Captain America: Civil War Non-Spoiler Review

Rating: 5/5

I’d like to start off by saying that this is the best MCU film to date (well, in my opinion anyway). Captain America: Civil War speaks to the audience in an emotional level that no Marvel film has ever done before. The audience is so invested in these characters that it impacts everyone.

The fight scenes were so well-choreographed, especially the airport scene, and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. Before this film came out I did start to worry that the Russo Brothers had tried to cram too many characters into one film; however, that was not the case! Each character had its purpose to the story and this is another factor that made the film so good.

Tom Holland and Chadwick Boseman both did incredible jobs portraying Spider-man and Black Panther and I can’t wait for their solo movies to be released. I couldn't’ have asked for better actors to portray these roles.

Another thing I particularly liked about this film, that also annoyed me, is that near the end I started to doubt my allegiance. Entering the cinema I was strongly Team Cap but nearer the end I started questioning his reasons. Both sides had strong arguments for and against the Sokovia Accords, it was difficult to decide.

The relationship between Steve and Bucky was also explored a lot and this played a key role in the emotional side of the story. It was so interesting to see how Bucky had affected other people’s lives and that despite everything he had done Steve still believed in him.

Henry Jackman also did another incredible job scoring the soundtrack for this film.

Yes, there may have been some improvements. The plot with Baron Zemo may have been a bit rushed but then the film wouldn’t have been able to focus on the relationships between Steve, Bucky, and Tony as much as it did. Obviously, I am biased towards this film but wouldn’t demote this film to 4 stars for the reason above.

Overall, this film was brilliant and definitely worth seeing. The Russo Brothers pulled it off again and I can’t wait to see what they have install for us in Avengers Infinity War. The mixture of comedy and action was brilliant and the emotional aspect of the film is what I think will make this one of the best superhero films ever.  Make sure to stay for the both post credits scene.

Over and out,
