subjects, rounded shapes, bright colors, crazy proportions and prospectives. Another style that was more popular in the 90’, now is often fused with different styles, specially with neo traditional.

Kati Berinkey (she fuses new school and sketchy/illustrative styles for her designs), Adam Hawtorne (another one with his own distintcive illustrative style), David Tevenal, Nathan Evans (mixing neo trad e new school) (A. Hawtorne, A. H., David Tevenal)

Neo Traditional: Illustrative like tattoos, where classical subjects like women, crows, snakes, triangles, wolves etc. (from the classic old school imaginery), are drawn with bright colors, and realistical shading, in a aperfect mix between traditional and realism.

Emily Rose, Dusty Neal, Lu’s Lips, Christophe Bonardi, Debora Cherrys, Rodrigo Kalaka El Uf, Jack Goks Pearce. (E. R. Murray, R. Kalaka, Teresa Sharpe, Lu’s Lips)

Lettering: Text tattoos are usually a bad idea, unless they are done in the proper style, and from a specialized artist.

Norm Will Rise, Justin Wilson, Big Meas (N. W. R., J. Wilson, Big Meas)

Chicano: the word “Chicano”, referred to American citizen of Mexican origin, ceased to be a slur in the 60’, while the style itself was born a couple decades before. Common subjects are wemen, skulls, roses, and religious icons, usually in black and gray.

Boog, Macko (Macko, Boog)

These are the most common, radicated, worldly reconized style. But is just a partial view of what the contemporary tattoo scene can offer. In the last 15 years, more and more styles are born. Some of them still don’t even have a name, some have more than one. Some of them will became classic and some are just a trend.

Fun fact: wikipidia’s italian “tattoo” page have “genital” listed as one of the most common styles.

Watercolors: The colors are spread to simulate watercolors. Often mixed with other styles. People keeps debating about how watercolor tattoos will age. Only time will tell.

Klaim, Amanda Wachob, Niko Inko (A. Wachob, G. Smash, Klaim)

Photoshop: the names probably comes from a folder where the artist Xoil (still one of the best in this style) used to store his works’ pics.

If you have ever used PS, you know what I’m talking about. PS style is basically a collage of different images and techniques, from watercolor to dotwork to lettering.

Xoil, Niko Inko, Voller Kontrast, Little Swastika, Jef Palumbo, Arlin ffrench (J. Palumbo, Xoil)

Illustrative Geometrical style: geometrical elements are common in modern tattoo designs, but some artists  generated a new trend, mixing illustrative elements, modern tribal patterns, and geometrical lines.

Maxime Buchi, Daniel Meyer, Valentin Hirsch, Kamil Czapiga  (C. Machlev, D. Meyer, Maxime Buchi)

Illustrative, sketchy: The artist draw on skin all the lines that usually are ereased in a finished design, to create the illusion of a pencil sketch.

Lea Nahon, Sam Rulz, Nomi Chi, Sven Groenvald (Lea Nahon, S. Groenvald, Nomi Chi)

3D: Again, not exactly a style.  The artist uses realistic shading, shadows and prospectives to give the illusion of depth.

Russ Abbott, Jesse Rix (itp: Jesse Rix, Russ Abbott)

Engraving: on a thin line between illustrative, sketchy, and traditional tattoos, engraving uses black lines to simulate ancient wood engraving techniques, taking inspiration from medieval like illustration.

Sam Rulz, Maxime Buchi, Andrei Svetov (A. SV, Sam Rulz)

Next style has no name yet, and it’s slightly less diffused.. But I like it, so it’s in the list. ;) Tipical traditional pieces but coloured with flat colors, almost no shades, and twisted, experimental, original designs.

Adrian Edek, Sany Kim, Aivaras Lee, Patryk Hilton

Girly: It’s a definition I hate, cause I’m convinced there is no room for sex differencies in art. I’m a big bearded boy and still I would proudly wear a Jody Dawber or Cassandra Frances’ piece. Still, this is how people call it. Bold lines and flat shading are mixed with bright colors like pink, yellow, light blue, that perfectly fits the “cuteness” of the subjects, often inspired from pop culture and cartoon characters.

