Hey ! I don't understand the Ne function too much, I'm under the impression that high ne users will look at something and suddenly get a huge rush of ideas of what to do with it and same with other things .. 😅 could you please clarify ?
This picture demonstrates the basic difference between Ne (divergent) and Ni (convergent) quite excellently.
Note that the ideas that the stimulus provokes don`t have to be concrete (aka. Ne does not really function like `hey look a cereal box lets make a spaceship or a time machine or a paper container out of it!`. Ne is not exactly an action plan machine. It`s a possibility machine and a divergent thought machine. Ne makes and sees connections between seemingly unrelated topics. It looks beyond the details and strives to map out the bigger picture and all the hidden patterns behind it.
Imagine a mind map that starts with a simple idea but keeps expanding in multiple directions all at once and making unexpected turns and connections until it looks like a complicated spiderweb. That`s basically what happens in my head when Ne starts brainstorming. The spiderweb does`t necessarily always have any other point or end goal than to understand and explore the current topic at hand. Therefore unfiltered Ne can seem messy and useless to an outsider. To the Ne user it all however makes perfect sense.
That`s how I would personally explain dominant Ne. The real question is does this description make sense to anyone else…(?)
Below you can find a fairly detailed description of how Ne manifests in ENTPs. I copied it from a source so it has not been written by me.
