It was a tiny apartment. One room, a dingy kitchen with cluttered counters and a mattress, shoved into one corner, the sleeping bag on top pulled back in disarray. The sheets off-white, sweat stained, signs of struggle. Not the sort of struggle Steve had been trained to look for: a fight, signs of attack, but the sort of struggle that Steve had learned on his own.
As he tiptoed between the sink, fridge, and the counter separating the kitchen from the bed, Steve found himself taking in all the little details of the apartment: the small collection of dishes sitting in the sink, the newspapers plastered over the window, a bookshelf made from cinder blocks and scraps of wood. There was a shelf with spotty, still not quite clean dishes stacked on it over the sink. A half-full bottle of store brand dish soap. He paused, glancing at the top of the refrigerator. A collection of papers, a large red thermos, and a jar filled with cooking utensils were arranged haphazardly on the dusty surface. Steve smirked when he saw the bright green spatula among the kitchenware.
Pairing: Sam x Reader (with a little bit of everybody)
Summary: This is sort of a continuation of the request by @cupcakequeen1999 titled Savior, but you could totally read this on its own.
A/N: I know I’m a terrible person and writer, this took so long to do because I had a massive writer’s block and I know this isn’t exactly what you asked for, but this is the closest thing I could do to your original ask, I really hope you like it!
Imagine: You and Edmund are really close and he’s kind of a player. You tell him that you think he should find a steady girlfriend and he confesses the only reason he hasn’t is because of his feelings for you.
You rolled your eyes as you saw Edmund put his arm around another girl and worked to conceal your jealousy. For months, you’ve watched him flirt and hook up with other girls all the while wishing he would think of you as more than a friend.
You overheard him saying he’ll be right back and a few seconds later, he was sliding into the seat next to yours. “Hey Y/N.” You nearly swooned at his wonderfully accented voice but held yourself together. “Hey Ed. I see you’ve found yourself another girl.”
He smirked and leaned closer. “You jealous?” You scoffed in return. “You wish.” He laughed and leaned back in his seat. He hid it well, but in his head he really was wishing you were jealous. Because then he would know that you had the same feelings he did.
Before either of you had the chance to get out another word, the bell rang signaling the end of the school day. You picked up your notebooks and slung your bag over your shoulder, promising Edmund that you’d be at his house later for your traditional movie night with the Pevensies.
When you arrived in your bedroom 15 minutes later, you fell onto your bed sighing. “Why did I have to fall for him?”
You walked into the Pevensie house, not even bothering to knock. it was basically your second home. You walked into the living room and crashed on the couch between Peter and Lucy, half landing on Peter. He grunted and shoved you. “Get off me you big oaf.”
You laughed, scooting over some. “Oaf? What does that even mean?” He laughed along with you. “I’m not sure but I know it’s an insult.” You snorted and turned, conversing with Susan and Lucy.
After a while, you got tired of waiting for Edmund and told the group that you were going to make popcorn. “I wouldn’t go in the kitchen if I were you.” Said Peter.
“Why?” You asked. Was he messing with you? The siblings exchanged looks, shrugging and you rolled your eyes, and headed into the kitchen. The sight that greeted you was terribly unpleasant. Edmund and the girl from earlier were having a heated make out session on the counter. You screamed, shielding your eyes with your hands and rushed out of the kitchen. You sat back down on the couch with red cheeks, and hit Peter on the shoulder. “Asshole.” You muttered, but he just smirked.
A few minutes later, Edmund and his latest girlfriend came through the open door, sitting on the smaller couch opposite the one you were on. “So, what are we watching?” Edmund asked as if nothing had happened.
Edmund was trying to watch the movie, but he just could not focus. He was ashamed that Y/N had caught him making out with Nancy. Sure, he’d had girls around her before but she’d never seen him in that position. He was trying so hard to get Y/N out of his head, he wasn’t thinking.
