A lovely creative kokeshi made by Yuji Watanabe. This kokeshi is called “Harukaze” (Spring Breeze) and is designed to look like a little girl in a red kimono decorated with gold leaf butterflies, plum blossoms, and shibori dots. Her obi is black with a red hemp leaf pattern. While she is beautifully detailed, she is made from only a single piece of wood; simple bodies are a key feature of all kokeshi.
A group of lovely creative kokeshi being used as party favors. While they are more detailed and often more colorful than traditional kokeshi, they still have relatively simple bodies (usually consisting of only of two or three pieces) and are made of wood (NOT plastic).
