Reading what Corey said about riarkle hurt me real bad

(This is the article the ask references)

I know, nonnie.

Here’s my take on it. Corey was being interviewed about the show ending, so first, in talking about Farkle and Smackle, of course he is going to give a response that portrays closure in terms of where the show ends at Goodbye.

I actually agree with Corey that it is great Farkle and Smackle “found” each other. Although I am obviously bias toward Riarkle, I have defended many elements of Smarkle in the past and will continue to do so, particularly the acknowledgement of personal space/physical touch that has been brought up for Smackle’s character. That is hugely important in my opinion and I am pleased to see that issue even being discussed in the show.

Corey saying “Not every relationship between a guy and a girl has to be romantic” in relation to both Riley and Maya is a little more odd to me. (This is assuming his wording has not been adapted in some way to fit the article better.)Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t believe that Corey, or Rowan for that matter, would 100% believe that there wasn’t something developing between their characters. With the direction given to them in terms of how to interact with each other and the dialogue they had to deliver to each other, it seems odd that they wouldn't become hip to the fact that something else was going on under the surface. However, again, this was a professional interview discussing the end of the show, and I don’t see him explicitly throwing out speculations about what could have happened in the future with more seasons, at least not right now.

Honestly, I’m just surprised that the topic was important enough that a whole paragraph was spent discussing the relationships!

Keeping all of this in mind, I love Riarkle and would love to see it develop. That is one of the reasons why I am fighting to save this show. You guys should too, so go here and check out what you can do.

To the GMW cast–my warmest regards

To Rowan, you are a little ray of sunshine. What you have done over the past few years is so incredible. You are brave. courageous. confident. I admire you for that. You did a phenomenal job as Riley, and i look forward to seeing what you do next.

To Sabrina, I remember when I first saw your video “Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying” on Disney and i immediately loved it. Your music is amazing, as are you. Maya is such a great character that taught so much. You did an amazing job and I am really excited to seeing what you do next.

To Peyton, oh gosh where to begin lol. You were an amazing Lucas. You were the one that taught that change IS possible and Lucas rocked it. Thank you for being funny, down to earth, and silly at times :) Best of luck to you.

To Amir, oh my gosh the laughs you gave me were endless. You’re the best class clown. I also enjoy the friendship of Peyton and Zay, how they weren’t afraid to go into the locker room and stand up for their rights. I am so glad you joined the family.

To Corey, oh my gosh. where to begin? From the moment I first saw Farkle, i knew right then and there that he would be my favorite. From turtlenecks, to “Donnie Barns” to now, you have been my favorite. I always saw some of myself in Farkle. The way that he was always not afraid to speak up in class and how he realized that he would change when he was ready to, not when billy da bully said so. It has been such a pleasure watching you grow over the years, and i am so excited to see what you do next. thank you so much.

To Ceci, you have done such a phenomenal job portraying Smackle/Isadora. You’re so funny and I have enjoyed watching you. One thing I love about your character is how she just radiated confidence in the first season. And the seasons after that. You are amazing. You are a great role model to kids. Thank you.

And lastly, to Ben and Danielle, wow. After watching you guys while I was growing up as a kid on BMW, it was amazing to see you reprise your roles in GMW. You taught me so much as a little girl and now it was amazing to see you teach me as I made my transition from high school to college.

And special mention to Auggie and Ava, who was honestly goals. I really wish I had a friendship like yours when I was your age. Thank you.

You all showed me the world. I am so blessed. Thank you so much to each and every one of you. I love you all.

warmest regards,