You kept seeing Nancy (you’d learned her name from Peter who kept telling her to be quiet) touching Edmund out of the corner of your eye. She kept grabbing his hand, stroking his face, leaning her head against his shoulder. You couldn’t stand it anymore, especially after she finally grabbed his face and kissed him.
You abruptly stood up, drawing attention from almost everyone. You walked through the kitchen and out the back door, sighing from relief as the cold air smacked your face. You could almost breathe again. You heard the door open and you looked at the ground, kicking at it with your shoeless foot. “Pete, I’m fine.”
“Uhh, it’s not Peter.” You turned in surprise at hearing his voice and his beauty once again overcame your senses. His black hair was blowing in the wind and his long sleeved blue shirt hugged his frame perfectly. His brown eyes shone with kindness like always.
You smiled. “Oh, hey Ed.” He narrowed his eyes at you. “What’s wrong?” You kept the smile plastered to your face. “Nothing. It was just hot in there.”
He sighed, and you could tell he saw right through it. “Fine. Don’t you think it’s time that you got an actual girlfriend?”
His face contorted with confusion. That wasn’t what he was expecting. “Maybe I’m serious about Nancy.” He defended. “Fine.” You said.
He hit the wall suddenly, causing you to jump. “Gosh you’re so- ugh! Can’t you see the only reason that I’m with those girls is to distract myself from you? You’re the only girl I think about. The only one I want to be with.” He searched your eyes for a clue to how you were feeling. And then he leaned in, kissing your lips gently.
After he pulled back, you waited for a moment before reattaching your lips to his, only this time with more passion, putting all of your feelings into the kiss. When you two finally broke away in need of oxygen, a huge smile broke out across his face. “So, does this mean you feel the same way?”
You smiled and nodded, slipping your hand into his.

Archie’s ridiculous tone, once again.
“Sooo maybe drinking that whole bottle of whiskey was a bad

“Yeah well, my morning wasn’t so pretty either…” He said as
he buried his head in his arms leaning onto the counter, shielding his face

Archie didn’t respond, burying himself further against the

It was a considerably gloomy day the first time you had met Sam Winchester. The rain outside was pounding against the window pane and every now and then you would be met with thunder so powerful you felt the ground beneath you quake.
You sat in the bay window of your bedroom, it was positioned so that it faced the front of the house where you saw that there were new neighbors moving in.
“It’s a crappy day to get new neighbors.” You mutter to yourself as you watch a young woman struggling to carry a box from the back of her car before her husband comes strolling around the corner to scoop it up out of your arms.
“What was that, Y/N?” Your mother asked as she rounds the corner, a basket of laundry tucked under her arm, a sweet smile adorning her face.
“I said we have new neighbors.” You inform her, purposely leaving out the last bit seeing as you weren’t really in the mood to be reprimanded.
You had intended to spend the whole day in your backyard tucked away in the tree-house your dad had helped you build two summers ago. It was the first week of summer vacation and you wanted nothing more than to spend countless hours up there doing whatever you desired without any interruption. Now, you were stuck in the house with nothing to do but stare out of the window.
I-No’s Special Attacks #2:Chemical Love has great range (H) and causes a hard knockdown on the ground. It’s usually followed up by a note or just to get in for pressure. The Air Vertical version is best used after the opponent is knocked down for a mixup. Yellow Roman Cancel allows I-No to gain a jump install or you can immediately air dash after. However, it can be countered by a Blitz Shield.
The Boy From Pallet Town: Ash Ketchum (Satoshi) from Kanto to Kalos.
Kanto: The Rookie. Ash
starts as an excited but immature and naive 10 year old boy from Pallet Town. He’s not really much of a
trainer as much as he is a kid trying to be a trainer, and he’s always one step
behind everyone else, especially his rival Gary Oak. The hot-headedness and self-centered ego hinders his progress throughout his journey and he needs the guidance of Misty and Brock to help him
out along the way. Despite his flaws, Ash does have a kind and selfless heart when it comes to the well-being of Pokémon, putting his life on the line before his Pokémon in times of danger. Overtime, he gets a better handling of battles, but still has a lot to learn. Especially when his lucky winning streak runs out, and his neglect of handling his disobedient Charizard ends up costing him the Indigo League.
