cost sheet
Convention Spending Tracker
Sheet1 Table, Badge, Flight, Hotel, Printing, Misc., Misc., Total Expense, Amount Made, Total, Profit,

I posted this to Twitter earlier this week and it kind of blew up, but I want to post it here too. Just a little something I use to help myself keep track of spending during convention season, made into a rainbow because why not make more things rainbow?

Whether you’re tabling or just attending for fun, conventions can get expensive - especially when you include travel costs! I’ve used this sheet for about three years now, and helps me make decisions for future conventions. Sometimes it turns out I did better at a con than I thought I did! Or maybe I didn’t do so great compared to last year and need to think about coming back again. Oh, and everything listed are purchases that you get e-mail reminders about, so if you can’t remember the cost of a table or flight, it’s probably somewhere in your e-mail. I try to fill mine out as I buy flights and order prints, but sometimes I’m digging up old e-mails after the con is over.

Some things worth considering that are not on this sheet: food costs, gas if you drive to cons, baggage fees, and shipping if you ship your supplies in advance. Please feel free to download and edit this sheet as you see fit for your own needs! I hope it helps. And let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them!

EDIT: HOLY SMOKES, lenalibrarian on Twitter took my convention spending tracker and made it 100x better!!

–> SMART CONVENTION SPENDING TRACKER <– (original link edited too!)

It now calculates your costs and total profits AUTOMATICALLY!! Which is super useful for someone who’s terrible with numbers like me. I just finished importing all my 2017 convention spending so far, and this smart sheet caught a few mistakes already. I’ll be using this sheet for years to come, thank you lenalibrarian!!

Updated Commission Information!

Since my old commission information is outdated and also a hassle to find, I’ll be using this nifty post to help people find all my commission information.

All payments are handled via Paypal. I will draw pretty much anything except offensive or graphic material (feel free to ask me where I draw the line).

If you want to commission me, all you have to do is contact me on here, on Fur Affinity, or on Twitter. You can find more of my art here.

Okay, we’re not saying this is 100%, most definitely going to happen. This post is mostly to gauge reactions from our followers and content creators within the community. However, since we’ve gotten some pretty good reception on our Discord server and a whole slew of people liking the idea on our Twitter, it’s looking like we might go through with this once we figuring out publishing prices.

But basically, we were thinking of creating a McHanzo zine. Folks like Dilfosaur and Kichisu have made awesome zines, but this zine would not only feature art. We’d have writers submit work as well for the zine, so it’d be an anthology of sorts, I suppose you could say?

It honestly depends on how much it costs to publish and how much it’ll cost to produce sticker sheets, postcards, and other extras to include with some of the bundles. But right now, I’m hoping to have a few different bundles to accommodate folks who can’t afford to dish out a ton of money and to also include folks who might live in places where they can’t get a physical copy due to their country’s laws. The bundles below are subject to change, but this is sorta what I have in mind (should pricing not be too much):

  • PDF version
  • Paperback version + PDF version
  • Paperback version w/ goodies + PDF version
  • Hardback version + PDF version
  • Hardback version w/ goodies + PDF version

So if you can’t shovel out big bucks, you can get a paperback or PDF version of the zine. If you think you can afford it, you can get a hardback version. Again, it depends on how much all of this is going to cost, but we want to gauge the interest in this and if we can even afford to offer so many choices. Someone even suggested we throw a Kickstarter and offer tiers through that service, but I’m not sure if anyone would be up for that?

Also, any proceeds beyond breaking even would be split between two organizations – the Human Rights Campaign and Stonewall Japan. One is an American LGBTQ+ organization and the other is a Japanese LGBTQ+ organization, which are specifically chosen since McCree is American and Hanzo is Japanese. (And if you guys have heard that these organizations aren’t so great and have proof to back it up, along with some other choices for organizations/charities, we’re open to changing this up.)

Let me once again emphasis that this is simply an idea right now. We’re not saying there is definitely going to be a zine, but if enough people are behind this and we have people who’d like to contribute, we’re going to do even more research and begin putting things together (behind the scenes) over the next couple months.

