Me and Briony made a Christmas dinner in a cooking masterclass and our chef embarrassed us by taking our ‘too shredded’ Brussels sprouts to the top of the class. Apparently I got over excited when blending and just made it look like green snow 😂😂😂
Cookwizers, today we are discovering, together with you, the magic behind Salty Caramel Sauce!
There are very few people who don’t like this rich, decadent sauce. We are huge fans of it, and it’s almost impossible to decide if it goes better with brownies, ice cream, chocolate or just by itself with the help of giant spoon! Caramel sauce really brings the best out of already delicious desserts, and is quite addicting, so handle with care!
What’s best about it is that you can make it at home with no effort at all. If you have 15 minutes to spare, follow the step-by-step pictures and you’ll have a much healthier and rich Caramel Sauce. No trip to the supermarket, easy ingredients and you're just a few moments away from satisfying your sweet tooth. This recipe is a win-win!
¾ cup White granulated sugar
½ cup Heavy cream
3/4 tsp Kosher salt
1 tsp Vanilla extract
2 tbs Agave syrup (or Corn syrup)
2-½ tbs Unsalted butter
2 tbs Water
Heat a saucepan over low heat with heavy cream, butter and salt. Once butter is melted, remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
Bring a large saucepan with sugar, syrup, and water to a boil over medium heat.
Continue to boil the sugar mixture, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Cook until the sugar becomes amber-colored.
Reduce the heat to low, and gradually incorporate the cream mixture in, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
Transfer the salty caramel sauce to a heat-proof bowl and allow to cool. Store in a jar and try not to finish it before dinner time!
Cookwizme teams up with Masterchef Winner Luca Manfé
We are super excited, and you know why? Because Luca Manfé, the most charming and our most favorite participant of the Masterchef 4 has won the finale! And you know what? Today we have teamed up with him for a very special recipe he has personally chosen for CookWizMe: his mom’s famous meatballs! Isn’t that exciting?
What we love most about Luca is that he doesn’t take “no” for an answer: he had tried for the Masterchef title last year for the first time, but didn’t make it through. Instead of giving up, he started practicing in the kitchen so much he even had to leave his job two months prior to the next Masterchef audition!
Luca is a dreamer…just like us. And he makes his dreams come true, inspiring everyone around! After experiencing difficult challenges like cooking live crabs, catching a turkey, cooking for a very tough bride and, of course, facing the most terrifying culinary judges, he reached the top! If you are not a fan already, check his bio and get to know a bit of Luca!
Our Chef Andrea, a proud Italian as she is, was jumping over the moon at the idea of remaking one of Luca’s dish, but when he told us he was giving us his blessing to replicate his mum’s famous meatballs, he really touched our hearts!
We wish Luca the best for the vibrant future he has ahead, and we really hope to dine at his restaurant, which, we are sure is going to open soon :)