Orange Islands: The Learner. Ash is still immature as he was at the beginning of this arc, but he ends up taking a few humility
lessons and battles (such as Lorelei) to deflate his ego and make up for his loss in the Indigo League. His arc with Charizard
highlights this and his battle with Drake gives him his first real full 6 vs 6 battle. But while he may become better in terms of training and battles, so has Gary Oak, whose victory over Ash ignites an old
Johto: The Experienced. The early episodes highlight a contrast of power between him and those starting out in Johto such as Casey. The team he posses from the Kanto region could easily allow him to breeze through the Gyms without much trouble, but it has detrimental effects such as Charizard being unable to properly train to the next level with the lesser experienced Pokémon, and Ash relying on his old dependable Pokémon instead of training the new ones he caught. Ash is not exactly mature (still has a hot-temper and can be foolish) but he is
experienced enough to handle Gym battles without pity badges and is able to handle the League battles a lot better than before, culminating into beating his old-time rival Gary in a full battle. But
there are still trainers much more experienced than him such as Harrison, if only barely.
You know, I find it funny when people hate Paul because he’s an asshole. Like, he is MEANT to be an asshole.
And in my honest opinion, he’s the best rival character we’ve seen to date.
If you grew up with Indigo League, you’ll know Gary was Ash’s first ever “rival”, but Gary didn’t feel like a rival to me. Gary wasn’t an asshole, Gary just WANTED to look like a dickhead. I don’t think Gary was naturally an ass at all, but he wanted to seem tough and arrogant to outshine Ash. I’m not gonna talk about their rivalry in detail because they’re friends now and Gary has mellowed down a lot ever since he lost in the Indigo League.
But anyway, Paul actually was Ash’s rival. He constantly criticised him, he constantly called him pathetic, he constantly pointed out his flaws and he constantly acted rude towards him. He wasn’t doing that to annoy and tease Ash, like Gary would call him “Ashy-boy” to tease, Paul was picking on him because it’s what he actually believed. And did this bother Ash? Yes. And oh my how it did bother him. Ash’s frustration with Paul’s methods and critics is what made Sinnoh Ash so great; yeah you can say that Dawn’s contest moves (spinning dodge, counter-shield, ice aqua jet, etc) helped Ash but it was PAUL who drove Ash to that edge of absolute anger that we haven’t seen much of in Ash. It was a grain of Ash’s personality that the anime haven’t gone so in-depth with, his prior anger moments were mostly comedic relief such as his arguments with Misty. The only true anger we’ve seen in Ash before was in M3 when Delia was kidnapped, and now we had so much more moments as such.
The other problem we didn’t really experience with the Ash/Gary rivalry was that it wasn’t consistent enough. I mean, Gary’s appearances in random episodes were mostly comedic, he would come on, take the piss out of Ash and leave. Don’t get me wrong, I loved those moments because I found it hilarious to see Ash’s reactions, but it wasn’t relevant to the plot.
Paul and Ash’s tense rivalry was a very important plot to the DP saga. We saw Ash mature in this season and we got a very special Pokemon that a lot of us hold dear in our hearts: Infernape.
Infernape is basically the icon of their rivalry and their methods. Paul’s methods were crude but they were quick and effective, Chimchar was a very skilled and strong Pokemon, despite the fact Paul saw him as pathetic. The problem Paul had was his obsession with activating Chim’s Blaze, otherwise I’m sure he easily could’ve been the powerhouse.
Ash’s methods were very ethical and friendly, but they were slower. However, they overall had the most results. Chimchar’s happiness was obviously increased while being with the DP Trio but he also learned how to control Blaze when it was activated, which was an important point in the saga as Paul’s original intentions were actually realised through Ash.