So, how do you guys feel about this?

cheap markers -  tiger markers

Hey guys, today I’m going to introduce you to a great and cheap Copic alternative: Tiger markers! One thing to keep in mind, this brand can only be purchased at the Flying Tiger stores, which are located in Europe and the UK, go check their website if there’s a store near you.

This is the packaging and the only information on there is that they are twin markers, the back doesn’t say anything either. At first I didn’t think they’d be alcohol based but they are indeed alcohol markers! And they are 3 euros per pack which means they only cost 1 euro per marker! Awesome, right?

At first I thought they might have a brush tip, as shown on the barrel, but it is a bullet nib. The barrel is sturdy and feels cheap, because it is.

Now we all want a comparison so here you go. I compared it to a Copic original and a PROmarker because they all have a chisel and a bullet nib. It all looks and feels the same though.

So the nibs work the same, ink flow is also the same. The Tiger bullet nib is slightly thicker but that doesn’t bother me. I’m not sure about the amount of ink in the marker. At first glance they are quite juicy and I’m guessing they might have the same amount of ink as a PROmarker and perhaps less than a Copic.

There are currently 21 colours so that makes 7 sets. Greys, blues, yellows, pinks, browns, etc. It’s a great starter’s set. The only thing you might miss is a skin colour, but you can get a PROmarker or something in a skin colour, like ‘Dusky Pink’. The paper I use is Canson XL marker paper, which I use all the time. This block of 100 sheets costs about 8 to10 euros and is bleed proof and great for blending and also for detailing with pens and colour pencils.

Here’s my test drawing, which looks the same as if I had done it with my other markers. I used a pen from the same store, which is marker proof but you should test it beforehand either way. I also used a white pencil for highlights.

If you’d like these markers, don’t wait too long! The stores don’t always have them in stock and they are gone soon, so go get ‘em if you’d like to start out with markers (or hoard them like me). Spread the word for fellow artists!

edit: they have them back in stock recently, they look relatively the same besides a slight change on the barrels ;)

2 of these colours are actually new. (02 and 12)

Their logo has been altered a bit but the markers are still the same ;)

Another drawing done with these Tiger markers :)

Skin Care:

Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid AND Cosrx One-Step Pimple Pads

No joke: These two products used together have essentially rid me of any acne I experience between periods. For the longest time I was so frustrated: I was doing everything right, but I still had at least one active zit on my face at any given time. So, I finally bit the bullet and added acids into my routine. These two products contain betaine salicylate. This is a gentler form of salicylic acid. They also contain no alcohol! I use the BHA liquid twice a week and the pads everyday. Literal miracle workers! I can’t rave about them enough. 😍 Perhaps a separate review may be in order.

Shara Shara Honey Bomb

As we start to transition into warmer weather, I tend to look for lightweight hydrating layers. This is a perfect example of that. Its a versatile product that can be used as a serum step, a wash -off mask, or a sleeping pack. I find it works best as a serum, because it can be a bit sticky. The scent is heavenly. Sweet natural honey! If they made a perfume, I would definitely buy it.

Skinfood Deep Sea Water Gel Mask

Hydrogel sheet masks can be tricky, what with their super slippery texture. I wouldn’t like to admit that I’ve dropped one (or two) on the floor in the past. As they tend to cost more than typical sheet masks, this hurts my soul. BUT not these masks by Skinfood. They actually stay on my face! Minimal slippage! I got to enjoy the affects this mask had. It made my face soft and moist.

OGX Kukui Oil Conditioner

You’ve probably noticed that OGX brand makes it into my favorites every month. I just love their products! They’re great for my hair, which is curly and dry. The products are a bit of a splurge, but I have very short hair and the bottles last me months. This conditioner is my favorite from the brand so far. The scent is to die for and it’s very moisturizing. For the sake of experimentation, I may branch out in the future, but no doubt I will come back to this conditioner.

Lush King of Skin Body Butter

Body oils are my go to when my skin is extra dry. This one is great for sensitive skin gone off the deep end. It’s on the pricier side, but the bar will last forever. I like to melt some of the bar in my hands and then apply the oil to wet skin. You will have the silkiest skin ever. Period.