Jody Dawber (basically a traditional artist), Alex Strangler, Sasha Mezoghlian (A. Strangler, J. Dawber, S. Mezoghlian)

The last style of this list have no name yet, but it’s still worth to be considered cause of it’s diffusion and people response to it. Basically the artists recreates a simpler, geometrical, version of the subjects, with no black outline, and a watercolor effect.

Sasha Unisex, Marius Trubisz, Marcin Surowiec, David Cote (M. Surowiec, Sasha Unisex)

How to improve your life

1. Find your resources whether you listen to music, go jogging or do creative writing.

2. Meet friends once a week even if it’s just for a short coffee break.

3. Search after a new hobby you can do on your own such as drawing or learning a new language.

4. Save money and travel to new places inside and outside of your own country.

5. See the beauty in every little thing no matter how tiny it might be.

6. Talk to a childhood friend and reminisce in old memories.

7. Have an hour me time every other day.

8. Ask for help without feeling guilty afterwards.

9. Cut toxic people out of your life.

10. Before you make any decisions, imagine what your 80 year old self would want you to do in that situation.

Valentine’s Day, 11:07pm

Time is slipping away as you wait for Bucky to return home from a mission so you can celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Pairing:
Bucky Barnes x Reader

Warnings:
This pure, shameless fluffy fluff…no really.

Word Count: 2,322

A/N: I was sitting in a creative meeting today and we were looking at some vintage designs when I spotted something that just screamed for a story.  I can’t tell you what it was here but it’s down below ;)  So for the next hour I tried to discreetly type out on my phone the story that was running through my head while also trying to pay attention to my coworkers. Be warned that this is a quickie and hasn’t been subjected to my usual weeks and weeks of editing, rewriting and obsessing.

It’s 11:00pm in Budapest.

1:00am in Moscow.

5:00pm in the Avengers compound where you are hunched over a screen tracking the quinjet on radar.

You’ve been silently staring at the display of vintage world clocks in the control room for hours; lulled by the sweep of the second hands as they circle slowly.

Just ten more minutes you tell yourself.  In ten minutes, Bucky will be home.

Can I request one where the reader is Happy Hogans daughter and he brings her to the tower cause she’s been suspended from school? Tells her to stay put in the office but she wanders anyway and finds ‘uncle tony’ in the lab working so he shows her all kinds of fun stuff and happy gets annoyed cause tony influences her rebellious behavior but tony calls it encouraging her to be creative? She then meets peter and happy just looses it. Lol 😆

Like usual I recommend you listen to the song Blue By: Troye Sivan

The song also influenced the title, once again, like usual.

I’m also still taking prompt requests, so if you’d like to request one, you may!

Pairing: Peter Parker x Reader

Description: You were Happy Hogans daughter, also one of the biggest trouble makers at your school. Well was, you might have gotten suspended and was now being forced to stay in your dad’s office. But knowing you, you decided to wander off to find your Uncle Tony, who was busy working in the lab. He decided to show you around and let you experiment with things he probably shouldn’t have. This made your dad get extremely annoyed, not only because you disobeyed his orders but Tony was basically encouraging your rebellious behavior. Tony didn’t see any harm in letting you have fun, he thought it helped make you creative. Your dad blew off Tony, but couldn’t take it anymore once you met Peter.

Warnings: Nothing really, it’s just really cute and awkward and I love it.

Word Count: 3,331

A/N: So this is imagine is super cheesy, I think it’s also super cute and adorable and aw. I wish Peter could be my boyfriend ahah. Also, sorry it’s really wordy, I got really into it oops. Anyways I hope you enjoy. :)

Side Note: I’m also starting a tag list for my imagines, so if you want me to tag you in upcoming imagines, comment below so I know to tag you!

People knew you, mainly because of your dad, who worked for Tony Stark, also someone you considered your Uncle since you basically saw him everyday.

Now being known wasn’t always a good thing for you, you caused a bit of trouble with a few people.

Getting into fights when you knew you shouldn’t, but you couldn’t help it.

And that is why your dad was now picking you up from school, his face red with frustration.

You had gotten suspended.

“They deserved it.” You muttered, throwing your backpack over your shoulder angrily.

“I told you no fighting in school, do you not listen to me at all?” Your dad scolded, making you shrug slightly.

“Whenever you tell me things I can’t do, I zone out because where’s the fun in that?” You answered honestly, making your dad groan angrily.

He drove you back to his work, telling you to stay in his office and not to move at all.