And at the time, a lot of people believed Ash’s only SInnoh starter would be Turtwig, as Dawn had Piplup and Paul had Chimchar, therefore meaning it would be like AG and Ash’s Torterra would be like Sceptile, so when Paul abandoned Chimchar it was a shock to a lot of people.
Now what is very important in their methods is the development in the series.
Remember their first fight? It ended in a draw, thus meaning they were equal in strength when they started out in Sinnoh. But ever since, Paul DOMINATED Ash in battles, and hard. Especially when he knocked out Ash’s whole team.
And did Ash just go “oh well, shit happens! We’ll train more tomorrow and beat you!!” right after like he usually would? Hell no. Ash was distraught.
This was a dynamic in Pokemon that we haven’t really experienced before. Ash was always optimistic about his losses and saw them as a way to improve on his mistakes, but this time was sulking. Hard. Sure, he got back to his old self seconds after his team joined him, but it doesn’t change the fact that Ash was absolutely devastated after a battle, the one thing that he loves to do most.
Paul was such an important character.
Do you think Ash would’ve been like THIS if Gary beat him in such a crude way? Most likely not. Ash would’ve probably just gotten really defensive and shout something like “WHATEVER LOSER I’LL BEAT YOU NEXT TIME”, because Gary in Kanto was nothing more to Ash than just a massive dickhead. Paul to Ash, however, was a threat. And the fact that Ash lost to him made him believe that he’s not strong enough and maybe Paul’s methods were actually right. Who knows what he was thinking?
But if it weren’t for Paul kicking Ash’s ass so hard, we wouldn’t have gotten that ever so satisfying final battle at the Sinnoh league. I mean, how many of us were expecting Paul to win? Probably a couple. Maybe some people knew Ash was gonna win for the plot, but I thought it could go both ways.
If Paul was a nice rival, we wouldn’t have had such a strategic Ash in the anime. We wouldn’t have had the dynamics, or the tension or even the amazing final battle. We probably would’ve had some last-minute decision like Tobias having fucking legendaries in his team but that’s another point.
The rivalry between the two is the reason why Ash had advanced in the Top 4 in Sinnoh, his best yet, as it shows how much his hatred towards Paul has pushed him to improve. In my whole and honest opinion, if Paul wasn’t a character in this series Ash would’ve been top 8 again or something. Ash needed an asshole to calm down his confidence, Ash needed an asshole to drive him over the edge, Ash needed an asshole to bring down his self-esteem, Ash needed an asshole to help him develop. Ash needed Paul.
This rivalry was so beautifully written and developed that I doubt any future rival would be able to deliver what Ash and Paul have. Their rivalry is one of the main reasons why DP is my favourite series of all time.
So all of you unicorn-huggers out there who want everyone in Pokemon to be little, positive bunnies who do no wrong and they should all hand-holding friends who write “BFFLXOXO” on their notebooks stop hating on Paul because he was an “asshole” and realise WHY he was an asshole. Realise why he would’ve been a shitty rival if he was also an unicorn-hugger. Assholes exist in the real world, so Pokemon needed a real one for once. If he doesn’t make an appearance in the anime in the future I’ll be extremely disappointed, because he’s a character that needs to be kept relevant.
But don’t forget what Cynthia said, they might meet again in championship tournaments.
A/N: I’ve successfully kept up with the update schedule, yay
(✧∀✧)/! A longer chapter than I expected, but action and stuff do eat up the word count XD; I’m still slowly editing Arc1 so the FFN uploads are still behind… Anyhoo, thanks for reading and any feedback is appreciated as always! Words: 8,014
Oh man this is going to be a long one so apologies in advance.
