Dug through some family photos for pics of my mom’s ‘85 SR5. She got it new after a drunk driver totaled her '81 Corolla, I believe. First pic is of my grandfather with it in Puerto Rico, he and her used to go on sunday drives around the island. Rest are of me with it when I was real little. We had it until I was in 3rd grade or so, when we sold it due to excessive rust in the trunk and along the sides. Wish we’d kept it now!
Happy Easter everyone. Today I finally got the Corolla running, not without two or three trips to the parts stores though. I must say, after all these months it felt pretty damn good driving it around the block today. It should be registered within the next week too!
Should I rescue this little sr5? Shell is clean aside from the dents in his photo. Priced super cheap for an sr5 in Florida, so it would only be a minor detour from getting a hatch and I’d be rescuing a clean Hachi from a life of sitting in a driveway.
LOOK AT THIS TERRIBLE RENDERING I MADE IN MS PAINT. I EVEN MADE THE LIGHTS FLASH. WHY AM I SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS? I didn’t bother with the front bumper, but I did the side skirts and over fenders, and the CF hood (yes, the dark grey is supposed to represent carbon fiber for the hood and hatch, and wrap for the roof). Also, is the stripe too much? And who wants me to render the rest of the car like this?
A bit of an update on the AE86, continuing the tear down phase, still have yet to get that front bumper off, but I’m in the process of tearing down the suspension. And remember folks, always wear your safety glasses when working under a rusty car! Also, might be a good idea to hold your hair back (if it’s long, like mine) if you’re going to be rolling around on a creeper (we affectionately call it the U.V.A.R.T. pronounced you-vart. Which stands for “Under Vehicle Access Rolling Thingy”. It’s a technical term, don’t worry, I’m a professional… not really).