“What if I get hungry? Or have to go to the bathroom?” You objected, making your dad squint at you.

You replied by giving a sarcastic smile, before your dad closed the door and left you to your lonesome.

You sat there for what felt like hours, bored out of your mind, there was no way you were going to do homework.

So, you decided to venture out of your dad’s office, even though you were told not to.

But then again, where’s the fun in listening right?

You wandered around the building, before stumbling along the lab, which had Tony in it.

He was focused on something, so you took this as your opportunity.

You quietly entered the room, trying to not make a single sound to signal you were in there.

You slowly creeped up behind him, before standing beside him.

“Hi Uncle Tony!” You smiled, making him jump.

“Good lord Y/N, don’t do that to me!” He laughed, before pulling you into a hug.

“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at school?” He questioned, making you smile innocently.

“I may have.. You know.. Gotten suspended?” You spoke the last word quietly, looking at everything except him.

“Suspended! Y/N, what did you do?” Tony questioned, making you laugh to yourself.

“I’d rather not say.” You admitted, not wanting to get into the whole dilemma.

“Anyways, what are you doing? It looks a lot more fun than sitting in a boring office.” You smiled, looking at all the electronics Tony was currently working with.

“Well, Y/N, I’m actually in the process of building some new technology to help my suit.” He smiled happily, you could tell he was proud of himself.

You weren’t going to lie, you looked up to Tony, you found him a great role model, he was successful, had a great job, had super hero friends.

You wanted that.

Or something at least similar to that.

“That’s awesome, is there anything I can do to help?” You offered eagerly, making Tony’s eyes light up.

“Actually yes, see that table over there?” He pointed to a table with loads of pieces on it.

You nodded your head, observing the table, before looking back at him.

“I want you to go find pieces you think could be used to help create new equipment for my suit design.” He smiled, making you squeal with excitement.

You ran over to the table, beginning to sort pieces out, putting them into piles.

You must’ve been with Tony for about an hour an a half, you were having way more fun with him, rather than being stuck in an office.

You had eventually told Tony why you had gotten suspended, Tony could see both points of the situation.

Even though your dad was disappointed in you, Tony wasn’t, and that’s why you loved being around him.

You were busy putting pieces into different piles when you heard your dad enter the room.

“Mr. Stark, my daughter Y/N, she’s disappeared from my office and I can’t find her have you seen-” He stopped mid-sentence, seeing you over at a table, messing with objects he wished you hadn’t touched.

“Tony what did I say about letting her mess with things she shouldn’t?” Happy spoke sternly, making Tony’s eyebrows scrunch in confusion.

“She’s helping design my new suit Happy, I think she’s okay.” Tony defended you, patting Happy’s shoulder.

“Mr. Stark, I know you think what you’re doing is okay, but it’s not. You’re influencing her rebellious behavior even more by letting her do things she’s not allowed.” Happy ran his hands over his face, annoyed and tired.

“Happy, she’s having fun, let her be creative for once. Did you ever think she was doing all of this because she wanted you to see her other side? Her creative side?” Tony questioned your dad, making him think for a second.

He never saw it like that before, maybe you were trying to tell him something, but you didn’t know how, so you showed it in a rebellious way.

“Maybe you’re right, maybe I’m just overreacting.” Happy spoke aloud, making Tony smirk slightly.

But the more your dad thought about it, the more he realize how wrong Tony was.

“Tony, I know you think creativity is best for young kids, and I get that, but what Y/N has done and is doing now isn’t what you call creative, it’s rebellious and it needs to be dealt with responsibly.” Happy looked at you, who was sorting out parts, while Tony looked at Happy with annoyance.

“Just give her a chance.” Tony looked at you, a smile on his face, before he turned around to work on his suit design.

Your dad walked over to you, making you look up.

“What are you doing here?” You questioned, not in the mood to deal with what scolding was going to come this time.

“I thought I told you to stay in my office? And then when I return and don’t see you there I get worried, I looked everywhere for you Y/N, you can’t just go running off like that anymore.” Happy chastised you, making you sigh.

“I also don’t want you working with this, these could be dangerous and I don’t want you getting hurt.” He sighed, making you leave the lab with him.

But before you could leave you heard Tony shout, “I want you to meet someone later Y/N!” Which only made you even more curious.

Who could he want you to meet?

