Look what I found!

I know most of us are familiar with the last 4 panels, but I was always curious about the rest of the comic. I didn’t know the name, just that it was clearly DeCarlo, and I didn’t know the story, so I couldn’t look it up! Lo and behold, here’s the quintessential Bughead story.

This one has a lot going on for Betty, I think. We can’t be too hard on her for not jumping to help Veronica. Poor girl just wants an opportunity. I also really love how established her relationship is with Jughead here. It’s SUCH a foreshadower, IMO.

Hope this was enjoyable for you guys! I was so happy to find it in its entirety!

OH! And this one was written by Frank Doyle, who I am now absolutely POSITIVE shipped these two.

“Man to Man” (Frank Doyle, Samm Schwartz, Jughead #312)

Another gem from Doyle and Schwartz.

I remember the first time I read this, I had expected several more pages where Jughead catches up to Betty, gets freaked out by all of the “girl stuff” and runs back home where he tells his parents he’ll never whip up that aforementioned enthusiasm. To my surprise, it was just a sweet little story with, dare I say, a whisper of foreshadowing.

This is the canon that I still hold near and dear to my heart. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, they’re just comics. Only stories…but imagine all of the joy we’d miss out on if we didn’t have them in our lives.

“It’s Friendship” (Frank Doyle, Samm Schwartz, Jughead #313).

This is one of my favorite Bughead stories (and those with an aversion to the pairing in a romantic sense might appreciate it as well). That last panel is A+. Personally, I think both Frank Doyle and Samm Schwartz were secretly (or not-so-secretly?) fans of the two of them as a pair.

More to come! I’ve got some goodies! Feel free to share and use the images for whatever you like.