A part of what made Pearlshipping very appealing to me initially was the great chemistry Ash and Dawn shared. Like these two were REALLY in sync for a lot of DP. First off, unlike Misty or May who I never really felt were on the exact same level as Ash in terms of trainer skill (though May came close, a flaw of hers before leaving the group was borrowing to much from Ash’s battle style), Dawn was a trainer that I could call Ash’s near equal and it really showed. These two would constantly train together, battle together, and support one another, they would frequently take battle tactics from each other and implement them in their own battles, such as when Ash took Dawn’s shaky “Aqua Ice Jet” move and turned it into his own with Buizel. And Dawn would do the same with Ash’s “counter shield”, the fact they have enough confidence in each other’s battle ideas to see the potential and effectiveness in them is really nice. This is where I found a significant difference between how May and Ash traveled. While Ash and May traveled together, their separate goals rarely intersected, it was very much two friends traveling together with separate goals to pursue. However with Ash and Dawn Contest and Battles intersected quite few times for them, Ash would participate in some contests and even Dawn would have a Gym match, the unique experiences of both career goals helped the two of them significantly.
And speaking of support, these were really close in that regard as well.
Ash would be there for every single one of Dawn’s contest, wishing her good luck (as well as frequent high-fives) and watching her perform. If she needed help (and vice versa) he would train with her.
And Dawn even went so far as to be Ash’s cheerleader on occasion for a few Gym Battles. I don’t think any of Ash’s companions went through so much trouble to cheer Ash on, that really shows how much she cares about Ash if she’s going through all the trouble just to help him win a match. Hell, even when it was RAINING she still didn’t stop cheering for Ash, that’s incredibly sweet.
Every victory felt like one for the other, as did every loss. When Dawn lost her second contest in a row Ash was equally as disappointed (especially when he saw Dawn trying to put on a brave face in order not to deck Jessilina) and took it upon himself to enter her in the Hearthome Tag Competition in order to raise her spirits. And when Ash lost in his first full battle with Paul, Dawn was very worried and even went through the trouble of putting on a entire comedy show for Ash and his Team in order to make them feel better…just…man these two really care about each other a lot
And then there’s “High Touch”, a song which is basically a love letter to the great friendship these two share. It sings about the good times the bad times, Ash singing about he’s happy that she’s here for him and Dawn singing about how she wants to thank him for being the same, how each of their smiles are always with them and and akjdnskjnda I’m sorry but this is just great stuff man, and this is the only times a OP like this is shown in the anime where it serves as a duet between two actual characters and not a single or general theme. The 2009 version I especially adore as it feels like it has much more energy then the original version.
And finally we have the last episode of DP, which is incredibly sad episode for everyone in and of itself, but during the goodbye scene between Ash and Dawn, after parting with a high-five, she is almost to the point of tears until Ash cheers her up by reciting her mantra and then she proceed to thank him (as well as Pikachu and Brock) for everything.
I guess if I could boil all of this down to a simple theme it would be that of Camaraderie and Friendship. Not since Misty have I ever seen Ash as close to a traveling companion and even in BW Cynthia herself talked about how close they were despite the time apart. That’s really why I ship it. The close bond and the good and bad times they go through is just sweet as hell. It’s a shame we will probably never see Dawn again outside of cameos but those are the breaks I suppose.
Other highlights include Dawn leaving Kenny’s ass cold to cheer Ash on at the Sinnoh League and Dawn teasing Ash playfully at their reunion in BW (that playful nature is another reason for my love of the ship)!
Daenerys ‘Dany’ Targaryen has never liked Jon Snow; he was rude, he rode a motorcycle and he never took anything serious in his life. However his siblings adored him so there must be something good about him, right? 48 hours and a mind is changed.
Dany stared at her roommate Arya with the blankest of expressions. Was she being serious? All fucking weekend? No this cannot be happening to me!, Dany thought angrily. Her heat boiled, her skin crawled and her blood pressure was going through the roof. She knew to Arya she was being outrageous; but she didn’t care; she hated him! And he was going to be sleeping on their sofa for the weekend? No, not while Daenerys was living and breathing was that ever going to happen!