Coach Poppy Perfume

This is spring in a bottle. It’s a sweet, floral scent that I find myself reaching for each day this season so far. It’s a lighter fragrance, so if you’re worried about your perfume announcing you to the room, this is for you.

Lancome Juicy Shaker in Piece of Cake

I loooooooove lip oils. Like, LOVE lip oils. When I found out about Lancome’s, I immediately bought three of them. (oops!) Though that’s more of a testament to my lack of impulse control, I’ve fallen for each one. The packaging is adorable (its supposed to be a little cocktail shaker) and there’s a generous amount of product. I also enjoy the sponge applicator. The color payoff is way better than I expected; Piece of Cake is a gorgeous nude-pink. You need to reapply them frequently, as you would expect from a lip oil. Love these. Did I mention that I love them?

MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara

My go-to everyday mascara. It’s a very natural looking mascara, adding more length than volume or curl. No flaking, no irritation, no nonsense. (*cough* Better Than Sex *cough*) This is a waterproof formula, but I’ve had no issues removing it at night.

Tazo Earl Grey Tea

This is just so good. There’s a bit of lavender and bergamot in this tea that comes through beautifully. My favorite hot black tea.

Skinny Pop White Cheddar Popped Popcorn

I initially thought Skinny Pop popcorn was meh. I’m likely turned off by their awful name, but I have to yield to their white cheddar. This stuff is the bomb. At 43 calories per cup, I can sit down and power through a bag with zero guilt. It’s so good; comparable to Smart Pop. Excellent late night snack food.

3 Things I Hate: The Equestrian Version

The Signs as Art School Experiences
  • Aries: paper that costs +$7 a sheet. you have to buy 5 but the teacher only has you use 2

• i’ve had to listen to you going to the bathroom in our silent hotel room for the past four nights and i don’t know if this is bringing us closer together or further apart au

• you’ve been driving forever and you keep being passive aggressive every time i ask if you want me to take a turn and i’m about to grab the wheel to make you pull over au

• you don’t want to waste money on a hotel when your grandparents are in the area but their little lapdog barks at all hours and your grandma won’t stop trying to feed me au

• border police deemed us suspicious and we’ve been stuck in this detainee cell for the past four hours just because you had to buy those supposedly cocaine-laced oranges off that guy on the side of the road au

• is that blood? on the sheets of this shady hotel? and new sheets cost fifty bucks that we don’t have au

• the road we need to take is completely snowed in and there’s nothing but a grocery store in sight… you ever begged to sleep in a shopping cart before? au

• the people in the room above us are doing loud things and we have nothing tall enough to bang on the roof with (unless either of us is willing to stand on the bed and use our head) and it’s too late to talk to management au

• i never realized you were such an awful driver but since it’s your car you won’t let me drive and i’m seriously fearing for my life au

Think about opening commissions

Would anyone be interested in commission me?

I am thinking about it right now and i most likely will have a cost sheet made.

Commission will proce range from $3 to $6. Not decided yet but the lowest will be 3 dollars.

If i do decide then i would make:

Headshots like this with or without background, Does not need to be a circle. The price  depends on what you want on it.

Also fullbody:

can decide without coloring and just have a lineart. Which would be cheaper.:)

i will do a price sheet. Just asking if anyone would be interested.:)

Crabbing on a Budget

Water dish edition!

I always come across people wondering how they are going to provide water dishes that are deep enough for the crabs to submerge in, cheap enough to afford, yet durable enough to last a while and stand up to crab shenanigans. Plus, how can you provide easy access to them safely and cleanly? Well, the good news is, this is very doable. Even better news? It’s a cheap set up that costs less than $5!

First, make a trip to your local dollar store, and there you can find bowls like this:

Color availability and prices may vary, but from experience and from briefly looking online, a pack is less than $2. I have had these bowls (I got red) for 2 years and they have been great. They are thick, heavy, durable plastic, and I haven’t had any issues using them. Easy to clean and crab-approved. I personally put two cups of water in mine, and there’s still a bit of room to spare since I like to have a little space to avoid spills. My largest can submerge enough to replenish her shell water with no issue, so they will work for most sizes up until good sized larges and jumbos.