Actually the bigger question was would your dad even let you meet them?

You were forced to stay in the office the rest of the day, your dad made you do your homework which bored the life out of you.

What felt like eternity, you were finally released out of his office, his work hours were finally over.

You were walking with your dad, he told you Tony was with the person he wanted you to meet.

“Do you know who it is?” You asked your dad, who shook his head ‘no’ in response.

You were nervous, you weren’t going to lie, you were terrible with first impressions.

You continued down the hallway until you could hear talking, it was Tony and another male voice.

You then became face to face with a young boy, he looked about your age.

“Y/N! This is Peter, Peter Parker, he’s our newest member.” Tony smiled, grabbing Peter’s shoulder.

You looked at Peter, as he looked back at you.

You gave a shy smile, which he instantly returned.

“Hey.” You simply stated, making him smile even more.

“Hey.” He replied, not once taking his eyes off you.

Happy kept looking between the two of you, his eyes widening.

“No! No I can’t have anymore problems.” He shook his finger at Peter, who stifled a laugh.

“Stark, I see what you’re trying to do, and I won’t allow it!” Happy shook his finger again, but this time at Tony who only smirked.

“Happy, they’re young, let them have fun.” Tony grinned, wrapping his arm around your dad’s shoulder, pulling him away from you and Peter.

You stood there awkwardly, as did Peter.

“Sooo..” You spoke up, looking at the floor.

“Soooooo…” He replied, a smile on his face.

“You’re the newest member, huh?” You looked at him, seeing he was already looking at you.

“Apparently so.” He chuckled, making you smile.

His laugh was adorable.

You walked over to him, and soon enough you two were walking side by side around the building.

Talking about everyone and everything.

He told you how he was Spider-Man, and how his best friend found out he was Spider-Man.

You told him how you got suspended, and why you did, which only made Peter laugh.

You found out that you both actually went to the same high school.

“How have I never seen you there before?” You asked, stopping to look at him.

“Honestly I don’t know, maybe it’s because we never really knew each other before?” He shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“I guess so.” You ran your fingers through your hair.

You two talked for hours, just getting to know each other.

Hours passed and it was time for you to get home, you honestly didn’t want to, you wanted to stay and talk to Peter.

But being your dad, he pulled you away, giving Peter a 'look’ which only made him chuckle.

Once you got home, your dad gave you a talk about boys, and why you shouldn’t talk to them or date them, that way it will save him the trouble of having to worry.

You only rolled your eyes, your dad was being the ridiculous over protective dad, while Tony basically threw Peter at you saying 'date him now.’

Later that night you sat in your room, listening to music, while doodling in your sketchbook.

You were focused on your drawing, when you heard a knock at your window.

You didn’t know what to do, nobody ever knocked on your window this late at night.

You hesitantly walked over to your window, only to reveal the one and only Spider-Man.

You let out a laugh, letting him into your room.

“What are you doing here?” You laughed, as Peter took off his mask.

“I wanted to see you.” He smiled, setting his mask down on your desk.

You felt yourself start to blush, you couldn’t control it.

“I don’t know what to say, nobody has ever said that to me before.” You admitted, sitting down on your bead.

He pulled a chair over, sitting down across from you.

He could tell you were insecure about being vulnerable, it was the first thing he noticed when he met you.

The way you’d close yourself off and put on a cold front so people would leave you alone.

Or the way you acted around people to get them to be afraid of you.

He knew you just needed someone to be there for you, and he took that opportunity to put himself in that place.

Love is hard, I know,

All your lights are red, but I’m green to go,

Used to see you high, now you’re only low,

All your lights are red, but I’m green to go.

Peter moved the chair closer to you, grabbing your hand gently and placing it in his.

Your eyes widened, not used to this kind of affection, but you weren’t going to lie, you loved it.

“Why are you doing this?” You whispered, looking at Peter who was deep in thought.

You could tell he wasn’t listening, so you squeezed his hand, getting his attention.

“Peter, what’s the real reason you’re doing all of this?” You whispered, looking in his eyes.

Peter swallowed nervously, he didn’t know how to say it without scaring you.

“Honestly Y/N, I fell for you, hard, and I want to be there for you on your good days and your bad days, I want to take you on cute dates, make you breakfast in the morning, I just want to be with you, because I love you, Y/N.” He gushed out, making your eyes water.