Next, scoot on over to your local craft shop (JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, etc.) and get a sheet (or two) of this handy stuff:

This is plastic sewing canvas! I learned from other crabbers that this stuff works great to use as a ramp in the bowls, so I had to try it out myself. Once I did I never went back to using anything else! It’s easy to clean, durable, and very cheap. A sheet costs $0.98, and is very easily cut so you can create your ramp however you like.

And that, my friends, is how you can get water bowls set up for less than $5!

Set up tip: when installing the bowls, put them in the center of your crabitat and bury them in the sand so that only the lip of the bowl is showing. Crabs like to dig against corners and sides and love tipping things over, so doing this will help prevent mishaps from happening.

Happy crabbing!

So I’m opening up commissions! Hurray!

If you wish to commission something from me, please shoot me an email at and we can discuss what you want, and the payment

We weren't great

- we were amazing.

Amazing stargazers. You knew Pisces from Lynx, and you could talk for hours about planets and black holes and the never ending universe that seemed to expand and yet surround us, like a blanket, like were our eyes four stars in a constellation of its own. Expanding, shrinking. So close, so far.

Amazing liars. You said, “We are having a sleepover!” and then you took the car-keys and we went to Mexico because you’ve always wondered what life was like as Billy the Kid and I asked, “Wasn’t he from Texas?” and you said, “The world has changed, he was from here and there and everywhere,” and I said, “That’s very poetic - are you saying that borders change and humans change and somehow we now expect borders to be clear while the development of humans is anything but?” and you replied, “something like that, but what I really meant is that I have no clue where Billy was really from!”

Amazing storytellers. I came to school late and you would say, “Why weren’t you on the corner? I was waiting, why didn’t you show up!” and I would make up a fairy tale. Like, suddenly I had been through a jungle (the garden) and I met a lion (our neighbour’s fat cat) and it attacked me (well, it scratched my arms) and I had to run in circles to escape (I did!) and that’s why I was late. And you continued the tale, like, “Wow, I saw that lion, time to grab my gun and go shoot it!” and we would go hunting in our own little world, believing up to be down and down to be right and right to be us.

Amazing friends. You didn’t smile when I fell off the bike and broke my leg. You pissed yourself with laughter. And I didn’t cry out in fear for your safety when you jumped off the rooftop into the pool. I cried out in fear for myself - should you get hurt, Mum would spank me sore. Because amazing friends understand each other, even when there’s nothing to understand, like when you moved and didn’t speak for days, and all we did was to hold hands and stare at the sky.

Amazing writers. I wrote thoughtful, long letters on beautiful paper bought at the local bookshop, you know, the kind that costed £2.00 per sheet and made Dad angry, because he was like, “Save that money for someone special,” and I was angry because he didn’t understand you were special. Your letters were better than mine - written down pieces broken off of cardboard boxes and scratched on the back of old receipts, I smelled your new life on them.

Amazing strangers. I don’t recognise you in the leather jacket, not at first, but you look at me one two three four times and then you smile. You wave, from across the train tracks, and I look at you as if you are a stranger. And you are. And you are. You are 33. You are married. You are employed. You are someone I once knew but don’t know now. You are on the other side of the tracks. And how can I get to you, the train is coming, and people are walking in between us, they are disturbing my view, and you are getting blurry, like an old movie slowly burning out from too many rewinds on the machine and what can I do if I want to make you an amazing stargazer amazing liar amazing storyteller amazing friend amazing writer again?

- I run across the tracks. I can hear the train coming. People are screaming. But there’s just you and your smile. And your hands. And your hug. And your words, “Did you just feel like the whole world went to a standstill, like the universe stopped expanding for a moment and sucked itself in, as if we were a black hole, together, containing everything and nothing all at once?” and I reply, “I have no clue what you just said,” and you say, “Me neither.” And we laugh. Because we are

together. Our fingers intertwine. Our eyes meet. And once again, we’re a constellation. One two three four stars. Shining in eternity.