Peter loved you.

You.

You were speechless, nobody had ever confessed their feelings to you before, you didn’t know how to react.

A tear slipped down your cheek, but Peter was quick to wipe it away with his thumb.

“I-I..” You stuttered, trying to come up with words.

Peter watched you in amusement, he loved seeing you get nervous around him.

You glanced up to see a small smirk on his face, making you smile.

I want you,

I’ll color me blue,

Anything it takes to make you stay,

Only seeing myself,

When I’m looking up at you,

I want you.

“Don’t do that.” You blushed, making him laugh.

“Do what?” He challenged, making you glare at him playfully.

Peter got up off the chair, sitting down beside you.

“You know what.” You smiled, making him pretend to think.

“Nope I don’t think I do.” He smiled, turning to face you.

It was in that moment you realized how close the two of you were.

Your foreheads were basically touching, making your heart race.

Then I fell in love with a heart that beats so slow.

You both locked eyes, and then it happened, your lips connected.

It was soft, short, but full of passion.

You both pulled away, cheeks red.

“I love you too, Peter.” You whispered, looking over at the brunette boy, who wasn’t expecting you to say it back so soon.

His eyes lit up, a small on his face.

You knew he’d always be there for you, and you’d always be there for him, no matter what.

I know you’re seeing black and white,

So I’ll paint you a clear-blue sky,

Without you I am color blind,

It’s raining every time I open my eyes,

I want you.

That night you spent talking to Peter, laying on your bed, cuddled into his side, his arm wrapped around you.

He stayed the entire night, and that was the first night in while you felt genuinely happy.

Later that afternoon you broke the news to your dad, who wasn’t thrilled and said he’d kill Peter if he ever broke your heart.

Tony also told Peter he’d kill him if he hurt you, after all, Tony was someone who always looked after you.

You couldn’t have been happier, and neither could Peter, he had the girl of his dreams, and she had the guy of her dreams.

Even though you two had just met, it felt like you had known each other for years, something not a lot of people get to experience.

You were just lucky enough to be able to.

I want you,

I’ll color me blue,

Anything it takes to make you stay,

Only seeing myself,

When I’m looking up at you,

I want you.

Did you see that Universal added Phantom to their cinematic reboot of classic horror? I have to say I'm super worried they are going to butcher it. I don't have high hopes for Tom Cruise's Mummy. It's too much to hope that they'll give Erik's story any justice.

I just heard about that last night, and yes, I agree with you. From what I’ve seen, they’re trying to pull a Marvel Cinematic Universe but with classic Universal monsters instead of the Avengers. So we’ll probably have the monsters teaming up to fight…more…monsters. With Inception-like soundtracks. And explosions. And floundering attempts at witty dialogue. I imagine the creative meeting at Universal  went something like this:

”Right, so the kids like film series now. Lots of interlocking plots. And they like reboots and sequels.”

”Actually, sir, if I may? They don’t necessarily want reboots for the sake of rebooting. If they’re good reboots and series with compelling story lines and characters, then sure, but–”

”They like the Avengers. They liked Ghostbusters.

“Well, yes, but not–”

“They liked that Harry Potter one about the zookeeper with the suitcase.”

“Actually, the reaction was mixed–”

“And the one where Hermione marries the Beast.”

“Reaction was mixed for that, too–”

“Johnson, come here.”

“Yes, sir?”

“Patterson here seems to think that the kids don’t want reboots or sequels or series.”

“Sir, I was merely suggesting that we focus on the story and characters versus simply rebooting for the sake of–”

“What’s your take, Johnson?”

“I liked Batman Versus Superman. Because I like Batman. And Superman.”

“Okay, but–”

“And there was the Flash. I like the Flash. And Batman. I like Batman.”

“See? See, Patterson? People love cinematic universes.”

“That’s not what he said! He’s simply responding to something he recognizes, regardless of whether or not it’s interesting storytelling. There was no compelling character development or conceivable plot in Batman Versus Superman. It was pandering to the lowest common denominator and just like all these other sequels and reboots, it’s banking on the public’s collective nostalgia rather than channeling energy into developing new, compelling–”

“That’s it, Patterson!”

“…I…what’s it, sir?”

“Nostalgia! That’s it! We’ll capitalize on the public’s simmering desperation to escape the political and diplomatic shit show that has begrimed the world and take them back to a simpler time. And they’ll pay and arm and a leg for it. They will, mark my words. Disney’s doing it. Marvel’s doing it. DC is doing it. Ghostbusters did it with ovaries. We’re losing ground here–but we have something they don’t have.”

“…….What is that, sir?”

“Dracula.”

“…I don’t–”

“The monsters, Patterson! The monsters!”

“I like monsters.”

“See, there you have it; Johnson likes monsters.”

“But–”

“We’ll do an Avengers-style team up of them all: Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, the Mummy–”

“But–”

“And we’ll cast wildly popular leads like Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise.”

“Johnny Depp isn’t wildly popular anymore; nobody wants to look at him!”

“It’s fine, he’ll be the Invisible Man. Ohh, this is brilliant. There will be loads of explosions and action and Hans Zimmer–”

“Don’t you think this is a cop out?”

“And we’ll cast Zac Efron as the Phantom of the Opera and he’ll battle Chad Michael Murray’s Quasimodo for control of the button that will detonate all of Paris, and then Tom Cruise will slide in and save the day and Frankenstein’s monster will have a sex scene with the brides of Dracula while the castle explodes–”

“No, please–”

“AND NO ONE WILL WEAR A SHIRT AT ANY TIME EVER. BOOBS. THERE WILL BE BOOBS ACROSS ALL THE LAND. THIS IS BRILLIANT. JOHNSON!”

“Yes?”

“Call the screenwriters. The Dark Universe is a go.”

“I like the dark.”

I slammed the wooden door behind me, the paper sign reading ‘Creative’ flapping at the force. I pulled my hoodie over my freshly curled hair and purposefully walked down the hall quickly. Fresh tears pricking my blue eyes and threatening to ruin the elaborate match makeup that the sold out arena would never see. I passed by numerous stage hands and talent, keeping my head down in order to make it to my locker room and leave in peace. But the glee of giggles stopped me as I glanced over to see Eva Marie adjusting her new ring gear in a mirror as she laughed with a few of the other Divas.  She was preparing for my match, taking my opportunity. I felt my fists clench. But how could I be mad at her? I let this happen.

I heard my name called and paused to glance over my shoulder. My friend Becky sat cross legged on a stage crate concern painted on her features. Next to her stood Baron who’s concern mirrored Becky’s. His shirt stuck to the fresh layer of sweat that had accumulated on his body from his earlier match and his dark hair was pulled into a bun on top of his head.

“Don’t ya have a match?” Becky asked. The tears intensified and I blinked furiously glancing back at Eva.

“Not anymore” I mumbled lowly before tucking my head down pushing on to my locker room.

Modern AU - Luna having a Café

- Luna would own one of those dreamy cafés that would still count to the more quiet parts of the city

- The dark blue coloured ceiling would be covered in tiny fairy lights, making it look like the night sky

- Different astrology cards of planets or star constellations would decorate the walls and different smells would seem to linger in every corner of the room, from coffee over cinnamon to vanilla

- One of the main reasons why Luna would have opened a café would be the people though, which is why you would absolutely get the chance to socialize there

- There would be two colours of tables: Purple and Blue. When entering the café, the customers would be asked at what colour of table they would like to sit

- Blue: Private tables. You could just be by yourself a bit, reading, doing some work, enjoying something to eat or a drink. The blue tables would give you the chance to just relax a bit and mind your own business.

- Purple: You would get assigned to a random table number. So you would either join someone and get to chat with a kind stranger, or you would spend a few minutes by yourself until someone joins you

- The concept would work out pretty good, yet, if Luna would see someone sitting alone at a purple table for quite some time, she wouldn’t hesitate to grab her own cup and maybe a plate with two pieces of cake, and accompany the person a bit

- People would not only come because of this though, but also because of the menu and different activities

- Every day you could get a different selection of sweet or salty pastries, next to the counter a list where customers would be able to write down suggestions or wishes for the next days

- There would be creative writing meetings once a week. Anyone would be allowed to come, and for a few hours people would get topics assigned to brainstorm and write down some short texts

- Luna’s Café would be a safe haven for anyone in need of some quiet time alone, or in the mood to actually just get to know someone to talk to

- There would be all different kinds of people every day, but the idea of all of them feeling good and enjoying themselfes, would be everything Luna intended to achieve with this
